I've always been a fan of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The product was in excellent condition, and I've had no problems with the playback. The story is incredible as well as the appendices which show the behind the scenes production.

This is movie was very well done in telling of the early adventures of Bilbo and Gandalf setting off to help the Dwarfs reclaim their home. Peter Jackson did an excellent job with this classic story introduction.

Not much needs to be said here. If you're a Tolkein fan and/or liked the Lord of the Rings series, you'll like this. It has a bit more humor than the LotR trilogy, so some may enjoy it who did not enjoy those. They also mixed in a lot of history from the Silmarillion, which makes it a little darker and slow in some spots, so if you're a fan of the book "the Hobbit" expect those differences.

I loved Peter Jackson's interpretation of The Hobbit. The storyline was very close to that of the book and so many details were perfect. This movie and the entire series of Middle Earth stories as depicted by Peter Jackson have become instant classics.

I enjoyed watching the Blu-ray disc of this movie, though the added footage slowed the pacing and didn't add all that much (especially the bits featuring the Goblin King). I realized afterwards that I should have rented it before seeing the second installment in the theater--I should have waited for the boxed set of the entire trilogy. That's what I would recommend anyone else to do.

We got the 3d version to watch on our 55' LED LG Smart TV that we purchased at best buy last year, The story was better than I expected. It is hard to exceed the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. As usual, the special effects and cinematography were excellend and the story line wasnt that bad either. Good Watch.

The extended editions of the Hobbit trilogy are worth purchasing. The theatrical version of "An Unexpected Journey" is great, but the extended version has several parts that link things together for a more complete story. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

I have enjoyed to the movie multiple times since I have received it. I am a Hobbit fan and Lord of the Rings so naturally I would rank the movie accordingly. The features that come with the disc are nice and add to the appendices of the Lord of the Rings.

We loved the Hobbit and was glad to add it to our Lord of the Rings collection. Didn't realize this is a first of 3 movies that take place before LOTR. My husband thought it was a little drawn out but was necessary to tell story and lead up to the next movies.

This was initially purchased for my wife, but it was easy to join in on the movie with the bumbling, yet honor bound, dwarves. Lots of action and imagination with mythical creatures to keep you riveted. Really enjoyed watching and can't wait for the next one.

HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL. MAJESTICALLY EXECUTED WITH EXCELLENT CINEMATOGRAPHY & COMPUTER MADE SCENES; SO BELIEVABLE; ONE IS FORCE TO READ THE BOOK; ADVISE: WHEN IT'S A GOOD MOVIE: GET THE EXTENDED VERSION, YOU'LL NEVER REGRET IT!

This first installment of the movie is true to the book. Once you finish this first installment, you will want to have the second sitting there waiting for you along with another bag of popcorn. Well worth the money and the time required to watch.

I missed this in the theatre but was eager to see it so bought it as an impulse buy when it came out. Sort of regret it in that I know an extended version will be coming out probably in 3-4 years, so that's the one to buy. Jackson went for some humorous scenes (i.e. the dwarves coming for dinner) that I just really didn't care for. I prefer my Middle Earth dark and with little humor.

I loved the original Lord of the rings movies. So when the hobbit series came out i was very excited. This one is a great adaption from the books and if you havnt read the books you will still understand exactly what is going on and not be missing much

The movie is pretty good, but I still think Lord of the Rings 3 beats it. The special features are really cool. I am not usually one to watch special features on discs, but the stuff covered in this one is unbelievable. I definitely recommend this.

This is enjoyable as a an escape movie if you want some diversion & variety. It is probably a good idea to have some background on the series and particularly the books the movie is based on. 3D effects make a good movie even better, as do the other special effects of the movie. I would recommend it to all but younger children who may be overwhelmed by a few of the scenes.

Peter Jackson did a great job revisiting Middle Earth and I was pleasantly surprised to see some familiar characters as well as the new. Martin Freeman was particularly good as Bilbo - was a perfect choice. The special effects were fantastic, of course!

I read the Hobbit long before the movies were made. The scope and imagery is impressive. Each movie is good, but it takes all three to tell the whole story. This first episode sets the background. By itself, it leaves a lot unanswered.
