|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Hisense - 55" - H9G Quantum Series has excellent picture quality and features, but there is some room for improvement in which hopefully can be fixed in later software updates. As a standalone TV, you are getting some of the latest in Audio and Visual technology with HDR along with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. But for those die hard home theatre fans, even though you may not be using the TV speakers, the Dolby Atmos feature still plays a role in the overall experience in terms of the Android TV applications which I will explain later. Initial set up is a breeze, but it does require an internet connection. Unfortunately these Android TVs are not meant for folks who just want to view over the air network television or video components. I did find that the default display settings are not very optimal for every day viewing. This is due to the excellent refresh rate of 120 Hz along capability playing high quality video formats. The good news is, there are some preset settings you can plan around with such as Motion Enhancement and Motion Clearness to balance it to your viewing preferences and eliminate the “Soap Opera” affect which can make movies look terrible in my Opinion. The main menu for Android TV is intuitive which gives you quick access to all of your app downloads as well as recommended and continue watching for app content. Within the Application list as well as the remote control, there is an app/button for Live TV. There is a big flaw on this design, which I am hoping can get fixed in later software releases, otherwise watching live TV whether it is via over the air or through a cable box can be a big pain. What I have found is that upon clicking this app or icon, it will bring to the last used Input. So, for example, if I have an Xbox connected to HDMI input 2 and that was the last activity prior to going back to the Android main menu. TV button will bring you directly Input 2. So if I want to get to Live TV, I must go to my Inputs menu and select Channel for the coaxial input. This renders the button useless if you use multiple TV inputs. As for TV apps, there is a wide selection to download from as this is from Google Play App store. The key thing to note here is that it is a Google Play store. So for those Apple TV folks who either uses an apple TV or a Roku to stream Apple TV content, this TV will not replace the need for all of your streaming devices. Regardless of whether you use a home theatre audio system or the TV speakers, if your only streaming option is through the Android TV, rather than a third party device such as Roku or Apple TV, the fact that this TV has Dolby Atmos plays a factor here. From my experiences, application installed on streaming devices is smart enough to know what quality of Audio and Video your device can support and makes it available. For example, when I go to a Netflix Movie on the Android TV vs using a Roku. Even though the movie is the same, you can see that the audio and video formats are different. So where available, streaming movies from this TV will stream with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, which again is up with the best of content that can be offered today. A high quality display is only good if you have the high quality content. Don’t get me wrong, you will still get a great display for over the air television and watching DVD/Blu Rays. But to get the most satisfaction out of this display is being able to playback or stream 4k HDR content. Android TV is still relatively new and because you are dealing with an operating system, you may from time to time run into the OS related issues. Within a week of using this TV, the Android OS did randomly reboot out of nowhere. The volume display on the TV does not align with the volume out of my AVR. I did have an issue with blurry content on one occasion, which sometimes can be attributed to the streaming service. I have seen this problem on occasion with other streaming devices, so not out of the ordinary. Other than the initial boot up or restarting Android OS, turning on the TV loads the OS pretty quickly. Google Assist is fantastic on this TV, which can also work while the TV is on or off (if enabled in the settings). The microphone picks up normal speaking voice with no problems from my testing at 12-15ft away. As long as you have the Google Home app installed on a smart phone or tablet to set up devices to your account, this TV will act as a hub for home automation. And if you are already have Google Home set up, then once through the initial set up of the TV, you are connected to all of those same devices. The TV does highlight that it does support Amazon Alexa services, which I was unable to get established. Within the settings you can enable the service which walks you through to syncing up your TV, however I have found that RemoteNow Application that they advise to install does not locate the TV on a WiFi connection, therefore rendering the Amazon Alexa support useless. So if you are shopping for a TV to integrate with Alexa home automation, this currently would not be the TV to get until the support actually works. Overall, the TV is really good. Supports the latest in Audio and Video technology. Sure there are some bugs that could be worked out, but if you can live with those nuances, then you are receiving a good value on this set.

Easy and simple interface

motion blur on the tv is horrendous

Its hard to not notice it anymore. I switch the multiple motion clearity options and its all the same. Its too bad I cant return it anymore. I would not recommend this tv. The tv also came with a broken USB connection but that didn't matter to me as much as the bad picture quality.

But was quickly disappointed. The picture is not good and it started having pixel failures after two days. So I had to return it. Stick with a name brand. I ended up with an LG that is better in every possible way for the same price.

Quality Product?

I know the TV is very well rated but I can only speak to my experience. This review is not reflective of the TV picture but its quality and/or craftmanship. Avoid at all costs.

The first one was returned due to backlight bleed. The second one was returned due to a dead pixel. After determining that my experience with this model was consistent with the complaints of other customers regarding poor quality control, I then decided to purchase any set by another manufacturer.
