Keeping with the success the Peter Jackson did with The Lord of the Rings, this movie is great fun and keeps you on your toes while letting you connect with the characters. And it does a decent job of staying true to the book.

We had to get this on dvd. Saw it in the theater and own the first trilogy. I don't know why we got it on blu-ray, since I don't see the difference between regular dvd or blu-ray. We get to watch the movie, so that's a good thing!

After the Lord of the Rings series, how can you pass on this to complete your set. Although the movie itself is not as good as the Lord of the Rings series, any serious person has to have this to complete the collection.

I bought The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on DVD this past Black Friday. The price was excellent as is the movie. The DVD has a lot to offer, my only regret is sacrificing the quality of a bluray for the price of a DVD.

Being a fan of the Lord of the Ring trilogy, and its Director, I looked forward to the Hobbit since the announcement that it was to be made... There was no let down...it stands with the trilogy, and I look forward to the sequel...

At first, I didn't really care to see this movie because I figured it couldn't possibly be as good as The Lord of the Rings. I couldn't have been anymore wrong. This is yet another magnificent chapter of a terrific saga.

Get the movie, but read the book first.

Unfortunately my only experience with Hobbits has been through Jackson's films. Without the benefit of having read the book I felt a little inundated by information at first. Another drawback of having to rely strictly on what was presented on screen was improper character development in the screenplay. Nonetheless it was an enjoyable experience.

The Hobbit is an amazing movie that many will enjoy. It is in fact, better than the Lord of the Rings. The movie flows really well and not any boring parts. It tells the story really well and follows the book very well. I love it!

I love everything about this movie. It's such a great story and the directing is spot on! The Hobbit was one of my favorite books when I was a kid and I'm very happy with Peter Jackson's visionary transition to the screen.

The extended cut made an already good film into a great one. The additionally scenes were, for the most part, all humorous in nature and made the movie even better. I highly recommend viewing this version of the movie.

The Hobbit, like the Fellowship of the Ring, starts off almost painstakingly slow but introduces you into a world that feels alive. Some moments of awkward comedy aside (the trolls, the Goblin king), I love this movie!

Good if your not a purist of J.R.R. Tolkien works. I have read the Hobbit six times (over the past 30 years), and I was expecting more from the movie. The fault lies within my expectation of the story of "The Hobbit" being portrayed on the big screen. With this book being divided into a trilogy in and of itself, I was expecting greater accuracy at following the original storyline. This book is so well written that the screenplay for this movie should have written itself. I was not expecting the liberties taken to relate "TheHobbit" to "The Lord of the Rings," which I equate to insulting readers who enjoy using thier own imagination when reading this wonderful story. Anyway, since I am not a movie critic, (yet critical), draw your own conclusions. My review is based on my expectations alone. If you're going to do something, do it right, or as close to right as humanly possible. This movie should have been titled "The Hobbit: as Peter Jackson sees it."

For the loyal Tolkien fan, the added scenes are great. Though the director does take some liberties with the plot (some stuff in the movie does not appear anywhere in the original book), the end product justifies the means.

I love The Lord of the rings series and this one is great. This movie is based off the book the hobbit which takes place before The Lord of the rings trilogy. Tells the tale of how bilbo baggins came by the ring of power.

Buy this one if you have a 3D compatible system and want to see it in 3D. Otherwise get the cheaper version. Personally I think 3D is overrated, but it's an enjoyable experience anyway if you don't mind paying more.

Read Hobbit years ago and loved the full story. Now the details come flooding back with this well done movie! Now we know where the Harry Potter movie got its characters from. The 3D puts it over the top. Money well spent.

If you likened The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, then you'll love The Hobbit. I think they filmed every beautiful location they could find in New Zealand. This movie has more a more Epic feel at times but falls a little short on action. Not that that's a bad thing but for me that's the difference between the LOTR movies and The Hobbit so far.

This is definitely a great movie to watch if you have no expectations or are going to compare with the Lord of the Ring series. It's worth watching the sequel as well. It has its moments of slow dialogue, but picks up.
