Haven’t seen a great Western movie in a long time like this one.

This movie surpassed expectation. In hindsight, having seen "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs" I realize that more western movies are aiming towards the brutal realities that existed in the time period. This is a great story where people who have experienced a lot of pain must come together for a common good - though it is not so cut and dry if that wasn't already implied. A happier ending than expected, sure, but nonetheless complicated. Would highly recommend and with the western landscapes as the background, 4k is the obvious choice!

The great Wes Studi in his best role since Last of the Mohicans. Typical Hollywood excess is kept to a minimum and one feels that this is a story that could have happened more or less as depicted unlike so much of what the film industry produces.

This movie is pretty hard to get into and focus on. Not the average western movie since this focuses on the wishes of a native american chief to go back home to die peacefully and is escorted back by a Soldier who doesn't like him

It didn’t do well in the theater, but deserved better. A worthwhile story, well acted. It was a little hard to understand the dialogue in a few places. Interesting plot twists. If you like westerns, give it a try.

I’m happy hollywood is again making some westerns. While I enjoy some of the comic based movies, there are too many. This is a good, but not great, wesrtesn.

The opening sequence is terrifying and gives you a feeling of helplessness. This is a great western and definitely worth the buy

A bit artificial in its storytelling but bolstered by strong cast including Christian Bale, Rosamund Like, Ben Foster.

Worth double the price, both male actors were believable and really drew you into the movie. Surprise at the end

Interesting story line and great acting....worth the time it took to surcease it and watch it as well.

Christian Bale does a wonderful job (as always) of making you identify with his character...highly recommend!

A dark western that serves as a meditation on conflict and how much we have in common as humans.

This is a dark depiction of the American frontier. Filled with great characters and plot twists.

Dark, brooding, violent, and a bit lethargic, Hostiles paints a bleak portrait of a racially divided America through the prism of the Old West. Though the highly charged story of a bitter, bigoted army captain ordered to accompany a recently freed Native American war chief back to his Montana homeland takes place in 1892, it’s tough not to draw parallels to the racial turbulence afflicting our contemporary society. Writer-director Scott Cooper’s powerful, yet strangely numbing western adopts a self-important tone as it plods along and promotes its agenda, leaving the joys of the genre behind. Lionsgate’s 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray presentation features a lush, beautifully crisp, yet overly dark video transfer, terrific audio, and a comprehensive behind-the-scenes documentary. Western fans looking for the next Unforgiven will be disappointed, but despite its flaws, Hostiles is still Worth a Look.

This is a good movie that kept me guessing. Solid entertainment for adults.
