Just watched this movie and wow. My first inkling about this story was one of the episodes of Timeless (probably canceled by NBC) about how African Americans overcame all odd to prove that they are just as smart if not smarter than anyone else. I am a 65 year old white man and I was deeply engrossed in the space program. I even remember John Glenn's flight as it's the day one of my favorite uncles died. All I ever saw was white shirted Buddy Holly bespectacled buzz cut white men whenever I saw a space launch. Thank goodness for these proud tenacious, brilliant people, for they literally saved the space program. I loved the IBM mainframe part as I've been working on them for over 40 years (though not the 7090-ancient). Yeah, they were fast but not perfect (not enough bits) A must see movie.

It's funny, with all I was aware of with the "space race", the story presented here was fresh and new. A fine cast and direction. I enjoyed this movie enough to purchase it for future viewings.

I love sci-fi...I love action movies...I love animated (Disney, etc.) movies. I'm not usually one to enjoy a movie that does not have these...but this movie is truly amazing. It captures what the civil rights movement was trying to change. Some of the things/behaviors/attitudes were made more poignant by the fact that you could see the the woman was not a BAD person, just a product of her environment. Not only did 4 African Americans buck the system, but 4 FEMALE ones at that! These ladies were fighting against the "little lady" AND "N e g r o" attitudes. They did so with grace, patience, and quiet courage. Truly AMAZING movie. And not just because I love Kevin Costner :) (Had to space out the word due to censorship...I used this word because that IS the mentality/word from the period)

I love the movie and it was a great price for it .

This movie is based on actual people. It has humor, drama, and heart-warming moments. It is a great family movie, one that my non-movie- fan husband will watch whenever it's on.

The period to me covers my youth as a teenager. The overall excitement during the space race was a big deal to most of the citizens in this country at the time. But, and I mean a very big but, there was no mention of Afro Americans highly critical to its success to getting our astronauts into space. Hidden Figures was not just a Great story reflecting the early days pushing the space program forward but also showing a people viewed as second class citizens helping to may that dream a reality. It was very heart warming to see these strong Black Women moving forward and not be denied an equal opportunity that many felt they didn't deserved simply because of race or gender. I rate this film five stars for finally telling their story and telling it well.
