Awesome PQ
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great TV PQ is one of the best for the price. I didn't know that the U8G came out the same week as my purchase. Returned and picked up the U8G for a little bit more. But if you don't want to spend that much for U8G get this tv.

Not worth your time
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had very high expectations for this TV being it is their top of the line TV. Picture is amazing when it is still. The moment something starts to move it’s terrible. My 5 yr old Visio P-series has better motion. I wouldn’t even waste your time on this one.

Hisense with a great picture for movies
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv has a beautiful HDR picture. The menu system is a little slow on this TV but after setting it up nothing else to worry about. Took it right out the box and the picture looks great. Going to have it calibrated at some point.

Good TV fair price
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TV is good so far. No problems and at a fair price. The setup on the other hand not so easy. The ap and android phone didn't work for me. I had to do it manually. Did get it working and I have no complaints so far. Good picture.

All-around excellent performer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Hisense H9G Quantum series is very versatile 4K television that should easily satisfy the vast majority of users. Its combination of picture quality and ease of use via its Android TV operating system make it a superb performer, and its metal-accented frame make it an attractive addition to any room. The TV is well-built and attractive, with a nice metal finish around the edges. The metal feet are just slightly tricky to install; I took two tries to get the screws in just right, but it oughtn’t cause anyone any issue. Mercifully, Hisense has bucked the trend of placing the feet on the outer edges, so you don’t need a hugely wide stand to place it. For those wall-mounting, you have a VESA mounting option. Once placed with the feet, the TV feels sturdy and stable. Since this TV uses Android TV, if you own an Android phone, setup could not be easier. Using your phone’s Google app and the “add device” command, it will connect and copy over your wifi and Google account information without the tedious use of an onscreen keyboard. (Manual setup is of course still an option.) Furthering the utility of a phone, you can also opt to use the built-in Chromecast capability of the phone to cast content directly from your phone, or you can use the built-in Android apps. Android’s app store is very well-stocked; it’s unlikely you’ll find that your favorite streaming app isn’t available one way or the other. While I don’t have objective tools like Spectracal software or a colorimeter, subjectively I was deeply impressed by the H9G’s picture quality. The TV is clearly a VA type panel, and as such possesses superior contrast ratio that is further enhanced by one of the great image improving technologies--full array local dimming (FALD). The large number of zones--132 as per the Hisense documentation I found--allows for greater control of the backlight. I noticed only minimal blooming in some areas (the Paramount Pictures logo at the beginning of “The Godfather had a little haloing around it), and the black level performance was excellent. The opening scene of “The Godfather”, (HDX quality, streamed from VUDU) with Bonasera the undertaker coming into view against a dark background, is a great test for contrast and black levels. The H9G aced this, with clearly defined detail in Bonasera’s clothes and in the background. I’ve seen other TVs collapse all of this detail such that it looks like his head is floating in space. Moving to HDR, performance was outstanding. With quantum dots, the set offers a wide color gamut, and Hisense claims 1000 nits of brightness. Again, I don’t have the tools to directly measure this, but I’ve never heard of any TV with quantum dots that didn’t have very good coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, and my eyes have absolutely no doubt on the 1000 nits claim--it can get very, very bright. The set has support for Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG formats. I saw listed HDR10+ support as well, but I didn’t see it engage in the Prime video app, so I am unsure about this. All of this--color, light output, contrast ratio--serve to give a really nice HDR experience. Despite being done with a 2K intermediate, my go-to HDR test film is still Pacific Rim. The Hong Kong scene in the middle was a great showcase of this set’s HDR chops. Likewise, a UHD copy of “The Matrix” demonstrated both its prowess with black levels and the ability to produce bright HDR highlights. Viewing angles are okay; it’s a tradeoff with this panel type, but it was acceptable to me. Light reflections were handled well from windows and light sources, and coupled with this panel’s high light output there shouldn’t be any issue with using this in a bright room. As for sound, I never have high expectations for audio from a flat panel TV because the speaker size is inherently limited, but apart from the lack of bass, these are plenty serviceable. Still I’d always recommend a sound bar for any flat panel TV, as even the lowliest of soundbars typically exceeds the abilities of the internal speakers. One caveat: take measure of your soundbars size, as the stand doesn’t give a ton of vertical lift to the TV. A beefy soundbar might occlude the lower part of the screen depending on how the high TV is placed. Obviously this isn’t an issue with wall-mounting, but for those using the included stand and wish to pair a sound bar might want to plan a bit. Connectivity options are solid but do lag just a bit behind some of its 2020 competitors. There are four HDMI ports, but they are not the newer HDMI 2.1 spec. ARC is supported, but not eARC, so more advanced audio codecs aren’t supported via ARC (standard Dolby Digital and DTS surround can still be outputted this way, but lossless codecs cannot.) Along with the HDMI ports you’ll find an ethernet port, two USB ports, a digital audio output, analog composite video input with RCA audio, and an additional 3.5mm audio port and antenna connector. Wireless A/C, Bluetooth, and built-in Chromecast support make up the wireless offerings. There is a dedicated gaming mode along with the native 120Hz refresh rate, and lag seems very, very minimal with consoles, but there isn’t support for the newer variable refresh rate technologies. Overall, the Hisense H9G is a really attractive set, in both hardware and software. The Android TV operating system (kudos to Hisense for not including ads) is fast and versatile, and the setup is a snap if you have an Android phone. In addition, even if you don’t have a native app for Android TV, chances are there is a mobile Android app with Chromecast support. It’s unlikely you’ll lack for any desired content. And the content you do choose to watch will be well-delivered courtesy of a panel with plenty of HDR horsepower via its high light output and wide color gamut. If you are in the market for a 55” TV (the H9G also comes in a 65” size), this definitely should be on your list to check out.

Great Picture for the Price.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV based on the reviews. The picture quality is outstanding with a few changes to the settings. The cable channels do not have a great picture but Netflix and Disney Channel have a better picture quality.

Great Picture
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve gotta say...I’m a bit impressed. I wasn’t sure about Hisense but they seem to have it together. I’ve been wanting an Android tv and could never find the right (reasonably priced) Sony model - so I took a chance. It’s convenient having the Google assistant on your tv accept when you want another device to respond. It pauses whatever is playing even if another device responds to the command. All and all, you’ll love this tv!

A Lot of TV for the Money
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great TV for the money. Built-In Android TV avoids the Roku/FireTV conflicts between HBOMax and Peacock. Outstanding picture and sound. Best feature could be Audio Only mode to fall asleep to ballgame.
