    Decent Fan

I bought the fan to bring with me on a trip to Europe. I figured it would come in handy in our hotel and cruise ship, as I sleep with a ceiling fan and floor fan at home. I found the highest speed to be a bit underwhelming for what I thought it would output for the fans size. It was very quiet, which I also wasn't a fan of. I like the sound of the fan when sleeping. Unfortunately I didn't get much use out of it, because when I plugged it in in Czech using a Euro adapter, I could smell a burning smell. I proceeded to turn it off, think it was the fan or adapter. When we reached our cruise ship that had the regular North American power plugs, the fan wouldn't come on so something got fried in the hotel room. It's only use was at the airport in USA after a long walk from one terminal to another which was on a hot day and involved being outside for part of the adventure on our flight over. I ended up tossing it in the trash when it wouldn't turn back on. I'll likely get another model for the next fan for future trips.

    Good fan but too small

The fan is pretty good, however, being in the attic with a 8000BTU a/c is not enough. Instead of purchasing another a/c I wanted to use the current a/c and get a fan to move more air. I'll return this one and get the larger fan.

This fan is the best. It blows super cold. I was able to mount the fan on my wall so it didn't take up space any where. And you can tilt it to your perfection.

The circulation on this fan is terrible the only way ur gonna feel something is if it’s pointed right at you. It’s not very quiet either especially when u have it on a night when it’s dead silent in your house. It is pretty powerful though, but it being powerful makes it very loud.

    Dumbed down performance

The predecessor had much higher output, at the cost of more electrons, and more blade noise. The new box trumpeted how it was 20% quieter and more efficient. Easily done. Derate the motor, so that it won't turn as fast or have the same draw. Except when you buy a fan because you're soaked in sweat, a reduction in noise doesn't nearly compensate for the reduction in cooling. Meanwhile, despite disassembly and cleaning (access is reasonable for anyone with a minimal toolkit), it took more and more time to start up, and, not long into its life, would not start. Which was the same result we had with the first. But the first had all that power - 25% more, after you do the inversion (20% reduction reversed requires 25% increase) - to move air. Because it's cheap, it doesn't rate in cubic feet per minute (CFM) - but if you were to compare this with its exact-look predecessor, I'm betting you'd find more than a 25% reduction. Of course, since it doesn't give you the CFM, it also doesn't give you the watts. So, ignorant of either how much it will suck down the batteries we use to make our 120VAC power, or the huff-and-puff-and-blow-your-house-down it will deliver, we took it home, expecting the same thing as we had before, but quieter blades due to some wizardry in design (submarines go to great length to quieten their propellors; why not table fans???). Nope. Sorry. Not as much as on "two" on the old one, for "3" on the new one, and no way to ramp it up. Despite that, as that's all that's available, and CFM info isn't generally available for this sort of thing, we'll replace it with the same thing and continue to sweat, with more of it remaining liquid than we'd like. The good news is that you'll have to work hard to not get change from a sawbuck.
