Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the ENVY Desktop's performance, ease of use, and ample storage, frequently praising its speed and the inclusion of both an SSD and a hard drive. Many appreciate the value for the price and the quiet operation. However, some customers expressed difficulty adapting to Windows 10, and a few found the desktop's size to be somewhat large. The sleek design was also a point of positive feedback from some users.

Just bought it today, but thus far very pleased. Extremely easy set up. Both my monitors worked as they did before. And it is soo quiet, or maybe my other desktop was loud. Love the SSD hard drive, the restarts are very fast. My only complaint is that the "front" usbs are not in the front, but more so on top....but not a big issue. Surprised it has 2 HDMI, but NO VGA or DVI,,Love the wireless keyboard...I use my own wireless (logitech) mouse, but it did come with a wireless mouse. So far very happy

The screen started going black 16 days after purchase so I could not take it back....then there were none in stock, they did not have any choices. I think there are better places to buy computers and plan to find one.

Needed to upgrade PC so the HP I5 with 128 ssd and 12 GB of ram was right in the middle. Price on sale was great. Set up was a snap. After a week its work's fine. Boot up fast 30 sec... With 1 TB HDD drive more then enough space. Just make sure all data goes to HDD drive in setting.

You are probably at best buy googling this computer or you are at home searching for computers on your phone wondering if this would be something you are interested. It is. You maybe like I am and bought the computer and wanted to see all the separate reviews on it to see if you bought a great computer. You did. I have a little history on why I bought this computer so bare with me. I had a HP n6130 from 2008. My ex and I bought it together and its so old I don't even date her anymore and my son is 7. But about a 1 year ago I asked her to give the computer to me for 50 bucks, replaced the graphics card, up graded the ram, upgraded the power supply, upgraded the wireless adapter (probably should have bought a new computer then), and even upgraded from windows vista to windows 7.. But it was still running slow the duo core was 64 bit but ran windows 64 bit slow. So I got a new position at work and decide to go buy a new computer. I had to chose between a HP I5 and a levonos I5. I went with the levonos cause it was cheaper and it was in stock. So I got it home and they apparently have a 12 pin to connect my power supply to instead of a 24. Big problem. I wanted to transfer that power supply and my graphics card over. So I checked amazon and ordered the cord. But the cord I ordered was 14. I then returned it and saw this one. Figuring it was the same one I saw the other day but they had it in stock. I was so wrong, this is a 7 gen I5 that was a 6 gen. It runs super fast. The operating system is on the 120 gig SSD drive. So start up time is like 10 seconds. And my last computer even with the upgrades was at least 2 or 3 minutes it seemed like. So before I started it I took out the 300 watt power supply, put in my 500 watt, took my rx 460 graphics card I got from best buy and put it in the computer, took my netgear wireless N ac 1200 adapter (this came in handy) and of course my razor black widow keyboard along with my Logitech mouse. All which I got from bestbuy. The problems I had was that at first I had to connect straight to the onboard hdmi outputs. Took me a minute to figure what was wrong cause I could see it start but then it would go away after seconds. But I found out it was only through the hdmi on board graphics. Downloaded my software rebooted and it ran perfectly on my graphics card, that's a first for me...Usually I have to do that a few times to get that work. Love this computer. Other problem I had is that the wifi wouldn't work. Fortunately I had an Ethernet cord that 25 foot long and used that. Once I got on the internet downloaded the software for my network usb adapter it worked like a charm. In other words the wireless network on here is terrible. So In all this a fast computer, easy to set up. I never tried the keyboard that came with it, or the mouse. I always recommend getting your own mouse and keyboard. HP is a good brand and it didn't come with a bunch of software that I had to get rid of. Plus I forgot to mention I have a external LG blue rewriter so I don't use the hard drive. I heard on the model before this it was flemsly but oh well I don't use it. Good luck on adventures buying a desktop but I love this one. 0

A very quick computer, but lacking some items.

This computer is very quick and very quiet, good for a home office or for general computing. The one TB HDD is a plus. It has an attractive appearance also. However, for the money ($700) the lack of a built-in speaker(s) is a sizeable disappointment (particularly in view of the fact that there is the appearance of a speaker below the DVD burner, but there isn't one there (it fooled me)). Additionally the location of the USP ports, photo card reader, and microphone plug-in, on the top of the computer and facing to the rear is quite inconvenient. Locating them at the bottom front would have been a better choice. Also the lack of a display port output is a problem some users might have when connecting to their monitor. The computer generally fits my needs, but some users would find it lacking.

