    Almost Five Stars

I’ve had this TV for about four months at this point and I am very impressed thus far. The picture quality is pretty good right out of the box, but if you switch the setting from “power save” or “standard” to vivid, and up the sharpness just a little, it definitely competes with other more expensive 55” TVs. I’m honestly not sure why these aren’t just the default settings. The sound quality is fair and can get quite loud if you want it to. If sound quality is very important to you, you can always just get a couple external speakers and hook them up. Just a couple minor complaints to watch out for- if you plan on adding a lot of apps to this device, you will need external storage as the memory on the TV fills up pretty quickly if you add more than just streaming services. The device is also not the fastest with some tasks. It’s definitely not slow, but it does take around 4 or 5 seconds after pressing the home button for the TV to get to the home screen. Overall, for the price I would definitely recommend this as a good and less expensive alternative to more expensive 55” TVs.

I bought this tv back in 2020 and now I have to replace it because I damaged it when I moved to my new apartment. The tv works and has good sound quality, good picture but sometimes it disconnected itself from wifi, had slow response from the remote and worst case scenario had to unplug it-plug it back to work properly I will recommend if your under a budget which is my case.

    Good, not great

The good: I just bought the TV yesterday and was blown away by how easy it was to set up. I was able to connect it to my phone and log into all my accounts without having to enter passwords, etc. It was less than 10 minutes after plugging it in. Great sound. I barely have the volume up and it's too loud. No need for a sound bar if you're in a smaller room. The bad: the picture is terrible. I usually do not care about that stuff, but I feel like I'm watching a 1980s TV set and it's 2021! My phone is vivid. My laptop is vivid. I can't believe a TV would be so bad compared to a phone when they're both computers. I don't know if I got a bad one or not, but I was genuinely shocked at how grainy it is. Screen casting isn't that great. Super laggy. The remote needs different buttons. They are not intuitive, and you have to "figure it out". Often it's overwhelmed and i literally have to shut off the tv to get it to respond again. Also, I should be able to add more things from the app store. I really wanted Britbox. It's so dumb that I can't get things I can get on my android phone on an android tv. All in all, I guess when you pay $320 for a TV, your expectations should be lower. It's a fine tv

Hello Tine, Thank you for your interest in the 55H6510G. We're sorry to hear that you are having issues with the picture and casting. Also not all apps that are available on Android phone has a Android TV version. Please perform a factory reset on the unit as based on our experience a factory reset resolve most common issues. If this does not resolve the issue please give us a call at 1-888-935-8880 or email us at [email protected].

    Too many compromises

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Finally decided to make the jump to 4K since there is actual stuff to watch/play in 4K now. I only paid $270 for this and knew it was not top of the line but like the title says, its just too many compromises. - In the first 4 hours of use it needed to be updated twice. 10 minutes each time. Thats not good. Oh it says you can download in the background but then I couldn't get the download screen to go away. Thats not background. The 10 minutes? Yeah that was JUST the instal portion and it cant be done in the background. I have had 5 other smart TVs and they all update faster and FAR less frequently. - The Android TV OS is terrible. It constantly asks you to "finish setting up your TV" which really means "log into all your Google accounts so we can track you". If it had just left me alone I would have gotten logged in but initially I just wanted to see my new toy in action. Instead I get screen popups and start wondering why they are so desperate to know my information. - Speaking of popups, so many. Like when my Switch changed games, it would pop up in the corner describing the input resolution. It becomes annoying. Oh look, I should "finish setting up" my TV. - It really doesn't like my FireTV Stick. The Stick goes to sleep after a period of inactivity. Their HDMI ports dont like this and refuse to recognize when the stick wakes back up. I tried cycling ports after waking up the stick. Nope. Eventually I had to power cycle the stick to get it to recognize. I strongly suspect this is intentional to get you to move all your account information to their apps instead of a Fire Stick. Sad thing is I had actually planned to do that so I could give a friend my almost new Fire Stick with all of my logins while he is without cable but I am no suspicious of their motives. Deal breaker. - As others have said, the picture is average at best. Blacks are more like grays. Everything is washed out. I changed the settings to Vivid and messed with the controls manually and it got better but not great. - The remote is IR and if you happen to have a sound bar that is even close to the front IR receiver you will be standing up or doing the "raise the roof" with your arms to get it to respond. I have an ancient Vizio with a 2.4ghz remote. IR is just unacceptable in 2020. - OK, end of the night, time for bed. Press off on the remote. Does the TV turn off? NO! It asks you to confirm. What the heck? I cant think of a single reason why I should need to "confirm" I want to turn off my TV. Even if you accidentally press off, press it again and.....oh wait, start up takes FOREVER! Yeah you might miss something really important if you are watching live sports or an over the air broadcast. So instead of making startup faster, they make you "confirm" turning off every darn time. Some good things: - Sound was surprisingly good. I bought this with a sound bar because of needing a sound bar on all of my more recent TVs but I could have gotten away without it. If you just need basic sound or are on a super restricted budget, this will do the job. - It has 3 HDMI ports (hard to find these days) and two USB ports. The USB ports are really nice if you run a Fire Stick because it needs power and you still have one to expand the storage (you will need to) for the Android TV. - The feet are nice and well spaced. I know, not a big deal. Yeah, its a big deal compared to some TVs in this class. - The price is pretty amazing for a 55" 4K Bottom line, Im 99% sure this is going back to Best Buy. Im going to spend the day doing all the setup tasks and seeing if it gets less annoying but only after I figure out how to do a factory reset if I decide its not going to work. There are just too many compromises even for a TV that only cost what I paid (inflation adjusted) for my first TV - a 12" black and white in 1982. I really wanted this to be "good enough" but its not.

I have only had this TV for about 5 hours, but so far I am loving it. I was a little worried because I had seen some reviews saying sound quality was bad, but you could had a sound bar to fix that. Well the sound is great, no need for sound bar. The set up was super easy. Picture is excellent. Remote is easy to use. Menu easy to navigate. Great Value. Only paid $278 after taxes. If your looking for a good large smart tv for on a budget, this is it. I bought this for my bedroom. I like it so much, I am considering purchasing another for my family room.
