It's always encouraging when a retailer has sense enough not to charge extra for their exclusive edition. Which was the case with Best Buy's Blu-ray exclusive release of Hidden Figures. That's the sole reason we bought during the week of release rather than waiting for a better price, figuring the exclusive version would likely be sold out by then. We're far less compelled when the price is $5 to $10 more than the standard release, and usually buy elsewhere when that is the case or stick with the standard release. True, it would have been SO much better if it was a real (physical) book that came with the Blu-ray, rather than an ebook. But production costs might not have permitted charging the same price as the standard release. So it's at least understandable that only an ebook was included, unlike the annoying download-only extras that Target exclusives so often come with.

This is an outstanding movie suitable for a wide viewing audience. Its portrayal black discrimination in the work place and in educational settings is educational and uplifting as a black female math wiz rises to the top in performing calculations that launch the first manned space flight in US History for NASA. The obstacles faced and conquored by a pool of female black mathematicians is moving.

Got this for my wife for mother's day as we saw it in theaters and she loved it. I liked it too, but she loved it. Good soundtrack, good writing... but it is very sanitized. Meaning for all the perceived racism in the movie, they never put it out in the open to the point where you feel uncomfortable. That part took me out of it a little. Segregation was ugly and some scenes in this movie paint over that.

This is a phenomenal movie. It was well directed, filmed, and written. It's a time piece that still has issues that are pertinent today. It's a story of brilliant women that almost no one knew about even though there wouldn't have been a viable space program in the 60's without them. The barriers they faced were daunting although handled with care and even some humor. I'd recommend this movie to anyone.

Love that it comes with subtitles because I'm hard of hearing.

Excellent movie. Being able to understand the struggle these amazing women endured and how they overcame so many of their hurdles was inspiring. As an aerospace engineer who has worked at NASA in the past, this story really inspires me while also making me frustrated with the type of mindsets NASA tended to have in the past. I recommend this movie for everyone. Touching, inspiring, and very educational.

I saw this movie at the theater and I loved it. It was very inspiring to see how people who faced adversity in the work place, met the challenges to help the United States and the beginnings of the Space Program. These hidden heroes have taught us to fight for what is right. Excellent job the Hidden Figures of not only Black women, but also White women who made a big contribution to our space program.

like to watch based on actual events movies.this one is very good

Every time I watch this movie with someone, the tell me how good it is. I can't believe how many people did not see it in the show, but I lend them my DVD and they always tell me how they enjoyed the movie. It is very well acted. The time period and plot are both captivating... I recommend this to enjoy looking to watch!

Now I realize that stories are often from the point of view from the director making the movie, but either way, the movie still drives home the points that were meant to make, that women in that time stood up and made a difference when were were not at our finest hour in this country, and the movie shows the spirit of what founded this great nation, " no matter what class or color or creed you are"

Excellent movie, 4k vs Blu Ray, it’s really a matter of choice.

Our family really enjoyed this movie. We love all the main actors in "Hidden Figures" and recommend this movie to everyone. Especially families with young daughters, giving them inspiration to be whatever they want to become. Not only to young girls, Kevin Costner's role is very inspiring as he tries to extinguish the racial difference in order to get a job done that benefits all human kind.

Hidden figures tells the story of three black women working for NASA. The story focuses on their struggle to be recognized for their brilliant minds and the contribution they made to NASA in the days when segregation still existed in Virginia where they worked. All three made great contributions to the space race between the United States and Russia. This movie should be seen by all Americans.

Saw this movie on TV and decided we wanted to add it to our home library. A wonderful history lesson on the value of a person's worth! It took lots of good people to get our space program off the ground to where it is today. Race and gender should be ignored....it's all about talent and character.

I saw the movie and loved it! Couldn't wait for the DVD to come out and to add this somewhat historic DVD to my collection. I never knew about these women and their contribution to the NASA Space program. This history was not known because of racist bias and I'm glad it is now informing the American public of this significant contribution by these beautiful women of color and these patriots!

This film is a must-see for everyone! Nonetheless, I would highly recommend this movie to parents of young black girls, especially those who show even the slightest interest in STEM. Though these women faced strong adversity, they triumphed and made history for America. It is an encouraging film for all, yet it specifically speaks to the resiliency of black women. Very empowering!

This is a good movie, although a true one. Really enjoyed.

I can't say enough great things about this movie. I saw it at the movies twice and my son got to see it with his school for black history month. I really love this movie. It has some light hearted humor but it also shows you the racism at that time and how these women paved the way for other African American women. Bought it at a great price from Best buy.

As an employee of the US space program there are always those who for one reason or another are not always recognized for their contribution. This dramatized / based on history movie of 3 African-American women who through great determination and spirit to fight the racism that was prevalent in the space program as America attempted to get a man on the moon is a must see for all.
