TLDR: The picture quality gap between LED and OLED has gotten to a point where differences are minimal, especially if a vast majority of your TV viewing is streaming. PROS Extremely Accurate White Balance Excellent Color Reproduction Excellent Color Uniformity Throughout Panel Excellent FALD Light Control 144Hz Panel with Variable Refresh Rate HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos CONS Still doesn’t match OLED’s inky blacks Fire TV OS not for everyone Not all HDMI Inputs support 144Hz CONNECTIVITY 4 HDMI (2x 2.1 & 2 x 2.0) 1 x Ethernet 2 x USB 1 x Composite (Audio & Video) 1 x Optical S/PDIF SET-UP Anyone with an Amazon account will have no issues setting up the Hisense QD7. It takes a maximum of 30 seconds. Power up the TV, select home use, scan the QR code on the screen with your phone and that is it. The Amazon app does the rest. It is slick, quick, and simple. Once linked to your account, the TV will check for any new software updates and automatically apply them. After rebooting, you get the option to restore the Hisense from any other FireTV devices on your account. Should you have one, the Amazon app will download all your apps and mirror the Hisense after your selected FireTV device. It is super easy to use and manipulate. Even though FireTV isn’t my first choice of media streamers, I can’t argue with the simplicity of the set-up process. COLOR ACCURACY I had minimal hopes for the QD7. For the better part of the last 5 years, I have been watching on the first generation of OLED TV’s. At the time, my TV was impressive, with unrivaled black levels and contrast. In addition, when I installed the TV, I was able to get the TV calibrated nearly perfectly, with every parameter measuring a Delta Error of less than 2 (Delta Errors less than 2, mean color inaccuracies imperceptible to the human eye). It has been an awesome TV from day one. However, after all these years, I finally got bit by the Achilles heel of OLED TV, screen burn-in. My wife’s fascination with the news has forever burned in the banner across the bottom of the TV. Ugh. After installing the Hisense and watching content for a couple of nights, I arbitrarily decided that the panel was broken-in and I could test its accuracy. After making some preliminary adjustments to get the picture in the ballpark, it was time to measure the panel with calibration equipment. So, the big question is; just how does the QD7 compare to the OLED. Is it as accurate? Technically, no it isn’t. The QD7 struggles with red from 0 – 20%. This means that in these low light situations, the image is slightly more red than perfect. However, from 30% – 100% color accuracy is impressive. Measuring Delta Errors less than 2 in all primary and secondary colors along with near perfection in overall white balance (at least according to my colorimeter and accompanying freeware/shareware calibration software). Frankly the little bit of error in the low end is imperceptible. Colors don’t look distorted or odd. It is a statistical anomaly more than anything (at least to my eye). BACKLIGHT vs OLED When comparing TV’s today, everything revolves around the OLED. It sets the standard for contrast, black levels, and picture quality. So, how does the QD7 compare? Very well. I’m not sure how many dimming zones the QD7 has, but it is a bunch. There’s no light bleeding around the top and bottom on movies mastered in 2.35:1. Black bars on the top and bottom of movies are BLACK. No bleeding. Same with old school shows shot in the 4:3 format. Black bars on the sides of the program are black. No bleeding. I’m a big fan of sci-fi movies. Any movie set in outer space is the bane of LED TVs. They have an extremely hard time controlling light output. Typically, outer space isn’t black; it’s an odd shade of gray. It just can’t be stopped. Edge-lit TV’s only make the problem that much worse. However, the QD7 boasts a direct backlit display with FALD (Full Array Local Dimming). Light control from the panel is impressive. There is minimal blooming and minimal artifacts. I was taken aback at just how impressive the QD7 can control its light output. Does it match the inky blacks and contrast of an OLED? No. But it is close. Very close. So much so, I would venture to bet unless you had both TV’s side by side, you would be hard pressed to tell a difference. GAMING The QD7 supports an impressive 144Hz refresh rate from its 4k panel. The TV immediately changes to game mode when connecting to a PC or console. My gaming laptop was immediately recognized as was my Xbox Series X. My gaming laptop was able to take full advantage of the 144Hz refresh rate; my Xbox played at 120Hz. I noticed no discernible lag or input delay. Maybe if I was a full-time gamer, it would matter, for me it makes no difference. Images are bright, vibrant, and judder free even with the quickest of moves. FINAL THOUGHTS I was not prepared to like the QD7 as much as I do. I have been an OLED snob for years now. The more I watch content on the QD7, the more I like it. QLED and LED technology have progressed a bunch in the past 5 years since I got my first gen OLED. The QD7 has a picture quality that was unimaginable a few years ago. Blacks are now black. Can it match the true performance of OLED’s black levels? No. But the gap has narrowed to the point where the differences are minimal. There is one area where the QD7 totally dominates my OLED. That is overall brightness. The QD7 can get extremely bright. FAR brighter than my OLED ever could. So much so that in a dark room, it almost hurts your eyes. At the end of the day, here is the question: Would I trade my OLED (assuming it didn’t have burn-in) for the QD7? I have to say: Yes. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but what the QD7 gives up in black level, it makes up for in brightness and vibrance. The differences aren’t enough to sway me back to the OLED. I took my OLED off the wall and installed the QD7. A true back-to-back comparison. The QD7 is an impressive offering from Hisense. From the shear size of the TV, to the brightness, to the excellent light control, the QD7 has a lot going for it. The calibrated QD7’s colors are richer and more vibrant than they ever have been on my calibrated OLED. RECOMMENDED

