Customers are saying

Customers find value in the ENVY Desktop's performance, ease of use, and the speed provided by its SSD. Many appreciate its compact size and quiet operation, along with the included wireless keyboard and mouse. While some noted the lack of built-in speakers and a relatively small power supply, the positive feedback on performance and ease of use outweighs these minor drawbacks. The price point is also frequently cited as a significant advantage.

Love the stylish, sleek look of the tower. In addition, the keyboard and mouse match nicely. Set-up was quick and easy. My wireless HP printer was also easy to connect. Very satisfied with my purchase. Primarily used for web browsing, e-mail, and personal use.

This HP computer was so easy to set-up. It immediately connected to my home WiFi/cable system, and I could access my emails, etc. The download of Office was also easy as I just followed the prompts. I had an older HP printer and wanted to use it. I plugged it in and could immediately print. Scanning had to be set-up but again, when I used the setting available on the computer, that too, connected and worked well (needed to scan tax documents). I was nervous, but should not have been, as all went smoothly, and now check out library DVD’s and watch movies. I love this HP computer.

I've had this computer for almost a year and am very happy with it. I use it for routine personal tasks: email, simple spreadsheets, web surfing. The SSD makes it blazing fast. It starts up in seconds. The bundled keyboard and mouse perform well and add to the overall value.

Solid in theory, but HP needs to fix a flaw

This is a moderately priced, moderately fast box with one really incredibly frustrating problem that cost it at least one star with me and probably should cost it more than one. The specs are about what I was looking for, up-to-date i5 and 512G ssd being key. I really wanted 16G of RAM instead of 12, but in this price range you take what's on offer and 12 is okay. Really strong points besides price/value are that it has a lot of USB ports, it outputs HDMI and VGA video, it has both bluetooth and wifi built-in, and it includes a DVD drive. There's no speaker, but I don't think anybody relies on a desktop's built-in speaker when there's bluetooth or line-out. Where HP saves more money, I think, is a limited number of expansion slots and a small power supply, and they obviously take in some from the modicum of bloatware they include (McAfee, Dropbox, media stuff, but you can ignore it). In the abstract it's plenty fast for internet surfing and using legacy programs I depend on-- Windows does a good job here. I wouldn't use it for gaming or expect to drop a heavy-duty graphics card in it because the power supply isn't up to it. But I'm not looking for that so I don't mind. Here's what I do mind: the mouse cursor freezes up and goes all jerky and unresponsive randomly and unpredictably, and at times (like right now) the screen doesn't respond like it should to the keyboard. You can't predict when this will happen or what sets it off. Sometimes it corrects itself eventually, after I have a chance to stomp off and deal with the urge to throw things. And call down curses on HP, because an HP laptop I recently bought does exactly the same thing while an older Lenovo with similar specs has never, ever done anything like this. In fact, nothing else I've had or used since I started with PCs more than 30 years ago has ever done this. Only HP products. Both of them, two-for-two. It can be partly cured by moving the wireless keyboard dongle to a different USB port. Commenters think it's most likely an interaction problem between the mouse/keyboard drivers and some other system drivers, maybe Realtek ones. But you know what, I'm not a systems engineer and I shouldn't have to be one. HP picks what drivers it uses as well as the hardware they drive, so it isn't like this is an act of the gods. And HP has to know about this particular foible because all you have to do is google for it and it's all over the discussion boards. People have run into this since before there was a Windows 10. So this really is something HP should invest a week of engineering time to track down and solve. Why? Because of what I'm writing here-- who am I or any other buyer going to blame for it? And tell people exactly who we blame? It's a blot on HP's name and a drag on its reputation. Otherwise, this is a solid mid-range desktop that has a lot of versatility built into it. If it responded predictably to the mouse and keyboard it would be fine for home/small business-type users, or potentially for a Zoom setup if you get the camera and mic. As things are now, though, I wouldn't be recommending it for anything like Zoom or Skype where you have to respond in real time. And in all honesty, if I had known this was going to be a thing with HP I probably would have steered away from the brand. If you do decide to go for this one, be prepared to encounter and try to solve the jerky cursor and lagging/non-responsive keyboard. If you can solve them, you'll have a decent mid-range desktop. If not, well, frustration will be your occasional companion.

