When it works it’s an awesome TV but when it don’t it’s a nightmare. From the day it was hooked up it has not been able to turn back on without a hard reset each time. Which completely resets all settings. It will turn off with no issues but absolutely will not turn on. Best Buy customer service/support is awful!! No support at all. The reason for the low stars is the turn on issues and lack of Best Buy and Hisense support.

I had high hopes for this television. I spent close to two years doing research on different TVs to replace my 2017 Samsung series 9. I landed on the U8N because of specs on paper. In reality this tv performs worse than some $500 TCL I have. The back light management is atrocious. No matter what you do the picture is either blown out and overexposed or too dark and grainy. If you feed this TV high quality 4K Dolby Vision content you might be OK with it but the reality is most content we watch is low bandwidth 720 P or 1080 P and this is where this TV falls flat on its face, the upscale processing is nonexistent most of the time it didn’t know what to do with colors if I only had one of these, I would chuck it up to being a bad set, but I purchased four and all four did the same thing if this TV was only six or $700 that I could understand the shortcomings, but this is advertised as the flagship for this brand. In the end, I spent less money on a Sony and got a way better product.

Hello Jehoida, Thank you for reviewing the Hisense 85U8N. This TV supports 4K upscaling. However, the upscaling procedure doesn't transform a lower resolution into a higher one; it's more of an approximation. Consequently, an image upscaled to fit the pixel count of a TV screen won't resemble an image originally filmed in 4K. If you require technical assistance, please reach out to our dedicated support team directly at 1-888-935-8880 or via email at Service@Hisense-usa.com so that we can promptly address and resolve the issue for you. Here is my thoughts based on my experience if you're thinking about getting the Hisense 85" Class U8 Series Mini-LED 4K UHD QLED Smart Google TV (2024) for your home: Visual: The images are of exceptional quality. The TV's Mini-LED and QLED technologies produce brilliant colors, deep blacks, and remarkable brightness levels. HDR content appears especially beautiful, especially when viewed in Dolby Vision. Sitting directly in front of the screen is the best way to view it, though, as I have found that wide angles reduce the quality of the images. Gaming:  I appreciate the native 144Hz refresh rate and support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) as a gamer. The overall gaming experience is improved by the Game Mode Pro feature, which lowers input lag and makes games run smoothly. It's a good addition to have a game bar that shows the FPS counter. The Best Purchase Smart Features: A variety of streaming services are accessible through the Google TV platform's user-friendly interface. Convenience is increased by voice control through Google Assistant and Alexa compatibility. But I ran into a few software bugs, like app update problems that needed to be fixed with a factory reset. Furthermore, in comparison to other brands, the built-in OS can feel a little slow, so for a more seamless experience, I chose to use an external streaming device. CustRevs Audio Quality: The TV's integrated speakers produce crisp, engrossing sound and support Dolby Atmos. The TV's audio is adequate for casual viewing, but in larger spaces, it would be better to pair it with a soundbar or external sound system. SFGATE Overall Value: The Hisense 85U8N provides outstanding value for the money when taking into account its features and performance. It offers a superior viewing experience that competes with more costly TVs, even though it might not be as refined as premium models from other brands. This model is a good option if you're searching for a large-screen TV with strong gaming capabilities and stunning visuals. Advantages: Outstanding image quality with rich blacks and vivid colors VRR and a refresh rate of 144 Hz provide fluid gaming performance. Voice control and an easy-to-use Google TV interface Reasonably priced for its feature set Cons: Wide viewing angles result in a decrease in picture quality. Resets are necessary for occasional software issues. The built-in operating system may be slow; for best results, use an external streaming device. In closing, the Hisense 85" U8 Series TV is a great option for home entertainment because it provides an unbeatable combination of features, performance, and affordability.

Went back and forth deciding between this and the TCL Qm8 and Samsung qn90d. Couldnt be happier with my decision. Such a good value for the money. Oled-like inky blacks, beautiful vibrant colors, amazing response time for gaming. My main worry, upscaling for broacast sports has proven to be a non-issue. Motion handling is incredible. I dont see any judder at all when watching fast moving images at all. My second worry, upscaling low resolution feeds are handled very well. And as for off-angle viweing, it us a non-issue compared to 5 years ago. I watch from my kitchen at 45+ degrees with hardly any noticible picture fading. Dolby vision looks incredible when streaming movies from Netflix. Save yourself the money and worry and try this tv. Get the geek squad warranty and sleep well at night knowing you’ll have an awesome tv for many years to come.

