Extremely well made anthology of animation combined with music.

This is a very fun film!! Looks really nice in 4K.

Mine was in a thin mailer which of course it was damaged. Had to exchange mine at the store due to the damage. Best buy takes the fun out of steelbook collection with all the damaged steelbooks they send out. Movie is great but if you can buy at the store get one there not online. Their shipping team is horrible. They need to go to you tube school and watch videos on how to handle,pack,and send out good products. Or just hire people that care about other peoples stuff.. only recommended if in store purchase otherwise dont waste your time

I knew that the 4K release of Heavy Metal would be supreme but actually witnessing it was a mind-blowing experience. All of the colors and detail are amped up tremendously and really pop...especially in certain scenes where multiple background effects are used. Also noteworthy is the exceptional audio options which sound great no matter which one you choose. I like how they isolated most of the 'metal' music to the front channels while the Philharmonic Orchestra gets the full spatial treatment to the surrounds and beyond. I have yet to watch the Blu-Ray disc, but word has it that it isn't remastered so it's mainly identical to the old release. Yet anyone getting this for the 4K version will not be disappointed.

I was a little skeptical that this movie needed a 4K release, but Sony obviously spent a lot of time cleaning up this 4K transfer. All the dirt, scratches and other image imperfections that are clearly visible on my DVD copy of this movie are gone. Dolby vision adds a subtle image enhancement and the colors overall look better than my DVD copy of this movie. If you are a fan of this film, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Absolutely stunning 4K video. I already own the prior blu ray release and the increase in details is incredible, this is easily one of the best looking UHD Blu-ray’s I own. The remastered soundtrack has the music sounding better than ever as well. Where before it was a bit “flat” and behind the dialog, now it has a much fuller sound stage. It sounds like listening to an album rather than subdued background tracks. And of course the physical steelbook itself looks great to boot.
