Hello Ryan,Thank you for your interest in the Hisense 55H8G and for taking the time to provide us with feedback. We’re sorry that you’re experiencing a dark picture with your new tv. This isn’t the typical experience with this model as this model is on the brighter side with 700 nits peak brightness. One thing to check would be the Picture settings. If it’s on Energy Mode, it will deliver a muted picture to conserve energy. Another possible solution would be to perform a factory reset. To do this, go to Settings, Device Preferences, Factory Reset. We’ve found that this fixes most common issues. If neither do, please reach out to our support team at 1-888-935-8880 or email us at Service@hisense-usa.com. We look forward to hearing from you and learning if either of these solutions resolve the issue. Thank you again! Harley with the Hisense Support Team Hisense

This tv actually intimidated my 54 year old self with the size and specs, however I was able to carry it up my stairs to my room and set it up. I was a bit confused by all the instructions for set up, but since I am wireless I realized I only had to plug it in! So, I plugged it in, added the tv to my Google home account and started watching. At first it worked great and I was able to use Google to control it, then Google just said it wasn't connected. Come to find out I needed to do an update. I did the update and it is working perfectly with my Google home. The picture quality is downright amazing. I have never had a tv that looked almost 3D. The picture is real enough that my cat actually watched tv with me last night. I don't understand all the specs, I just know good picture when I see it and this tv has it. And my cat Stewie approves!

Lasted 3 yrs. Budget brand TVs should last longer

Honestly, I only bought this tv because I was in the market for a bigger one. I couldn't pass up a $500 55in 4k. Hisense and TCL are basically the "best" budget TVs, Well, it was working fine for 3 years, until last week when it would shut off immediately after getting passed the boot logo. '' No lying when I say I probably watched, and read every tutorial there is, and have tried everything. Hisense support was useless, I expected to get at least 5-10 years out of the tv, not a mere 3, Even budget TVs should last at least 5-7 years. My recommendation is that if you REALLY need a budget tv that will do 4K and HDR, either get an extended warranty, or do a lot of research first, I'm probably going to see what the price of repair is, and if it's anymore than half of the original price, I'll save up for better brand while I continue watching stuff on my laptop :(

    Great TV

**This review is courtesy of the person the TV was sent to and is not my own personal review** We ordered this TV for our family viewing. I haven't used a "Smart TV" but have streaming through a FireTV device for several years now. The quick version: the TV is easy to assemble. The picture quality is excellent and the speakers are great. The long version: the TV unpacking and installing the included feet took only a couple of minutes. Pictures of the boxing, pieces and what is included are attached. Setting up is straight forward, assuming you already have an established Google/Gmail account. If you don't, it probably takes several more steps. The longest process is getting all of the apps you want to use downloaded and logged into. I recommend writing out a list and tracking down ALL of your login and password lists before starting. I did not do this and it took a lot longer than needed to get through all of the "forgot login information" links on the TV than it would have on my PC. Using the TV and apps is easy enough, I prefer the interface and remote through the FireTV but don't have any specific issues with the TV after a few weeks of use. A few "bonus" ideas that I found have been handy. You can download a TV remote app to your phone. It can be a backup for when you loose the regular remote or just an easy way to make changes from across the room. You can also synch it with existing PS4 controllers. You can use these as "sort of" back up remotes but are really great if you want to download any playable games through the game store. Getting games through the TV is a bit of a hassle and not as intuitive as viewing apps but it is workable. If you have an existing Google account you can also add the TV as a "preferred device", access the Google Play app from your PC or phone. You can browse and download apps to the TV from any device connected to your Google account. That means you can load fully functional web browsers to the TV or any other app you like using but want to see on a bigger screen or would like the "Google assistant" to be able to interact with. I'm sure that they longer we use the TV the more ways we will explore to add apps, functionality and uses.

