Monitor Extremely Fragile, Read HP Warranty

When functional, I was happy with the monitor. However, a crack formed after a few months, making the monitor unusable. I can't recall anything that might have caused the damage, meaning it either happened during shipping and only recently became a problem, or the monitor is so fragile that it cracked with no obvious cause. HP warranty does not cover any external damage outside of 30 days and other coverage is minimal.

Bought it as an open box item.,.had no idea how delicate the screen itself was.,,broke it the first week :-(.,,keep in mind that open box means that it was bought and returned to the store. The manufacturer's 30 day warranty ran out before I even got it home. Always buy new!

The display broke in 2 weeks. The LCD started bleeding with no physical cracks, and I purchased Geek Squad for 4 years on it, and when I went in person, they refused to return or exchange the product. What’s the reason for paying for the insurance then?

For a few days it worked fine. Then the screen went black and a series of lines appeared. I exchanged for another one. After set-up this had a blank screen, then the lines. I exchanged it for a different product and have had no issues.

Monitors seem to be one of those devices that seem to last a very long time but you never seem to have enough of. College-aged kids, gamers, home office users, all seem to want more monitors as the value of multi-monitor setups become more known or experienced. What you get in the box with this product is, of course, the monitor, a two-piece stand, a power cord and transformer, an HDMI cable of about six feet in length, a quick setup guide and a multi-language warranty booklet. Very well packaged for transport, the outer box as it arrived to me, was very discreet and not attracting undue attention. Inside, the commercial box was as colorful as you’d expect from a major manufacturer, perhaps also a preview of the monitor’s colorful capabilities. The value proposition at the retail price is on par with other brands for the feature set, so watch for sales to make it a “buy now” moment. The good: As monitors go, the appearance of this one is quite attractive in my humble opinion. Very thin on top with three nearly invisible bezel sides when powered off and seemingly impossibly thin bezel sides when on. Anchored by a still narrow silver-colored bottom bezel, the entire monitor is buoyed by vertical adjustability and convenient tilt capability that allows for matching heights of multi-monitor setups and deflecting light reflections from the matte screen finish. This device is an FHD (Full High Definition, 1080P or 1920 x 1080 pixels) monitor employing an IPS (In-Plane Switching) panel which means that the monitor has very good off-axis performance allowing a clear view from the extreme sides, with a horizontal viewing angle of approximately 178 degrees as well as very good uniformity in the vertical axis. Another feature employed in this monitor is a lowered blue light output that is intended to reduce eye strain called Eyesafe. I didn’t see an on/off control for this feature on the menu controls and also didn’t detect any obvious color shift in the factory default settings as delivered. There are, of course, all the usual video adjustments available in the menu, so go ahead and grab your Sencore alignment gear (or just use your eyes) and have at it if you are not happy with the factory setup or default presets. Despite connections including only one VGA and one HDMI, the inclusion of the AMD FreeSync feature on this monitor curiously claims that the feature requires the use of only a DisplayPort connection on the fine print of the colorful box, then goes on to contradict itself by saying that it will also work with an HDMI connection, but only if used with an AMD 15.11 Crimson driver (or newer). The AMD FreeSync feature provides enhanced synchronization between the monitor and graphics card output to help reduce or eliminate stuttering and/or tearing in videos or games by locking the display and graphics card’s frame rates. This monitor has a maximum refresh rate of 75 Hz, which is not necessarily sufficient to be serious-gamer preferred, but the AMD FreeSync is attempting to try to make the best of what is possible with the supported refresh rate available. The not as good: About the only negative I could mention at this point is the backlighting is perceived as slightly uneven from a singular observation point in that when there is a solid light background, there is a small brightness disparity from the center of the image to the sides of the screen mostly due to the angle of the viewer in relation to the screen. This is perhaps the impetus to purchase a curved screen which would alleviate this issue. I doubt it would present enough of a concern to be a deterrent to most users. For those using monitors with wall or alternative stand-mounting requirements, this monitor does not support standard VESA mounting parameters. Conclusion: I am impressed with this monitor for everyday use. Having gotten used to, and been spoiled by an OLED 4K tv, this resolution is less sharp and has much less contrast, but well within the norm of reasonably-priced IPS-type computer monitors, if not slightly above. I would heartily recommend this model if you have no VESA mounting requirements.

