This TV did not make it to two years. I have Large spots on it, that seem to be spreading. I get a new one every couple of weeks. I thought I would give Hisense a chance based off of my research. This was my first and last ever Hisense purchase. The TV seemed to make it past the warranty period then turned to a piece of junk

Brought this home 8 days ago and for the second time now, the WiFi won't stay on. I go into settings, turn it on, then it turns right back off in 5 seconds. I found online where you can unplug it from the wall for 20 minutes, which did in fact work, but when it happened again I decided it's not worth it, especially twice in 8 days!!!

Purchase the Hisense after my new Sony X800H audio went out of sync, I Love android TV and wanted to stay with it. Picture quality was bad and the software is very slow - almost unusable compared to the Sony. I would click the volume up two or three times before the volume would go up. Took it back immediately didn’t wait.

Before getting into the main part of the review, it may surprise you to find out that this brand manufactures all North America’s Sharp brand televisions. While the hi-sense brand may not be instantly familiar, you can rest assured knowing you have a quality piece of entertainment equipment that will provide you not with many years of enjoyment. With that out of the way, this is more than a regular TV. It can even be said that this is more than just your run-of-the-mill smart TV. In the past, to me a smart TV meant that it would connect to the Internet or have built in applications. With this 55-inch beauty, I was introduced to android TV. Now, android TV, to me, will always and forever be synonymous with what a quality smart TV can truly be capable of. I know that was a big generalization, but it cannot be stated in any other way. That is how impressed I am. Android TV has a seemingly endless amount of applications. You can even side-load APK files if you feel comfortable doing so. You have the usual apps that you expect to see included such as Hulu, Netflix, HBO go, and virtually every other streaming service you can think of. What surprised me the most was the ability to install applications like Facebook, Kodi, and others. And if you are a nerd like me, and you want the full “google experience”, you can side-load application such as google drive and google chrome. Basically, you will never run out of entertainment options. I plan on connecting a keyboard and mouse so that I can experience everything android TV has to offer. When you think about it, I would then technically have a giant 55-inch Chromebook. I think I have rambled on enough about the android TV feature, I feel like a kid in a candy store with a new toy. And guess what? It also has Chromecast built in, which comes in very handy. And if that were not enough, you can use google assistant to control virtually every aspect of your TVs functionality via the remotes’ voice control function. And not just your TV, but with any device that is compatible with google assistant also. Having the 55-inch variant, the TV has a weight that is very close to 40 pounds. With that in mind, it would be a good idea to have another person with you to help un-box it. The second person will be even more valuable if you plan to mount the TV on your wall. The TV mounted very easily to our existing wall-mount. And the numerous input and output options made it extremely easy to connect to the audio receiver we had used previously. So now it’s installed and ready to turn on! There is no mistaking that this is a 4k high definition display. The colors are true to life and vibrant. And the bezel is hardly noticeable. On top of that it’s one of the brightest (in a good way) displays I have ever seen. Before connecting to the audio receiver, the TV by itself wasn’t the best audio quality but it certainly wasn’t the worst audio quality either. If you don’t have an audio system, it certainly would be adequate on its own. For a while at least. This tv can be summed up with the following: Quality, convenience, and fun! I never thought I’d be so excited over a TV – but this one truly has done the impossible! The quality of the display, the clarity and the endless apps/entertainment options AT THIS LOW PRICEPOINT have blown me away! You are getting a lot of “bang for your buck”!

So, this is my very first Hisense TV and I must say I am impressed. If you’re reading this definitely do not count this unit out just because it isn’t one of the “bigger brands” you get A LOT for your money and you’re not really breaking the bank. First thing that you nice out of the box, is the design. Super thin and very well made. You get the option of positioning the legs of the TV in 2 different ways you can have them closer in or a further out depending on your needs and where and how the TV will be placed. That’s not an option that I’ve personally seen and it was great to have the option. Once the TV is on you see the dynamic display in action. Bright colors, clear crisp display that really pulls you in. The features are GREAT. As usual the Android OS is simple and easy to use especially if you have an Android device of course. But, even if you don’t have an android phone it’s okay, this is still a great TV with other features that you would enjoy. Having Google Assistant on the remote was the best thing for me. As someone with Google home products this made for another great addition to my home entertainment system. The only downside for me was the sound. It definitely could be better even though it does have Dolby included, I wanted and hoped for more. Overall GREAT buy you won’t regret it. Hisense did a great job with this one.

Premier Quality at a Bargain Price!

The HiSense 55H8G TV is great. The Picture quality is stunning, audio quality is above average, and the google app selection is extensive . Menu navigation is quite intuitive, and the setup was a breeze. Unboxing this TV was a bit of an adventure as it’s quite big. Having a second person to help with the unboxing probably isn’t a bad idea. The voice control via the remote is a nice feature and again is quite intuitive. You can turn the TV off with your voice, unfortunately you can’t seem to turn the TV on with your voice. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that this TV has 4 HDMI ports and two USB ports in addition to the built-in Chromecast. The connectivity options are great. It’s unfortunate that the remote isn’t programmable. Setting up the internal Chromecast was probably the trickiest part of this. Without doing anything, the TV was showing up in my Google Home app as a speaker. In order to get it to register as a video option, I had to go into the TV’s settings and set up a unique name for it to be recognized. After doing this, the TV showed up as an option to send video to. I’m very satisfied with this purchase and for the price you won't find much better!