The Hisense 55” H8G I’ll start with the Hisense is a gorgeous 4KULED tv and a near-perfect balance of quality, feature-packed and oh the price is right! The picture quality is excellent at 4K resolution. The display is razor-sharp, crisp, and clear with the support of HDR and Dolby Vision. It has a 240 Motion Rate as well, which keeps things nice and smooth. The design is very attractive. The bezels are very slim giving you a more all-screen look. Google powers the TV so we all know it is smart! Android apps for days for all of your viewing pleasure. Android TV is built-in for a clean and functional UI right out of the box. Setup took about 15 minutes total including several app installs. The remote is a bit large and bulky but still good. This TV is fast, its crisp and clear and the price point will amaze! The 4K ULED takes your TV experience from the doldrum to transformational. 55 inches is exactly the perfect size for a living area or even the bedroom. Settings are available for sound, display, sleep timers, power saving, etc. Sound quality is good but the use of my soundbar enhanced the sound for sure! I would most definitely recommend this TV!

bought for the price and picture, but has little to no storage for a smart tv that relies on downloading apps... bought a usb drive to use with it and the tv isn't fast enough to recognize the apps half the time

It does what you need. Screen quality is decent. But the processor for the smart apps just doesn’t quite hit as smooth or prompt as major competitors. I also don’t care for the fact that half of the apps I can watch on my Samsung I can’t watch on this brand with google store limitations.

When I first ordered the Hisense 55H8G I was excited to get to use it. I did have some trouble with the shipping changing from one day to being pushed further out. When it finally came in the mail I was very eager to open it and use it. Setting it up initially takes time and I have to admit that I was the most frustrated about that part. I like to turn things on and have them already working to my liking. The picture quality is very crisp and clear and makes for an immersive experience. I love that this tv uses the same technology as my phone so that it's easier to learn all of it's features. I'm still learning and believe that I will continue to learn more and more about the TV's capabilities and I am excited for this journey.

I had never owned a 4K TV so I was very excited to experience the HISENSE TV. After playing around with my new TV and comparing it with the others I have tried out or owned in the past I can say that I have been very pleasantly surprised. The picture quality is just way out of the league when you look at the price and compare it with some of the bigger brands like Samsung, LG, and Sony. The 4K ULED just blows your mind away with the minute details you can see and experience especially for animated movies. I was able to power through the initial install of the TV and then set up the google home powered remote that was pretty simple to use and thus I was able to connect the TV with all the smart devices like smart screen, speaker, etc. I have set up at my home. One of the things I noticed was the speed at which I am able to access apps that don't crash or get slowed down as you change out between them giving the user a seamless experience. The voice quality was also very superior with the Dolby effect giving the theatre like feel to the experience. I would definitely recommend the TV to anyone who is looking to buy a high picture and sound quality smart TV without spending the whole bank on it.

I watched hours of YouTube from experts on 4K TV's. Many liked the Hisense H8G. I do not regret my purchase. Easy to set up. I did make a few adjustments. The picture is amazing. I heard the sound is very good. It is more than very good. A sound bar is not needed. This has the best sound I ever heard on a TV. I bought the 55 inch. Fits the room perfect. Can't beat the price. Buy this TV.

The app store has a lot if apps unlike other televisions it has all the streaming services you need. The picture quality is great and it is a very easy tv to use.

We purchased this TV to replace another TV that was on its last leg. First off. We had a bit of trouble mounting because the set up is much lower than our original. The mounting attachment will have the TV set higher. Took some getting used to but now it’s not an issue. I like that the remote is very small and sensitive. No struggling to get signal. The volume buttons are on the side so it allows the remote to be even smaller. All my streams apps are right there and downloadable. The picture is nice, I’ve seen sharper and clearer pictures but for this price point I think it’s great!

This is my first Android TV experience and my first introduction to the Hisense brand. Very happy with the picture, very vibrant and you can definitely notice the higher contrast and deep black with the local array dimming. There is next to no bezel, and the feet can attach in 2 different widths to accommodate your existing stand. the Dolby Atmos does not disappoint! In all honesty I wasn't expecting much from it, but once you switch the sound mode to "Theater" the virtual surround really comes out and widens the sound stage very effectively. The Google and Alexa integration, along with the smooth Android TV interface make this a pleasure to use. The voice remote is intuitively designed and feels very sturdy in your hand. I would absolutely recommend this TV to anyone looking for a new TV.

This TV has been great! We love that you have access to all the android apps. The home page is easily customizable and we that you can jump right back into a series you were watching. The picture quality is outstanding and the Wi-Fi set is very smooth with an android phone. One of my favorite aspects would be that the TV remote has a voice control button. It makes searches easier and quicker. Overall this TV will be a great addition to our home and we will be looking for more great Hisense products.
