I needed a moderately priced laptop to work from home and purchased this one. The light up key board was not a feature I initially wanted but it has turned out to be very useful in low light situations. Does all I need it to do! Don't care for Cortana but it was useful for set up. Also like that the power cord is a sturdy L shape where it plugs in to the laptop so no worries about it wearing/breaking apart like some cords.

Easy to use, fast computer and love the keyboard lightning. Definitely worth buying this laptop.

I have an intel 7 gaming desktop but had been looking for either an intel 5 or Ryzen 5 based laptop as a secondary computer. This one came on sale over the holidays and met all the specs I was looking for and came in about $150 dollars cheaper than similar models not on sale. I prefer the Ryzen graphics over Intel's onboard graphics chip. For my use, the 8GB of memory is just fine. The 256GB solid state drive helps the computer boot up very quickly. I don't put a lot of programs or data on the computer. For that, you would probably need a 1 terabyte drive, or larger. I like the backlit keyboard but it has an auto-off feature which cannot be disabled. When it goes off, any key hit brings the backlighting back on. I dislike ALL touchpads as I accidently activate them when my hands are on the keyboard, so I deactivate it through Windows and use a mouse instead. That is just me, has nothing to do with this unit. The screen is nice, the keyboard has a decent feel. Battery life is average, nothing to write home about. The weight is fine. I don't care for 17" screen form factor for a laptop because, like I said, I use a desktop for my mainline computer, but I can see the screen just fine on this 15.6 inch unit. If you are buying a laptop as your only unit and you are a heavy user, you might want a Ryzen 7 unit with more storage, 16GB memory, and 17 inch monitor, but for my needs, this one is just fine.

For a Midrange gaming laptop it really exceeded my expectations. Prefoms beautifully and quickly. Speakers are outstanding. Along with display quality. After spending a bit over 6 months with this product. I can honestly say it is worth every penny I paid. While not ideal for major gaming experiences. It is excellent for most gaming on the go.

The fans get extremely loud because of the bad thermals, and the screen is pretty bad but everything else seems fine especially the battery life on this!

My old desktop died on me so i bought this laptop to try and get some more use out of it and im really glad i did. I can bring my laptop to my shop and play some games instead of being bored. It is powerful enough to play 7 days and surprised me when i started astroneer. The settings put themselves on high and it ran better than my xbox!

I absolutely love this laptop! It loads my games flawlessly and it’s performance keeps up. Boot up is also pretty fast as well. I also tend to use A LOT of mods and CC and this thing doesn’t even flinch. So happy with my purchase!

I'm not a gamer...yet; this laptop is setup to encourage users to explore that realm, which I think I will. The AMD Ryzen processor is more that quick enough for most tasks, and this computer has graphics capability (NVIDIA GeForce) beyond what similar priced computers offer. The backlit keyboard is another feature not found on comparatively-priced units, and although I hadn't thought it important, I don't think I'd ever want to be without it, given the way I use this computer. And still on the keyboard, the keys seem very responsive with a good feel and there is no adjustment needed going from a "regular" keyboard to this one. I do recommend expanding the RAM; 8GB seemed like it would be plenty, and I haven't had any issues, but it does appear to be stressed at times. I like the larger display, which has very good lighting (I don't know the number) and is clearly hi-def. For almost all uses you might have need for a laptop, this unit will serve your purpose. The Black Friday price made it a great deal; a "basic" gaming laptop has some upgraded features and abilities that usually make them more expensive than other "basic" laptops, so if you just need a solid, good-performing laptop with the ability to do some gaming, I do recommend this HP.

Bought this on Holiday sale for like $450, plus extended warranty making it a $700-ish computer. We play our favorite games on this laptop. Easily Plays World of Warcraft and Fortnite. Could use a bit more storage both hard drive and RAM, but works as it is. Uses the internal SLIM hard drives for upgrades.