I bought this to do work from home so I wasn't looking for a very powerful machine. However, I have discovered the Envy is a much better computer than I thought. And the price is great. The I5 12 GB is very fast, no hesitation when doing anything I want to do. Very quiet, I don't even know it's on. Small enough to fit perfectly under your desk or inside a cabinet. Very easy to set up. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a work at home work horse. I love my new computer!

Love this desktop. It boots up in probably ten seconds, thanks to the SSD drive. I will never deal with the old hard drives ever again. Perfect for my business applications. Quick connection via Ethernet to the web. It has worked flawlessly, and I was never a fan of Windows 10, but this may have changed me a bit. This also runs very, very quiet and cool. The only thing I am trying to correct is a WHEA Error17 event that is continuous, but I will get to the root of it. This seems to be a problem that HP is aware of. It has to do with the PCIe slot. It hasn’t affected my work at all and the computer runs great. Maybe I just shouldn’t check the Event Viewer. That’s what happens when you know a little too much. I would repurchase this in a heartbeat if I had to buy another.

At 68 1/2, I was worried I would have trouble transferring all my stuff to this new Envy. Boy was I wrong. Windows 10 made it happen. The Envy is fast (very fast compared to my 8 year old HP Pavilion which this replaced) thanks to the SSD, quiet, consumes less power than the Pavilion and is a pleasure to use. HP has always lasted a long time and that's why I keep coming back to them. Tip - Windows 10 and MS 365 are quite a bit different than the 8.1 I was used to. But if you fiddle with it and after enough "dagnabits" it can actually look like what you had only better!

Great machine. Good price. If you're looking for a good general purpose computer, you can't go wrong. Plenty of RAM, plenty of storage and it's an SSD so it's plenty fast. I've bought a few of these for clients and they are great machines.

Great computer! Fast and reliable! This is my third one I have purchased for my office. They have all been great. The unit is compact and looks good on my desk. They run fast. Storage and Ram are plenty for what we do. I highly recommend this computer to anyone looking for a good strong basic computer.

I decided to go back to using a desktop, and replace my 8 year old 15" HP laptop. I purchased this Envy 3 days ago and could not be happier. Everything from the FAST response times, to near automatic bluetooth speaker and mouse set up was mind-boggling. The tower, although not a "mini" one, is not huge and overwhelming and having both front and back usb access is super helpful. I also purchased the Samsung 28" 4k UHD monitor and I'm back to loving home computer use again! This monitor emits () noise. Thanks Marty and Jimmy at the West Omaha Best Buy!!

Excellent HP quality. Solid state memory much quieter than older hard drives. Wireless mouse and keyboard is nice. The 12GB of memory helps to speed up access and applications. Seems much faster than my old 4GB with Windows 10. Never hear the fans come on from overheating during heavy use.

Very nice PC. My wife uses it for managing inventory and sales in her Antique business. It is very fast and reliable - MS Access preforms very well on it. Her older PC - also an HP - was constantly hanging up and requiring reboots to get it going again. I think it might have been a buggie hard drive that we had replaced a couple of years ago. This PC didn't cost much more than having the hard drive replaced at the shop and it is much faster than the old setup. The SSD drive screams. Very happy with the purchase.

Absolutely love cordless keyboard and mouse! Set up was easy and size fits better in my office. The speed and the response time with mouse and keyboard are spot on. Do not miss the 2 wires/cords for plugging in. I should have purchased a cordless monitor and that will be my next purchase from Best Buy!

Received this to replace my older HP Pavilion all in one. The HP Envy TE01-1114 is the perfect size and the speed is fast. Set up was fast and was up and running faster then I thought. Wish they included a book, but a site helps. Still learning all it features, but really love this desktop.

Very satisfied with this desktop tower. Good value and very easy to set up. Still learning Windows 10 and the differences from Windows 7. I notice a little trouble when opening the dvd drive but probably just not used to one that is vertical instead of horizontal. So far so good. Happy with purchase.
