I followed the instructions which stated that with this plan I would receive my in "automatically" when it was low. I signed up for the lowest costing plan to test it out. Well now we ran out of ink and when I logged in to "hpinstantink.com" it tells me I cannot use this service for my 5000 SERIES PRINTER!!!!! Now I have to go to Best Buy in person to make sure I don't get charged monthly for ink which I am not receiving....UGGGGH REALLY BAD!!!!!!!

They let you "pause" service for a month if you can't pay and then charge you for it anyway. Since service is "paused" despite still being paid for, you will lose all your rollover pages. Customer service is the WORST I have ever had to deal with- and I've dealt with a stolen credit card purchases MUCH more easily.

U have to sign up in the middles of setting up your printer so it interrupts that process. Then after I spent all that time signing up my printer displayed a message the next day that I was no longer eligible for the program and would not be receiving my free ink. Disappointing to say the least as the free ink for 5 months was a major selling point to buy the printer. Not happy with the product and wont be recommending . I will also be returning my new printer because of it.

Not Compatible with My Printer

I was using this service for about a year. I received a cartridge months before I need it. The problem was, that for some reason the printer damaged the cartridge and I requested a replacement. Unfortunately, they do not hesitate to give me a negative answer. So I had to buy a new pair of cartridge myself, about 60 dollars. My solution was to cancel the service, get the 60 dollars plus others 60 dollars and I got an Ecotank printer.

I called the support line and couldn’t sign up on line, was given a case number, told they would try to resolve it. All I got was an email suggesting I uninstall my HPSmart app, then reinstall. That didn’t help. It’s looks like great plan—I’ll never know since I can’t sign up!!

I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had difficulty with your printer after canceling your Instant Ink subscription. The frustration in your review is clear – and understandable – so I’ll offer some information that I hope will help.
Once you cancel an Instant Ink subscription, you can continue to use HP ink in your printer. However, Instant Ink cartridges are coded to track your ink usage, and the ones that are in your printer no longer function after the subscription is canceled. New cartridges, however, should work fine.
If you have further questions, or if you’ve installed new ink cartridges but they don’t work, I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can guide you through the proper troubleshooting. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:
- Model number
- Serial number
- Your location
- Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)
