Customers frequently mention the beautiful picture quality and brightness of the 100" Class U8 Series Mini-LED 4K UHD QLED Google TV (2023). The TV size and overall performance are also appreciated, with some noting the black levels are approaching OLED quality. Great picture quality and TV speaker audio. Terrible audio decoding from TV. A restart on TV is needed in order for my high end soundbar to be fed Dolby Atmos or any other High definition sound format intended from TV applications. Hisense needs an update on this matter. eARC takes up one of the two HDMI inputs.

Did I get a bad TV or what? All the reviews or most of them anyway, are raving about this tv. I recently moved, and part of the deal of selling my house was I leave the 120 inch Hisense trichroma short throw laser projector TV which in my opinion was 10 times better than this TV. There's no way a glass TV should be way better than a projector. This TV is horrible! Super pixelated, all the edges are fuzzy, the TV can't keep up, I can see the black lines. Did I just get a bad one? Is there any way to tweak the settings? What am I missing I have tried everything. Live TV on this is horrific! And this thing is supposed to be a 144 Hertz refresh tv? HELP! I want to keep this TV but it's horrible.

I think, The 100” U8K has worse black levels!

When I have purchased the TV I was very exited thinking that I’m getting the great U8K series picture quality in 100” size TV, but after receving the TV I found out that the panel on the 100U8K is totally deferent than the one on the 65”U8K that I saw on display at multiple Best Buy stores! Any one can tell by looking to the panel even when the TV is turned off, the 100” panel has a cheap plastic look with kind of some flexibility and it doesn’t have the inky black color with a glass look that I saw on the 65” U8K, you can see the deference in the materials clearly by looking to the edges of each panel, on the 100U8K you can see that the panel is behind the TV frame with no glass looking layer on top of it, while on the 65” U8K you can see the glass looking layer on the TV screen and that is very clear when you look at the top and side edges of the screen, also you can see the deference in the panels colors between both, the 65” U8K has a very deep inky black color while the 100U8K has a regular LCD color like any old type LCD TV. At the begining I thougut that maybe the 100” size has a deferent design and it should deliver the exact same picture quality, but I realized that that I was mistaken at the moment I turned the TV on, the picture was way too different than the 65” U8K, on the 100U8K the blooming is obvious, the colors are lifted, the black is nothing like the 65” U8K, and the contrast is worse, even after spending about 4 hours calibrating the TV colors and contrast to get the U8K picture quality. In my opinion, part of the bad picture quality on the 100U8K because the screen panel material color is not inky black like the one on the 65” U8K, which makes the blacks on the 100U8K looks like very dark gray rather than black, because normally the way to display a black color on an LCD screen is to block the backlight from going through the LCD at the black color part of the picture (shutting off the screen at the black part) also by turning off the backlight at the black part of the picture as well on some TVs that equipped with a local dimming zones technology, in other words the LCD panel (and the backlight on some TVs) will be turned off completely if you tried to display a 100% full screen black color, which logically yields that the depth of the black color on a an LCD TV has a direct relation to it’s LCD natural color, which at the end will effect the general picture quality and the depth of the colors at the end. I think the easiest way to have an idea about the deepest black color that a TV can achieve (and that’s something totally different from the contrast) is simply by turning it off and see how black the screen is, and that exactly what you will see on the 100U8K panel. Bottom line, I believe I understand why the 100U8K has such a low price, and most likely I’m going to return it and get a 98” from TCL for the same or a lower price if I want to get a low picture quality with a deeper black levels or I’m going to get the 98” QM8 for a higher picture quality. I’ll add some pictures of the panel edges from my 100U8K and for the pane edges of the 65” U8K as well as a picture showing the reflection deference on the material for both TVs.

Totally Indulgent TV perfection: I deserve this.

Hisense 100” US Series 4k 2023: I’ve spent two weeks fine tuning and watching every imaginable program type. From news, to streaming TV programs, series and movies. I’ve sent movies from my OPPO 203 UHD player. You should also understand that over the past 20 years I’ve only purchased decently large TVs from Pioneer, Panasonic, Sony, LG a now this Hisense. In every previous case I only buy the top of the line TV and trade it off or move it to another room. These were beautiful TVs. I even had a premium projector throwing a 120” image. Some of these units were even professionally calibrated. So how does this Hisense 100” U8K compare? PERFORMANCE: This TV compares with the best of the best. When properly setup, this TV is impossible to beat in any way that you will see. Let’s dispense with the notion that a few more nits or lumens will make a difference in your viewing pleasure. The beauty of these modern TVs is in the wickedly wide black to white range, the color volume that can be displayed, and the clarity of the image. Even adding a whole bunch of image “improvement”features will barely make a difference, because many of them add artifacts that are unnatural and they should be disabled. With the right settings, this TV leaves you with your jaw agape and shaking your head. It is stunning on the newest movies, and easily presents a better image than any you have seen in most theaters. I use a Disney Calibration disk (WOW) to ensure my basic settings are on target. I have never had a TV before the Hisense be perfectly accurate on every calibration setting right out of the box. FLAWS: If you sit or view from too far off center the color saturation drops off and takes away from the image intensity. But, let’s be fair here. Outside of an OLED, (I own 3!) no TV does much better off center. OLDES are perfect at the widest angles, BUT THEY are no where near this bright and colorful on center. YOU know your room setting. Choose wisely. What was Hisense thinking with the INPUT layout? If mounted close to a wall, you will curse the designers. There is actually a barrier making it tough to maneuver HDMI plugs once mounted to a wall. The MENU layout upon initial setup was annoyingly in the way. Trying to view the image while changing a setting was difficult. Hisense rolled out FIRMWARE UPDATE this past week (early September 2024) that hugely improved that issue. You can now modify setting while viewing almost the entire screen. Yay. INITIAL SETTINGS for a DARK room: My TV is in a room where I can control the lighting. These setting may or may not work for you. Also, I HATE “soap-opera” effect. It creates that odd image that results if you enable setting that smooth the image. Yikes. it is awful to my eyes except for sporting events. You may certainly feel differently. Don’t use my settings in that case. I also feed a signal from an APPLE TV4k which will trigger the DOLBY VISION settings. DOLBY VISION: CUSTOM setting LOCAL DIMMING: HIGH (but medium is also OK) DARK DETAIL: DISABLE BLACK DETAIL: 0 (BUT I PREFER -1 ON MANY MOVIES) COLOR: 50 (UP TO 60) HUE: 0 TEMP: WARM 1 (OR 2) COLOR SPACE: AUTO CLARITY: ALL OFF (or CUSTOM Judder 1; other 1) SHARP: 10 SUPER RES: OFF NOISE: OFF I use a BRIGHT setting of 80; CONTRAST 55; and everything else as described or OFF. We are thoroughly enjoying this TV. The price I’ve seen advertised makes it a no brainer if you have the space and budget. It has been problem free. Best Buy’s installation crew is very competent and with free setup and delivery using their Total program, you simply have to open the door and point to where you want it. Very satisfying purchase.

Received the television yesterday after ordering it on November 17th.TV is Huge to say the least.Comes on a wooden crate with even a piece of ply wood protecting it as well.. Picture out of the box is in energy saver mode and must be turned off to start to obtain the potential that the set has. After calibrating it it’s amazing the picture that it delivers.Black levels are approaching OLED quality and the picture is bright and the colors are vivid. All photos are from the television taken from YouTube content.Get this beast if you can.Its awesome P.S have no idea what it sounds like as I hooked it right up to a Sonos ARC Soundbar.and as anyone else should be using it with a home theatre processor or Good soundbar
