Can't wait for the next two movies to come out, there were times I wish they explored a scene a bit deeper, but over all the story was excellent and the pace was quick. Never felt they lingered too long on a subject.

From start to finish the special effects were great. From the different races to the fight scenes. Its all good. The plot was also good, makes you wonder what will be next. It makes you want to watch the next one.

Great new beginning! I left another review for the second movie that was intended for this one. Very happy to have the opportunity yo continue the journey with PJ. Great story. Movie is well made.

Great to see the story behind the LoTR series and to see the familiar faces back on the screen. Excellent PQ and AQ, as expected. Movie does leave you hanging on a cliff though, since it's #1 of the trilogy.

The Hobbit was so excellent in so many different ways. It really needed to be split into 3 movies to cover everything in the book, but I hate waiting an entire year to be able to see the next installment!

For anyone that's a fan of the LOTR trilogy, this one is a no-brainer. Beautiful cinematography, great special eefects, awesome sound and a great story as well. Definitely recommend this movie to anyone.

Saw this movie in theaters and knew I wanted to own it. If you are a fan of the series you will love this story. It was just as compelling watching it again at home as it was watching it in the theater!

As are all of the Hobbit movies, this is another incredible telling of this epic series. Each one is more compelling than the previous one. Great addition to our collection!

The picture quality on both the 3d and 2d disks is great. The story is fantastic and the characters are well developed. My only complaint is that I don't feel like it ended on a high enough moment, but it is the first of three movies so i guess they had to save the real exciting stuff for the finales.

This is a nice addition to the Hobbitt franchise. I have the entire set which was purchased from Best Buy because of the best value. The shipping was quick too! Overall though, I still feel the Lord of the Rings was much better! Although, this collection is good to have.

if you are a lotr fan , this is a must own, amazing story, great acting, good characters along with top notch picture quality , you cant beat this, even if youre not a fan of lotr, give it a shot

I saw this on opening day at the theaters, and couldn't wait to pick up the blu-ray to watch in my home theater. I can't wait to see the next two movies and get the extended editions on blu-ray!

This movie begins the prequel trilogy of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The story line is OK, but gets a little down-in-the-tooth (I actually feel asleep). However, it is an effective beginning to the Lord of the Rings backstory. The cinematography and multi-channel sound will not disappoint.

Thought this was going to be too much like other movies before it, but this is a visual feast of fantasy and even though the outcome is known.....it keeps you watching all throughout the film.

This movie is the long version of the book. Very detailed. It brings out what the author wanted us to see. There will be two more movies. This is good. The details of the book will come alive!

Not a huge fan of the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings series (my better half is the big fan), but the cinematography of these movies is phenomenal and the 3D makes it even more stunning.

I was very excited to hear that they were going to go back and tell the story of the Hobbit. A little disappointed that this story wasn't told first. Looking forward to the next installment.

I have never seen the other Hobbit movies. My wife is a huge fan so she drug me to the movies to see this when it first came out. I loved watching it again & plan to watch the original ones.

Great movie - may be a little slow if you are not familiar with the story, but just watch it a second time and you will be waiting eagerly for the next installment just like the rest of us.
