As someone who was going to work with NASA this summer I felt the need to watch this movie and I was not disappointed. The tensions of racial divides bring this movie into the forefront of the clash between the social perception of race with the drive of American innovation as NASA tries to guarantee the safe travel of John Glenn. Highly recommend it for anyone wanting to know more about the history of NASA or about the great American race to space.

I purchased this movie because it was a true story. The title intrigued me and after watching it I realized how society can be so cruel and what these individuals had to go through I learned a lot. If this movie wasn't made their story would have never been told. Why was no recognition given. But in any society there are individuals who are willing to fight the cause and allowed them to perform great things I really recommend this movie for all ages

Hidden Figures is a great piece of history that was never taught to us in school during the 80's and 90's. I'm glad someone wrote a book on these three lovely ladies and then had it turned into a movie showing their accomplishments with the NASA. They did an excellent job showing the struggles of African-American people during that time in the 1960's and the struggles of women, more in particular women of color. This movie is a must see and must own.

Really love this movie. Nice to know about history between black and white, but different story is MEN AND WOMEN! I applause all women who work hard behind NASA and endurance from men who look down on women for different class level/position. They stand up whatever they strong believe in! Men did not realize that many women have good geninue and instinct to help out.

While most movies in this genre (documentary, human, strife, social ignorance) don't generally appeal to me, being, well, alive and American and most things space and engineering related, I back researched this movie then HAD to go see it and own it. Strong women, perseverance, mind changing, role models, and just some heat down to earth want-to-watch-over-and-over acting. Destined to be a timeless classic like Color Purple and Forest Gump.

The actors were phenomenal! In this season of racial ignorance, the movie showed some of the major contributions that African Americans and women have made to success of this country. It also shows that African Americans are smart, intelligent, talented, and capable of greatness and higher order thinking. Those African American women ROCKED!!!!!

This untold story about 3 brilliant beautiful black women with incredible minds that helped changed the world will change your life. This film was so wonderful to watch, learn, and experience it truly took my breathe away. The performances put on by Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monae is priceless. With an all star cast including Kevin Costner this fantastic film is worth every dime. I recommend this piece of history to everyone.

Really good movie, a favorite of my wife, had to add to the collection

My wife and I first saw this in the theatre. I am a history geek and a Middle School history teacher - I had never heard this story! I bought the DVD when it came out and showed it to my kids at home. My 17 year old son was not interested in watching it, but we insisted that everyone's going to sit and watch it and, by golly, you'll like it! He loved it! Buy it and show it to your family. A good, clean movie with a story that must be told.

I saw both LaLa Land and the movie that won (so unimpressed I cannot remember the name). Hidden Figures is a lot better than either. The story of three AA ladies who help get the early space program going. The press never reported on the real life accomplishments of these three ladies, so the movies have to bring the story to us. Two of the three were vital to the success of the early space program, the third just has a fine story to tell.

This movie is one of the best to come out in recent years. It covers a side of the space race story that I never heard growing up in the 80's and 90's. The actors, Director and for that matter everyone involved with the movie did an excellent job in telling the tale. I would highly recommend everyone to watch this movie and enjoy the history that it provides during some of the most challenging times of our space program.

I enjoy the old time movies every now and then and this one was good.

This isn't 's a chick flick. It's an shameful but realistic look back at the way our culture at the time treated black women in the country. There were and still are places in this country where black women can't show us just how brilliant there are. I was very glad to see even back in this period of history that some gave black women a chance to impact history. Truly women of color had to insert themselves sometimes at risk to themselves or their family. Clearly these women were able to assist in history making events. I love the way the movie brought us along as part of their journey. The movie showed us how some were offended by just the thought of working with black people in general. It also showed how they were treated as low level office help. I loved how these women were able to show NASA that skin color doesn't make these women less able to contribute to the complex more than mindless jobs beneath there abilities. I really enjoyed this movie.

I really enjoyed this movie and have watched it several times. This movie is important time in history and it is a good example of 3 women who stood strong. They worked hard and earned respect from everyone around them. It is a good example for our time to use as an example of how to earn respect from people. Do not miss seeing the behind the scenes and extras it is well worth the time. I highly recommend this movie.

Hidden Figures deserved its nomination for Best Picture. It is a compelling story well told. The story is "based on" true events -- though is not a documentary and takes liberties with the facts, telescoping certain events for clarity of story line and dramatic purposes. It does bring to light real contributions by some amazing people who have indeed been "hidden" all these decades. The film both enlightens and leaves you feeling good.

The 3 main ladies were great along with Kevin Costner. The story was about NASA and racial inequalities. Kevin’s character didn’t care what the color or gender you were so long as the job got done. He tried to impart that wisdom to his subordinate. Each of the 3 ladies were pioneers who help NASA in the space race. John Glen was also a man who didn’t care what color your skin was he treat people with respect and dignity.

My husband and I watched this movie on demand and realized that we needed to own this. it's such an inspiring story and we wanted to learn more about it. The extras really help and I love the fact that it came with a code to download the book that it is based on. Started reading it the other day and am really enjoying the background information that was not in the film. But, don't worry, the film stands up wonderfully on its own.
