Brightness/contrast ratios on H9G surpasses all but OLED TVs at 3 to 5 times the price. Android FREE TV apps input from external Android TV box or installed on H9G work perfectly and eliminate need to reduce video size from 100% to 95% to see text on edges. TV does get hotter than all other big screens I have tested. DEFECTIVE AUDIO PROBLEM: Tried every possible audio setting but could not get 5.1 audio via digital output. Provided only 2.1 sound, regardless of live TV, app or external source via HDMI. Proved H9G defect by using same digital audio cable with 2 Samsung TVs which both sent 5.1 audio to home theatre receiver.

this is a very nice tv. The only thing I have an issue with is the sound. it is a very loud tv even at a very low volume I normally keep it about 5, but even now and then even in the same show/movie I have to turn it up sometimes as high as 30.

Hisense - 55" - H9G Quantum Series - 4K UHD TV - Smart - LED - with HDR I’m loving this new TV. I didn’t really know what to expect. Hisense isn’t the first brand that comes to mind when I think of televisions. That said, I did some research and found that they are making great strides and have become a cost friendly option for someone who wants a pretty darned good TV for less than $1k. When the box arrived, it had taken a bit of a beating from the carrier. The delivery guy even told me how to file a claim expecting it to be damaged. I was pleasantly surprised to find that everything worked great. I think that speaks well of their packaging processes and materials. I was also happy to find that most of the material was recyclable. Well done. Setup was a snap. You basically just use 4 screws to secure the feet to the TV and plug in the power cord. One thing to note…pay attention to the width of your TV stand. My old 55” tv fit on my stand with room to spare. This one is fully edge to edge…it just barely fit. It’s a wide base! When powered on, the TV ran through a simple and intuitive setup process. No problems at all. I connected it via hardline to my network. It took a few minutes to update its operating system and then I was off and running. It has 4 HDMI inputs, which is plenty for me. I connected a soundbar, screen sharing device, Apple TV, and a Blu-ray player. HDMI 1 is set up for ARC, which allows all the audio from my other three devices to flow through to my home theater system. All 4 HDMI ports used. Be advised that this is ARC…not eARC. That means it will not send Dolby Atmos from my 4k Blu-ray player through to my sound bar. It still sounds awesome…it’s just worth noting if you are an audiophile. ARC WILL send Dolby Atmos through from streaming services because of the way those services encode the details into their stream. It only matter when playing a 4k disk. All my devices worked perfectly as soon as I hooked them up. No issues at all. There is a setting in the menu that allows the TV remote to control all devices hooked up via HDMI. I turned that on, and suddenly, instead of needing to keep 4 remotes in my lap, I only needed the one. I still must grab one now and then to change a setting or option, but for general use, everything works through the TV remote. I love the fact that this is an android TV. I’ve never had such flexibility to load and manage apps before. I was able to get the apps for all my favorite streaming services and set them up directly on my TV. It’s so flexible, it allowed me to pull the Apple TV off completely and move it to a different room of the house. It also has built in Chromecast. Finally, it has its own screen mirror app that has worked perfectly so far when I want to throw a pic or vid from my android phone. I was able to move my other screen sharing device to a different room in the house. All the things I used to do took 4 devices…now I can do them all on 1. The menus are super easy to navigate, and you can set up a list of favorite apps for quick access. The picture is fantastic from what I can see. Obviously, this TV lives at a certain price point, but for its cost, I think it’s very good. I haven’t seen any issues with fast motion or tearing. It super bright. I had to turn down the backlight. It was hurting my eyes in the evening. It has an auto sensor to set backlight, but I don’t really enjoy seeing it adjust, so I just set it at a happy medium and left it alone. It streams 4k content perfectly over my Gigabit internet connection. I really don’t have any complaints at all about the quality of the picture. I use a home theater system, but the built-in speakers are surprisingly loud. You could certainly get by with them if you aren’t into bulky systems and cables all over. The digital tuner works well. I don’t have cable, so over the air stations are important to me. There are a couple of quirks that I don’t love. The TV allows you to give an HDMI input a custom label. For whatever reason, my labels won’t stick. I type them in and hit done. It goes back a screen and still shows the default label. It’s not a deal breaker, I know what inputs my stuff is on, but it’s slightly irritating. This TV also has built in Google Assistant that can be enabled when you run through initial setup. I turned it on thinking it would be fun to play with. I quickly found a flaw, however. It has a built-in mic on the front of the tv as well as a mic on the remote. Every time a Google commercial come on or someone says Google in passing dialogue, the mic picks up the name Google and the assistant turns itself on waiting for you to ask a question. It throws a gray banner up over the bottom quarter of the screen waiting for your input. It goes away in a few seconds, but it’s annoying. There is a simple switch on the front of the TV to turn off the mic. I may have to do that if it keeps turning itself on when I’m watching TV. I definitely like this TV and would not hesitate to recommend it.

This is a great TV for the price. I originally looked at bigger name brands, but I'm mostly very happy with the audio and video quality. The only issue I've had is the audio sometimes sounding tinny, but this might be the fault of certain apps (specifically HBO Max and Disney+) rather than the TV itself. Playing around with the audio settings hasn't remedied this yet. The Chromecast feature was a nice bonus and comes with apps that even Roku doesn't.