I've been pretty impressed with Hisense's TV's. I have one of their UH8 series TV's and much prefer it to my Sony Bravia. While this QD7 series isn't quite as good as those, it's very good for the price. I got the 85" version and it looks really good. It doesn't quite match the detail or brightness of the higher end TV's and some lower quality content doesn't look as good, but it's plenty bright and is really good for movie watching, sports and gaming as well. There are some settings that can be adjusted to get the picture looking pretty good, including some AI enhancements. You get HDR including Dolby Vision and the picture quality of that kind of content is really good. Out of the box it's not perfect, and dark scenes lack some detail, but with proper setting adjustments you can get it looking pretty good. One thing I was impressed with is the speakers. Maybe it's because it's 85" and they can fit a little better speaker in it but I'm not sure if that's the case because it's really no thicker than my other TV's. It's not going to replace a home theater setup obviously, or even a decent soundbar setup with rear speakers, but it does rival my stand alone soundbar. I actually haven't even hooked that up to it. With the voice clarity adjustments and the Dolby Atmos built in, it actually gets pretty loud and creates a big of a sound field for directional sounds. Gaming with it is really great too, especially with the size. You can see so much more. But also the VRR and native refresh rate makes everything really smooth. I notice the smoothness on movies and sports as well. This is my first TV with FireTV. All of my other ones have Android TV or Google TV so I wasn't sure what to expect. I think it works just fine though. You can download all the same streaming apps and everything and the overall UI is easy to navigate. So far I haven't noticed anything I might miss from Android or Google TV. One other thing I liked, again probably due to the size, and maybe other larger TV's have these (though my 75" ones didn't) is they put actual handles on the back of the TV. I was worried about being able to get get it up on a stand but my 14 year old daughter and I had no problem safely and careful maneuvering using these handles. I have thought about hanging on a wall yet due to the weight (and it doesn't have a mount for hanging either - so that's an extra cost) but with the included feet it's perfectly stable sitting on a TV stand. So if you're in the market for a TV in this price range I wouldn't hesitate recommending this one.

This tv was tricky to put the feet on because it’s so large, I could not lay it flat on the table and laying it on the carpet did not allow enough height space to put the feet on. But finally with three us working together we got them on. I assume it would be same any large tv if the feet wasn’t a one that could rotate. I do plan to wall mount it, I purchased that separately, but couldn’t get it done in time for this review. So it’s standing on the rug right now because I don’t have a tv stand big enough to put it on before we hang it on the wall over the weekend. It is huge and the children love that it’s so large. This is my first time using a Hisense tv and I wasn’t sure what to expect but was hopeful. This did not disappointment. Other than putting the feet/stand on, set-up was quick and simple. Just plugged in it, set up wifi, and connected it to my Amazon Alexa account and within a couple minutes we could watch tv! It was very convenient since I had a fire tv already, it was able to put all the same settings unto this one for me. The picture was great, from watching movies, tv shows, basketball and tennis games, musical, concerts, and YouTube videos with no concerns. Using the xbox and playstation both worked great as expected just like the other tv we typical use the games on but wanted to test them out on this one too. Picture is clear and flowed flawlessly, smooth and not choppy. The sound for all these are very good. I don’t think I need a sound bar. It comes with two handles in the back for easier movement. Gives quick access to the popular apps. It offers all the connections we need, hdmi, usb, headphone, etc. It offers conveniences that other similar tv does, timer, screen saver, and screen share from cell phone. One really cool thing that we love about this in the AI Art feature. You can press the Alexa button on the remote or speak to Alexa and ask her to create something and she does. Among many things, we asked to create a beautiful sunny day at beach, fun day at the playground, picnic at the lake, etc. That is pretty cool and my first experience with it. One thing I was disappointed about was that when I told Alexa to turn on the tv, she couldn’t find it but if it was on, she could turn it off. I thought it was strange because it was communicating with the tv, after pressing buttons in the tv setting menu, I found that I needed to enable Matter Casting and once I did that, it worked great. I would say this is great tv and would recommend for the value, cost and quality.