The HP monitor has it all. Looks, quality, performance, ease of use. The monitor was beautifully boxed such that the box functions as a protective carrying case with handle. It was extremely easy to put together (no tools required) with a stand that provided height and angle adjustments with a touch. The features that enable the monitor to display were designed to be virtually invisible at the bottom of the monitor frame, yet extremely easy to access with a finger touch. I connected my Apple Macbook Air via HDMI into my USB C/ Thunderbolt adapter and the computer screen was mirrored almost instantly on the sizeable approximately 24” monitor. I checked out various presets for cool vs warm colors, versus a brilliance setting that was superb. The monitor provided a side benefit other than size and sharp crisp display, as it functioned as a 2nd screen rather than a mirrored screen display. Kind of like the sidecar feature that Apple makes available when using an iPad next to an iMac desktop. Apps can be opened and then moved from 1 screen to another. I particularly enjoyed bringing up photos on my Macbook 12 “ display, and sliding only those I wanted to enhance, to the monitor. While leaving the other photos displayed but not moved to the monitor. It was like having 2 computing devices without the same expense. One app could be on the monitor and another app on the Macbook Air. Two different apps full screen and viewable simultaneously with the ability to move and drag and drop. I couldn’t be more pleased with the workings of this monitor. I would recommend every small screen computing device be supplemented by this 24” monitor. Save your eyes, enjoy your time spent with your computing device inexpensively, and accomplish tasks faster than your small screen device facilitates.

This 24” HP Monitor was something that I needed to complete my standing desk since I work from home. My set up is dual monitors on arm style stands, attached to the back of my desk. I wanted to try a quality 24” monitor on one stand to see if I liked the set up, then I would add a second. I was not sure if 24” would be large enough, but after I installed one I knew it was going to work. Mainly, because the arms still make the monitor relatively close so it is not an eye strain. Also, two 24” monitors each with split screens for the various applications I use, allowed me to work on four programs with no eye strain. So this monitor will need a brother here soon (and I think it is on sale right now so bonus!). As for the details related to this HP monitor, there were a few things I really liked about it. First, it is very thin. Coming in at about 8 pounds with the stand (about ½ pound less without the stand) it is very sleek and modern looking. Before mounting it, I played around with the stand a little. I liked the ability to tilt the monitor on the stand enough to get the good visual angle. I am 6” even, and tend to like to sit in my chair fairly low. The picture the monitor has is very sharp and vivid. Since I am only using it for work, I don’t mind the 75 Mhz refresh rate. If it were to be used for gaming, I would want more, but I don’t need if for my set up. This monitor is considered to have an HD display, again ample for what I need it for. I do like the feature they call “Eye Ease” or at least I like the idea of it. I really cannot tell if there is lower blue light emitting from the monitor, but if that is true I appreciate that as I sit in front of the monitor often and for long periods of time. One thing I saw people complaining about is the number of HDMI and VGA ports, as well as lack of a camera. Personally, if you want something with an integrated camera, well get one with a camera! Its not a hit on this one for not having a camera, it’s a hit on the reviewer for using that excuse. And only having one HDMI and one VGA connection is not a big deal for me. I guess people like to daisy chain monitors off each other for something? I run two monitors using a docking station for my laptop, so that is not even an issue. It was an easy plug and play, and a quick adjustment in the settings. I like this monitor a lot, enough that I will be getting a second one. Again, it does what I need and at the price point it is a great value. It does not have all the bells and whistles by any means, and it is fairly basic in fact. But it is a large enough screen and the picture is awesome. I would definitely recommend this monitor to anyone that is in a similar situation to me or for someone that is watching HD level videos. It is more than enough for your day to day work or homework, and light video use. And I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a monitor for that same purpose.

First, let me extend kudos to most manufacturers of monitors as they are making it so simple to deploy these devices. It took me maybe two minutes to connect the stand’s 2 pieces to the monitor. And that was while I was talking to someone on the phone. Very, very easy. A 23.8 inch monitor is a bit of a step back from the 27” unit I had been using. But alas, a failure on the older monitor forced this change. Once the stand was in place, I connected the HDMI cable to the appropriate ports on the desktop and the monitor, then plugged in the power cable in a similar fashion. The HP M24H is very light and easy to tote from one spot to another. It has FHD (1920 x 1080) resolution and as aspect ratio of 16:9. It’s not the brightest I’ve used at 300 nits, although I found the monitor’s anti-glare\low blue light features very easy on the eyes. And lastly, I thought the color accuracy was quite good. I should state that I don’t do gaming at all. I mention this because I thought the refresh rate was perfectly fine for my needs. Someone who does gaming could conceivably have a different experience. Overall, this is a budget priced monitor that gives you a big bang for your bucks. It’s meeting my needs quite well, and it is a welcome edition.