The 55” H8G television is not an expensive screen – But it purports to pack-in expensive features at its budget price. What I found was a good TV with a GREAT smart interface, but some flaws that would push me to the higher end or mainstream brands first… The TV itself: Build quality/Industrial design is excellent here. Thin and narrow bezels really look modern. Very little Hisense branding on the enclosure. (That will be a good thing as they’re not a recognized quality brand). This is a good-looking TV for your living area, or really anywhere. I can see the larger versions being very good buys for a basement set-up. The VESA mounts are set low on the TV- That’s an important consideration for mounting, as the TV will sit significantly above, not on-center, with the mount hardware. The legs can be mounted 2 ways for different footprints. This is a helpful feature for shelf-fit installations and was welcome from such a new entrant. The remote is excellent, and has perfect CEC pass-through for AppleTV control. I was impressed as NO OTHER television I’ve owned has executed this properly. Voice controls were good and basic remote functionality had good reception even when not pointed directly at the TV. 4 Inputs! Finally! How do the budget players get this right and the mainstream brands keep cutting inputs. 4 should be standard. Also of note is that this TV still has an RF coax jack for an OTA tuner or antenna – There is still tuner logic included in the device, so getting OTA channels or ClearQAM from your local cable company is still an option here. Picture Quality: I was really excited by the picture output on this screen, as I’d read that the “Quantum Dot” tech they used would yield a bright, well contrasted, but excellent color image, like more expensive TVs, but for less… Let me sum it up for you – It’s not the best picture quality out of the box, but it can be fixed… Presets don’t seem to be very calibrated. All showed poor/washed out colors with both AppleTV input content and the built-in Android TV native stuff. Grays are washed out and splotchy on the screen. Custom settings helped with this. Custom calibration and settings adjustment helped tremendously, but smooth motion effects are still a mixed experience. Some of the clarity filters cause major image distortion, and I still can’t find pixel-perfect options, as everything is themed or named based on Hisense design. I didn’t get. The picture exactly where I wanted it, but I’m closer now, but really need noise reduction to work better – I’m sure based on other positive reviews that I need to hone my skills in this space. Audio Audio is strong, but clarity isn’t what you’d get out of a sound bar, but loud and good for wall-mounting. The device supports Dolby Atmos content, which fared significantly better than generic sources. Android TV Bad text quality – Only 1080p or 720 interlaced – Can’t tell – Blurry text, low quality graphics – It was the same throughout settings menus on the device, as they’re mostly orchestrated inside the Android TV interface… Makes me think that the integrated Android TV is not using the native 4K resolution of the device – Why would they include this with such poor visual quality? The assistant worked well and the apps are great – We’ll have to see how Hisense supports this integration with Android security updates and feature updates as Android TV is about to get some HUGE investments from Google it seems. The ‘Chromecast built-in’ is an interesting beast – Seems to over-saturate or distort YouTube content when casted, but no other content seemed to be affected. I also can’t tell whether Chromecast content is native 4K – I’d love to know if these built-in Chromecasts and Android TVs will ever support Stadia game streaming also. Overall this is a lot of TV for the price, and an impressive set for picture and audio output and it comes with the kind of physical design and port selection that should be standard. I’d recommend it but really want to see some improvements on Android TV overall and know more from the manufacturer what kind of support for the smart platform we can expect.

The Hisense 55H8G Quantum Series does so much at a reasonable and affordable price . With this TV, we can stop considering so called “premium” televisions. Overall this is a high-quality television. This TV is an affordable Android TV with comprehensive Google Assistant integration, crisp HDR performance, and powerful Dolby Atmos sound. The best things from this tv are : Bright, colorful at a budget price Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision HDR Easy to use operating system as this is Android based TV Super slim bezels 4 HDMI ports Few things that can be improved: Remote isn’t backlit Chromecast connectivity issues Design is a bit bland This is a feature-packed television, thanks to Google. Android TV is powerful, flexible, and useful all at the same time. No problems with the initial setup, which took about 15 minutes total including few app installs. Surprisingly this TV works best in 4K compared to regular HD. This TV offers a bounty of ports for your external entertainment hardware, all set in several inches from the left-hand edge of the TV..With built-in Dolby Atmos, the Hisense 55H8G set offers louder, more realistic and more encompassing audio than other offerings in its price tier.

The Hisense TV is a great value with lots of great features. I have wanted a good TV for my game room and wow did I hit the jackpot with this gym. This television was easily set up and after the initial settings were stored I put it through its paces so to speak. The sound quality is actually quite good and the speaker volume gets quite loud. I especially like the vibrancy of the picture it produces. watching 4k movies is really good, but the icing on the cake is when you place HD video games. The picture is truly life like. The Hisense H8G has an excellent refresh rate, so you don't get the blur from lower quality units. This TV is more than I could have ever expected. Just to top it all off the Google Voice assistant comes in handy when you want to use the built in features of the TV, and it links seamlessly to a google account. I'm really impressed with Hisense and this television.
