While it has fewer settings and doesn't have as many features, compared to the 8 we only miss the ability to have an LED indicator always on to display it's current setting. Otherwise it's been heavenly in our bedroom to help keep us cool the past week of 90+ degree weather.

I've only had it for about a month, but I used it every night in my condo and haven't had to turn the a/c on because I was hot. It does a great job. So far no complaints here.

On the highest setting it isn't that loud. It has been a great fan and I would definitely get another one down the road if needed. Easy set up.