I am extremely satisfied with my purchase of the Hisense 85” QD7 Series Mini-LED QLED TV from Best Buy. The picture quality is outstanding—bright, sharp, and incredibly vibrant. The Mini-LED backlighting delivers excellent contrast, deep blacks, and impressive HDR performance. Colors look very natural and the 4K clarity is superb, especially on sports, movies, and streaming content. The Fire TV interface is fast and easy to use, and switching between apps or HDMI inputs is smooth. Setup was simple, and the build quality of the TV feels solid and premium for its price. Overall, this TV offers fantastic value for the size and features it delivers. I’m extremely happy with the purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a big-screen, high-quality 4K TV.

This TV is a clear step up from last year's QD7 model. Although it maintains some great features like HDR 10+, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, the new panel is Mini LED and the backlighting now features FALD (Full Aray Local Dimming) technology unlike last year's regular LED, direct lit panel. This 2025 model also features improved motion enhancement technology. The result is gorgeous picture quality with fantastic color accuracy and incredibly good black levels and contrast. Seriously, this TV rivals some (especially older) OLED panels in black levels. I can't speak for foot mounting as I put this on the wall immediately. At 85" this TV is BIG and heavy so the carrying handles helped out greatly when mounting. I got this to pair with my new Switch 2 and the gaming performance has been great on this TV. The Switch 2 Welcome Tour game that showcases 120Hz looked great. I'm not an audiphiole by any means but the two 30 watt Dolby Atmos speakers sound great. My wife couldn't believe that the sound was coming out of the TV... she was convinced I had my sound barhooked up. Needless to say the sound bar is finding a new home. This TV is packed with great features that are unrivaled for the price (less than $1000) in my opinion. Highly recommended!

I recently bought the Hisense 85” QD7 Mini-LED TV, and honestly I’m blown away by how good this thing looks for the price. The picture quality is insane. The colors pop, blacks look deep, and the brightness is really impressive especially when I’m watching movies at night.

I picked up the Hisense 85" QD7 MiniLED Fire TV, and honestly it surprised me in a good way. The picture looks super clean and bright, and the colors really pop without looking fake. Watching movies on an 85-inch screen feels like being at the theater. Dark scenes look way better than my older LED TV, and sports look smooth with almost no blur. The Fire TV system is easy to use, and it loaded all my apps right away. Alexa voice control works well too. Sound is fine for daily watching, but if you care about audio you’ll probably want a soundbar. For the size and picture quality you get, the price feels like a steal. If you’re thinking about going big and want something that looks high-end without spending crazy money, this TV is worth it. I’m really happy with it so far.

This is a very impressive, large smart TV with excellent technology. It’s extremely big and heavy, so I strongly recommend having two people available to handle and install it. The build quality is very sturdy, and the overall design feels solid and well made. Picture quality is outstanding, and the sound is fantastic with great volume and clarity. If cinematic viewing is your passion, this big-screen smart TV is an excellent choice. It’s definitely not suitable for small rooms. A nice feature is the two built-in handles on the back, which make lifting and maneuvering the TV much easier.

I have to be honest. I never though too highly of Hisense. A buddy of mine shared with me some reviews by a few video guru's and I was impressed. I really needed a new TV as my 75" Samsung died after only 4 years. I have had this unit now about a month and I am blown away. The black on this screen is more black than I have ever experienced and the colors are vivid and true. What a great bargain.

Ok, I didn't visit the showroom and see it in person, but that has never worked before because the picture is never optimized for the showroom. It comes set with a standard brightness, not vivid and even that is not bright enough but when Sports is selected it really comes to life. I have a really big living room with a big picture window and several LED ceiling lights right in front of the TV so, it is very bright and still not a problem. I chose this TV the same way I pick a processor and motherboard, compare the features I want and the price I can get them for. The features do not disappoint, it has the Q dot matrix picture with mini LED's and full local dimming. It seems all TV's use the same processor but some features are not available in different TV models. Two 144 hz outputs with Dolby vision and Atmos plus filmmaker mode. I am not using the Fire TV part because I have an Nvidia box with direct internet plugin but I may install all my apps later. Now for the picture, wow it looks great. Once I chose the sports setting it was as bright as any TCL that I have, only I can see all the black layers even in low light settings of the Living dead series. Mostly it is absolutely perfect except for a few videos that showed some extra red on the faces, but I dropped the red hue about two clicks and now everything is almost lifelike, actually kind of weird to see a soap that looks like I am standing in the same room with them. I don't really watch sports but action movies don't seem to blur or skip and are crisp and clear throughout. I don't think you will find a better TV with all the features this has at this price point, you won't. I am very happy with the purchase and again the picture is just wow in 4k and even really good in 1080 with the AI upscaling.

Excellent features for the price and worth paying a few extra hundred over the bottom tier TV's available. Picture quality is fantastic, the remote is simple, intuitive and great with fast response times, and set up was very simple. The TV might not be as thin as some others...if that is important to you or not but that is attributed to a built in Dolby Atmos sound bar. I could care less that its an inch or two thicker. I have it hooked up to a high end surround speakers so I can't give you a review of its internal sound bar since I haven't listened to it. I would happily buy this same TV again.
