Disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, I bought this because of the price and the picture was great! It was half the price of an OLED. The setup was pretty easy, but there are quite a few settings and I wasn't really sure what everything should be set to, so I looked it up online to see what a good starting point was. The picture was great and the sound was much better than my Samsung. I bought it on Dec. 26th, picked up on the 30th, had it on the wall the next day.... 3 months later, March 26th, TV had no power. The LED that would show there is power wasn't even lit up. I tried doing resets, unplugged, everything that is suggested. Called Best Buy because I have the coverage plan, well they cannot help at all because the TV is still under manufacturer warranty. Guess I didn't understand that they didn't cover anything until after a year when the manufacturer's warranty ran out. So, I call Hisense and they said they will get a technician out to look at it. They ordered parts that I didn't even know about. The tech came on 4/01 and replaced the boards and wire ribbon that were sent. TV had power, but the screen was very dim and blurry, couldn't read or really see it. Hisense decided to try to replace more parts so, another work order created on 4/06, tech finally came on 4/16. He looked at it and they determined it was a panel issue and the TV had to be field destroyed, so he scratched the screen and left. So, I am sitting now with the TV on my living room floor waiting to hear what happens next. I am supposed to get a new TV, which I will have to go and pick up because I am outside of the delivery area and I am supposed to get rid of the bad TV. Not very happy with the experience and inconvenience. I did like the picture though but have a hard time recommending this product because of the issue. Maybe I just got a bad TV but I will probably not buy another Hisense. At least they are replacing it also.

Delivery experience
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I haven’t had a chance to use the TV yet, and unfortunately, I may never do so because the delivery staff handled it extremely carelessly. They were literally carrying the TV as if it were a trash bag. As a result, I am concerned that the screen may already be cracked or damaged. I was unable to inspect the TV at the time of delivery because I had to leave for work. Based on this experience, I strongly recommend not purchasing an 85” TV from Best Buy. Unprofessional Service
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The reason for my “poor” overall rating on this survey is because even though I was reimbursed for it, when I went into the store to purchase the television, I paid for additional services like total digital set up and removal of the existing television. We decided to not have the existing television hauled away so, they reimbursed the charge. They delivered & installed the wrong TV and performed no additional services.

Another home run by Hisense
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I currently have a Hisense 60” 4k (2/18) and a 75” U6G 4k (8/21) that are both still working great. This new 85” U8QG model is the best yet and the picture, sound and multiple settings makes it a true winner. It is heavy – 150 packing weight, TV 100 lbs and 120 with base. So, if sitting on a stand/wall make sure it can handle this weight. Also to have a couple of friends (or maybe Geek Squad) available to help set up. Packaging is well thought out. Cut off a few plastic strips wrapping around box, remove a couple of lock handles and the box opens clam style allowing you to slide TV out easily. The 2 side Styrofoam protection pieces are used to cradle the tv on the floor while you to install the base. The base has two height options (I choose the one allowing most height) and is attached using 4 screws. Make sure you get all the wrapping material off. TV comes with basic setup and function descriptions. As is the case with prior Hisense TV’s I could write pages and pages concerning all the settings options – that now include AI - but would suggest going to Hisense site when registering and downloading the complete guide. All connections are on the left side of TV as you stand in front looking at it. Power is on the right. While all 3 HDMI inputs are 165Hz with 1 supporting eARC which is at least 1 to few in my opinion. I used 1 connection for soundbar eARC, 1 for cable connection and 1 for 4k Blu-ray (yes it isn’t used much anymore due to streaming) so I am left with no open connection for gaming computer – dis-appointing. I do have an old VHS player that I connected using AV port and it worked okay. I have wi-fi 7 mesh system with one satellite inches from the TV so wireless 6e connection and streaming has been very fast. It does have a hard wired ethernet connection as well. I really like Google TV and signing into my existing account was fast and easy. So, the home screen looked like my other Hisense tv’s, but I did have to sign into all my streaming services. I am still tweaking the 16:9 screen options days later. I normally turn off all “auto/intelligent” enhancements and then try one at time. But the picture is fantastic especially when streaming 4k high-def content. Using 1080P cable I watched old movies on TCM, then basketball playoffs, auto racing and regular content on various channels and all looked great. Supports Dolby Vision, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10, HDR 10+, HDR10+ Adaptive, HLG. 480 motion rate and 165Hz refresh rate. I didn’t notice much glare and the screen was clear viewing from any angle. 1 USB-A 3.0 and 1 2.0 connections. I attached a 2TB external drive with NTFS fromat and it recognized drive as another input and I was able to play my downloaded moves in mp4 and m2ts formats. Picture was great and even played with Dolby Atmos sound. I also was able to turn closed caption on/off (old ears). The tv is a tad thick, maybe to allow for the speakers. It has several sound options as well as an equalizer, but most are only available if no external speaker (eARC soundbar) is connected. I turned my soundbar off to test tv speakers and was impressed but tv is not wall mounted. It has earphone/audio out jack as well as digital audio optical out connection. Remote well thought out with reasonably sized/tactile buttons. Has voice control which I found works well. It finally has some backlit buttons. I set the TV to have Google assistant on all the time. So, I can turn lights on/off easily through TV. 2-year warranty - nice Also, if you select an option, it will minimize it to allow much more of screen to show to see effects of your choice. But there is no exit button to take you back to the main screen, you must go back through all the screens/options. There was one odd “issue”. I had to tweak my Sony Atmos soundbar settings as the rear speakers volume seemed to increase by 50%. I am not sure if this is due to better input from tv but I did have to make changes. It certainly sounds better overall. Also, with my 2 ¾ “ tall soundbar sitting on the stand it did not block my cable remote from adjusting the volume. A fantastic TV and it is a definite recommendation.

Hisense is low tier and overrated.
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hisense TV’s are not worth the money. They use cheap plastic for their units and the picture is mediocre at best. Plus they have terrible customer service.

Posted .Hello Colin, Thank you for your review on the Hisense 85U8QG and for sharing your feedback. We would like to clarify that while the native refresh of this unit is 165 Hz, Motion Enhancement (image interpolation) doubles the motion rate to 480 Hz by creating new frames and inserting them in-between frames, which can alleviate motion blur. If you require technical assistance, please reach out to our dedicated support team directly at 1-888-935-8880 or via email at Service@Hisense-usa.com so that we can promptly address and resolve the issue for you. Thanks again, Harley with the Hisense Support Team.

A great investment for the whole family!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For starters I 85in hisense U8K back in 2024 and my family instantly fell n in love with the screen because it immediately made family movie night exciting. Being a big family who plays videos games the TV works amazing. Sadly we moved and that TV got damaged in a huge family move. Now fast forward to the present i was able to save up again to invest in this tv the hisense u8qg and again its a staple in our home where we are constantly watching all the movies on Disney, Netflix. Peacock, and amazon video. When we are not watching movies in the stunning film maker or theater modes we are playing PS5, and 4 players split screen mario cart. The tv has so many viewing options and tweeks that help you really fine tune the picture for any preference. I would highly recommend this tv for gaming families and huge tech enthusiasts. Plus there are plenty of videos and forums online that can instruct you on fixing settings to get the most out of what ever you enjoy using you theater screen for.
