Best Bang for Buck BY FAR!!!

Let's talk about the elephant in the room. It's Hisense. Who? Well, it's not exactly a big deal here in the States but in Asia it's massive. Also remember that Samsung at one time was similar to Hisense when they broke into the industry. Same with Vizio. Now we view those two companies as quality manufacturers. Yes you are taking a risk. But Hisense is giving out a 4 year warranty to mitigate that. So that, the price, and the features, got me to purchase one.
Let's talk about the television. It is the cheapest HDR 4K TV on the market. Period. The HDR was just patched in via firmware (it takes 10 minutes and is super easy just need a USB stick) The picture quality in 4K HDR rivals any of the other low and midrange TV like the Vizio P series (which I owned) but at half the price. No it's not quite as good as the Vizio P series or Samsung KS8500 (another own I tried) but again, it's way less.
The thing about all of these TV (except the Samsung KS8500 and other very high end expensive TVs) is that they don't put out sufficient nits (lght output) to really give full HDR. These companies aren't telling you that though. So if you aren't willing to get the very high end models you won't be getting 1000 nits necessary for HDR10 or 4000 nits for Dolby Vision. So this Hisense puts out 444 nits, the P series like 460 nits. So when the P series says it does Dolby Vision....sure it can receive the signal but it isn't real DV by a lot.
In summation, for a fraction of the cost, you are getting very good features that will allow you to experience SOME HDR and 4K. Meanwhile, the industry has to catch up and start making TVs that can output enough light to fully utilize HDR at an affordable price. So buy this, and once they do make a TV that gives you full HDR with picture quality to boot at a good price and move this TV into the bedroom. You simply cannot beat the value proposition this TV has to offer.

If your streaming content or watching blu rays or any 4k content it's great. If you still watch a lot of cable I'd say don't buy it... I had to take it back because the upscaling was terrible, and I watch a lot of cable stuff still.

We have Direct TV for our satellite provider and are unable to program the remotes to work together. It is a pain to always have to use two remotes. We never had to do that with our Sony we had before.

Honest review about the 50H8C Hisense 4K TV:
For the price, this tv is amazing. Easy to setup and easy to get channels to auto-tune. I bought this tv after doing a lot of research on it and others within the 4K class. I decided to spend roughly $500-800 on a 4K tv, and this is the one I chose. Currently, there is very limited 4K quality and you will not get it with basic cable. Netflix and Amazon Prime are basically some of the only ways you will get the quality. Plus you need high speed internet so there is no lag. A new Ultra HD Blu Ray player and the Xbox One S could give you 4K content too however that is extra money to spend. With that said, this TV is the "bestbuy" as you will get the HD upscaling and near 4K quality. Why spend extra $100s for basically the same tv content? The biggest reason to buy this tv is the 4 year warranty. Part and Labor for 4 years? That should be the automatic seller point. All other name brands have a basic 1 year, and Geek Squad could be an extra $100-200. The quality of the TV matches up with Sony and Samsung, and currently Hisesne is #4 seller of TV's. I hooked my normal Blu ray player up and the movies are so clear it gives you that "almost life like feel". The sound is also amazing. This TV is a steal in price and I highly recommend you buying it. If all content on the tv was 4K HD I would go with a better brand and better technology within. For now, Hisense is going to give you your monies worth. And if you don't like it return it!, but i'm sure this tv will meet all your standards. P.S. buy a decent surge protector, my last tv was burnt out due to a lighting strike.

I tried this 4K TV before returning it. Picture quality is good but not the best. Watching basic channels or even cable I notice a lot of distortion. I made some adjustment to the settings but did improve a little but was still not happy with the quality of the image. This TV could be a perfect entry level 4K to someone else but was not for me.

The 4 year warranty means nothing because they don't return phone calls when problems start.

After just 2 weeks the TV either won't turn on or the volume won't work unless I unplug the TV and plug it back in. I waited past the 14 days to report it so Best Buy will not do anything for me unless I pay 99 dollars for the service call plus parts for what is broke.

Screen problem after owning only two months

Bought this new the end of June. Was great for all of two months until dark spot appeared in corner of screen. Best Buy was no help, told me I had to go through Hisense for repair. Hisense spent a week giving me the run around, asking for more information, before finally sending me something asking me to mail the TV to them at their expense, but if any damage occurred in transit it would be my fault. I can understand a year or more, but two months! Could Best Buy not just exchange the TV for me, or Hisense instruct me to return the TV for an exchange at Best Buy? Not happy.
