New Envy Printer + This = solution for me

This is an interesting system. If I print 100 sheets of paper a month, I make out well. If it goes over, I get charged based on how many pages I print. I don't like the overage idea. Overall though, overestimate how much you will print, and the instant ink is more than worth it. This 4.99 plan is much better than the 2.99 plan for most people.

Great if you never plan to cancel or change printe

Very convenient until my printer died. I got charged for time the printer was in a landfill. I took a HP printer from another part of the house and attached it to my computer. When the subscription finally ran out they turned off my ability to print using a printer and cartridges that were never part of the service. The customer service was awful. I will never use this again.

    Deliberately marks your printer offline.

My ink has been running low for a few months but I didn't think much of it because their service monitors your ink levels and determines when you need new cartridges. That is until two of my colors completely ran out and when I logged into my account to see why I had not received any new cartridges it said my printer was offline. I tried to reconnect my printer but had no success despite it being up to date with its existing software and the fact that it's running on the same wifi as my computer and all other devices. What really upsets me is that they've been charging me monthly this whole time and failed to send me any e-mails notifying me that my printer was considered "offline". It seems like a deliberate way of overcharging people. This service was definitely not worth it, seeing as how I've had it for almost 2 years and was only sent ink twice because they set my pinter to offline. I would have saved money by just buying the ink I needed and still had it delivered through Amazon or done curbside pick up literally from anywhere. They weren't even willing to offer me a refund for the month I cancelled. It wasn't even the middle of the month, I had cancelled on the day they charged me but they still weren't willing to refund me that month.

Bogus - read the fine print details!

Bogus if you don't use all the subscription service sends you. HP would not buy back unused and unopened cartridge packets and if you cancelled the subscription, the cartridges you had purchased were locked out of the computer and could not be used even though you paid for them. Cheaper to go through third parties!

    Not worth the money! BEWARE!!!!

If I could leave 0 stars I would. First off I started with a free trial, I printed several pages and enjoyed the service. Then the billing began and all of a sudden while printing in my plan limits, I was being charged for overages! I contacted customer service, and escalated it to upper management. My response was the server lagged or there was an issue with my printer is why for two months in a row I was charged for back overages. They refunded the plan cost for the last month but kept the overage money. I was being billed for pages printed months ago for two consecutive months and being told it was my fault. After circular conversation I said just refund what you will and I will leave reviews. I do NOT recommend this for anyone. Just go buy the ink yourself and save the hassel in the long run. If you have this wait for the charges they will come.

    Absolutely ridiculous and wasteful scam

Would give it negative stars if I could. I got one shipment of ink in the whole year I was signed up for Instant Ink. Only used one cartridge from the box. Apparently, I don't print enough pages to warrant any more shipments. So I paid every month for basically nothing. Then when I cancelled my account, my printer would not let me use the rest of the cartridges in the box. They're all still perfectly full! I had to go buy more cartridges from a store. I tried and tried to talk to a customer support person about it, but never got to talk to anyone. At the very least, I think I'm entitled to a refund for these cartridges that I can no longer use. If you print a lot of pages, maybe Instant Ink will work for you, but my experience has been horrific.

I'll never buy another HP printer.

Instant ink worked for a couple of cycles, but then things got bad fast. The last shipment did not include the black ink I needed, so I couldn't print. So much for leaving the printer connected to them for monitoring. Then it wasn't easy finding the telephone number to speak with a real person to get the order fixed. And his excuse was that they had a problem at their warehouse. They said they'd ship the cartridge out right away. After going for five days without being able to use my printer, I finally had to buy a cartridge. So I decided to cancel the subscription. They're answer to my cancellation - the cartridges already in the printer will stop working. So they're actually holding my printer as hostage against cancellation. OK HP, that will be the last HP printer I ever buy.

This plan is very convenient and simple to set up and use. If you find yourself running out of ink without a replacement handy this plan might be the answer.

Even many people states it is a good choice for saving money, do not sell your freedom for money, it does not ward it. I just decided to stop after a long time using it, because I moved and I was not much using the printer, what happened?, they kept my cartridges on hold, not letting me use it, I explained they pretty much never sent much like for becoming owners of my printer service, I decided to stop using it, they said it was clear in amall letter in the contract that no body ever read, if you cancel the contract they have the right to become owners from your cartrige not letting you use it and having to go to buy a new set. Why they never said a word on their so great marketing? as soon as you decide to use them, you have no longer decition on your device. For me, better to go and refill yourself on those many places around, but never do the deal with them! never!.

Horribly wasteful program, NO PAPER INCLUDED

    Posted .

Horrible. Would not recommend HP Instant Ink to my worst enemy. They send you ink when you don't need it, and then you accumulate a bunch of HP Instant Ink cartridges which CAN NOT be used if you cancel your membership, they become immediately useless. You pay for a plan based on the number of pages, but HP Instant Ink doesn't send you paper, you STILL have to buy it yourself, on top of what you pay for the account pages. Save money, just buy your own ink and use it when you need it. I finally canceled my account after trying relentlessly this summer to print enough to use up my Instant Ink cartridges, and am still left with 4 extra cartridges that are now being thrown away. Such a wasteful program. They offer to send you a recycling package where you can send them back to HP (STILL FULL OF INK) to be disposed of, as if that makes up for throwing away multiple full cartridges of ink.

This is worth it especially if you print a lot but they have also other options for those who don’t print much.

If you vary in your printing needs per month, expect extra charges. Also, you do not always get he ink on time, and when you cancel, you are not able to use the ink you purchased with your subscription .

    NO’ to Instant Ink

HP remotely “overtakes” your printer if you use regular, genuine store-bought HP INK & you can’t print with other than HP Ink- a real concern with supply chain issues. Leave that gift card for ink alone!

I think this is a great program. It was simple to sign up for and I can monitor and control my usage online. Ink is delivered before you run out so you're never out of ink.

Please DO NOT join this program. They will completely shut down your printer and keep it from operating. Any ink received from them can only be used if you are paying there monthly subscription.

This was good while I was in school. However they sent me extra ink cartridges that I cannot use unless I am paying for the monthly service. I stopped using my printer for about 3 months and they kept sending me ink even though I had plenty left. Money went to waste in the end.

CARTRIDGES BECOME INCOMPATIBLE WHEN YOU CANCEL!!!!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

DO NOT GET INSTANT INK! Its not worth it. first they only have plans that does 50, or 100 then jumps to 300. moderate people print around 100 not more than 200 but if you are the in between like myself you're screwed. then they raised the prices. its not worth it. so i cancelled my services. what they dont tell you is that the cartridges they send are instant ink cartridges. so when you dont pay the bill or cancel the services the cartridges become incompatible with your printer. have you thinking something is wrong with your printer. I almost went out and bought a new printer cause the cartridges were brand new. nope! no customer service. cant call and speak to anyone. have to go thru the automated then you may or may not get a call back. USELESS!!!!!!