    Great desktop

I am no expert or tech person. I did work for a computer corporation (software - knowledge based systems( 89 - 91)) many years ago as an administrative asst.. So far I have had no problems with the HP Envy - Intel Core i5 - 12GB. It starts up really fast. I never hear it. Quietest computer I have used or owned. I was told a quiet desktop/tower is a good thing. I did not know that. I decided to purchase the HP desktop because I was familiar with HP from 1991 -. office purchased one of first officejet printers - probably when they first were in production. For last 4 years I also owned an officejet printer (used). I had few problems with it until it just stopped working and burned out. Last desktop was a Dell Vistro and it worked great also until it fried. It was a lot noisier than the HP but it was only a 4GB. Most of the noise started in the last year.. I was lost when I purchased this HP desktop in 2017. I had help from a computer guy who helped us with computer problems and with purchasing computers in the past. The Best Buy Sales/Tech Consultant was very knowledgeable and helpful when I purchased this desktop. He helped me to make the right decision. I thought it would be an easy decision, but it was not. I was very confused making this purchase. He told me it should last 5-6 years or longer. We don't usually purchase a new computer until our current one burns out. This is the first desktop I have ever purchased on my own - with help from the Best Buy consulant. So far I have been very happy with the Hp Envy desktop. Now I can purchase a 3D screen in the future. They do seem to have a good three dimensional effect for graphics and visual applications. I would guess the 3D effect is really great for gaming. I prefer the flat screen when writing or working with numbers.

Still going strong after all these years. Bought another one from HP that was suppose to be similar at a better price but it turned out to be a complete lemon. It didn't even have an SD drive but some approximation by Intel. I just wish this unit was W11 compatible so I could use it for many more years to come.

Very Fast! Overall A Great Value

Even if you tend to install a lot of software on this machine it's lightning fast. Bootup takes only a fraction of the time versus a PC with traditional mechanical hard drive(s). The SSD (solid state system drive) combined with 12gb DDR4 memory makes a huge difference. The only potential negative is the relatively small capacity of the SSD (128gb). If you use large software programs such as publishing suites, image editing packages, audio/video editing and such, you might consider manually redirecting these installations to the "D" data drive rather than the default "C". In most cases this is easily done by simply changing the installation path drive letter from C to D when you begin an installation. This will help you keep plenty of free space on the system drive while maintaining very acceptable launch times of your larger applications. Just be sure to enable both "C" and "D" for your Windows system restore tool. In any case, my experience with the 750-514 has been excellent so far.

Just got this home and set up. Plugged it in and turned it on. Nice wireless keyboard and mouse. Setup took minutes. This will be primarily for Photoshop work so Adobe CC was installed and again setup was quick and easy. I may add to this later if I am able.

Great Computer for the 3 weeks it worked

The SSD drive is very awesome, allowing me to go from turning it on to full use within seconds. The dual HDMI ports are great for running two monitors without buying a cable splitter. Wifi connection is solid, and MUCH faster than anything I've had previously. HOWEVER, within 3 weeks of purchase I had the infamous Black SCREEN OF DEATH. Upon startup, I log in, then there's nothing but a black screen. I've researched all types of solutions but it has not worked. I attempted to return to Best Buy but since their return policy is 14 days (laughable, who can determine if a computer is suitable for them in 14 days?) they said tough luck, you should've bought a Geek Squad protection plan for $200 from us. I was stuck with a paperweight. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM BEST BUY AGAIN. Costco lets me return electronics in 90 days, no questions asked.

    Major glitch in C drive

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The C drive is solid state and only 120 GB. It is big enough for the Windows operating system, but any large files need to go to the D drive which is 1 TB. I use a paid cloud service for about 600 GB of data. The cloud service cannot store the original data on the computer because its program must be on the same drive as the Windows system (the C drive). That was not a problem on my old computer which had only the C drive. So now I can use the cloud only online. Uploads are very slow that way. You can set the default drive for new apps and data, but many apps will only operate on the C drive.