Black is black. I love watching widescreen on this because the top and bottom bars are invisible in a dark room. The color is intense, I didn’t even bother to do any calibration other than to turn off the fast motion. The backlighting is fantastic for the price point. Dolby Vision content is awesome. The interface is fast and responsive, and I love that I can search with my voice and that the remote is backlit. It also turns on like within one second (I may have set it to be that way.) I use an external sound system through HDMI ARC and then TV immediately made the sound incredible with clear vocals in my center channel and highly present front channels and powerful surround. I did nothing other than plug the cable in. My older TV was sending digital audio, but just was not like this.

Overall a great TV, I was debating this TV vs the 2025 U7 and this has a higher brightness. Great viewing angles and picture quality. I have this outside, so primarily for watching sports, etc under the covered patio. It's become a family favorite area over the few years old OLED TV's.

The 2024 U8N mini-LED I purchased has a simple remote control, nice colors, fast refresh rates for gaming, and built-in streaming apps. Great value! It is much heavier than the 8 year old LG B4 OLED it replaced. So far we don’t have any complaints. But only time will tell.

Great color, brightness and images. The 85” is very heavy though compared to other brands of same size. Feature I like is you’re able to turn off screen and still have audio play like music from YouTube or other services.

✅ You want a Mini-LED TV for its performance: Its peak brightness exceeds any TV around that price, and its color reproduction is as good as some of this year’s best TVs. ✅ You use Google devices and services: Google TV is smart and well-rounded, especially for those in Google’s ecosystem, and who already use services like Google Assistant. ✅ You want a TV with good sound: Audio performance is a lot like the HDR performance — it’s great. The U8N's 2.1.2 speaker system is plenty powerful for most medium-sized living rooms.

This is the BESTMINI led TV for the money. Blows away Samsung, Sony, TCl. Picture quality is really unbelievable. I can't so enough good things about this TV. Super bright. Fulll array local dimming with close to 2000 nits. I am not a big fan of the Google interface, but I use an Apple TV box anyway. Get one now!!

Very impressive at this price point. Plenty of detailed reviews out there if you want to dig deeper. I have OLED TVs as well and they are great but this TV is VERY close in my opinion. And it is crazy bright! One negative...when you turn it all the way down or mute, it puts a stupid little symbol in the corner that does not go away! Hoping they fix it in a software update.

We have owned several superb televisions to include OLED technology. The Hisense U8 is amazing! We started with a 65" for the bedroom and based upon it went to the 85" for the family room. Since it was at a lower price point than other major brands, we were concerned that the picture quality would not be as great, but that concern is now totally unfounded. It could be the best picture so far and we have heartily recommended it to family and friends. Btw, the experts working at Best Buy are the reason we went with the U8 series and we are very grateful for their assistance.

This 85-inch Hisense TV is an absolute steal! The picture quality is fantastic, and for the price, you absolutely cannot beat it. I've had zero issues with it so far, and the Google TV system is incredibly smooth and responsive. What I love: Massive screen: The 85 inches truly makes a difference in creating an immersive viewing experience. Crystal-clear picture: The picture quality is superb, with vibrant colors and sharp details. Unbeatable value: I did a lot of research before buying this TV, and nothing came close to offering this size and quality at this price point. Seamless Google TV integration: Navigating through apps and streaming services is a breeze with Google TV. No problems: It's been completely reliable since day one. If you're looking for a huge TV that doesn't break the bank, look no further. I highly recommend this Hisense!

When I was looking to upgrade from my 65-inch Samsung TV to an 85-inch TV, I was inclined to stick with Samsung, as I have been a loyal consumer of their entertainment products for years. When I began researching the latest TVs on the market, I kept reading about how Hisense was highly rated, right behind Samsung and Sony for picture quality, but at a much better price point, so I decided to buy the U8. I must say it is far better than I expected, and the picture quality is fantastic. When it came time to order it, I of course went to BestBuy. They offered the best price, and I knew from past installations, Geek Squad would take care of me as well. The Geek Squad arrived on time; they installed the TV and even moved my old TV to a downstairs bedroom. Shoutout to those installers! When it comes to products, installation, price and convenience, there is only one place I choose to make my purchases, and I will remain a faithful BestBuy customer for the very reasons mentioned here.

An overall great value. Near-oled performance, plenty of configurability, and suited well for both traditional content consumption and gaming. Capable of getting painfully bright while maintaining deep blacks while minimizing backlight bleed so often plaguing local dimming LCDs. Google TV is fairly smooth and snappy; a marked improvement from previous Hisense TVs I've used. While it won't perform quantatively as well as more expensive OLED displays in per-pixel light control, response times, or viewing angles, 95%+ of the time it's perceptually right there with the best TVs on the market, despite being roughly half the price. I highly recommend it for all use cases as, again, the value proposition on offer here is borderline-unmatched!
