Laptop is very powerful, and thermals even under 100% load is great (85/87 c). The laptop frame is solid and does not bend easily. Fans are on the quiter side for laptops but you will still notice them. Only issues with the laptop is the hp/omen software, on idle by default the cpu will draw ~30 to ~40 watts, but performance was not really affected (difference of less than 5-8 fps on games). I can get roughly 2 hours of use out of the box, normal for a gaming laptop.
Before you buy check if the laptop contains liquid metal paste or cryonic compound, those two are are conductive and can damage the laptop if you try to replace it. If you dont plan on changing either one of those yourself it will not be an issue.
Solid buy if on sale, but consider getting rid of the hp bloatware.

I was recommended this laptop by a BestBuy employee. I do a lot of video editing and gaming and this laptop is so much faster than my old one. It's not too heavy and the graphics are beautiful. There are also side vents which stops the laptop from getting too hot.

I purchased the HP Omen 16 (2025) with 32GB RAM, RTX 5060, 1TB SSD, and Ryzen 9 HX, and it has exceeded my expectations. Performance is incredibly smooth for both gaming and 3D modeling. The RTX 5060 handles modern games on high settings with great frame rates, and the Ryzen 9 with 32GB RAM makes multitasking effortless.
The 1TB SSD ensures fast boot times and plenty of storage. Cooling is solid, and the build quality feels premium. Overall, an excellent balance of power and value.
Highly recommend!

The HP Omen is an amazing machine. The speed, performance, and display are all top-notch. There is only one downside, and it could be a deal breaker for mobile users. The battery life isn't great. On the Eco setting, I can get about 5 to 6 hours of use just doing regular browsing or working in Word or Excel. But if you try to play a game on the battery, you are lucky if you can get a couple of hours before it's at 20%.
The battery life is not something that really concerns me, because I intend to dock it and use it as my primary desktop. The fact that I can undock it and use it as a laptop is an added benefit for me. The laptop does get hot when it's running at max output, so make sure you have it on a surface where it can get good air intake. Some reviews have said the fan is loud, but I don't notice it. The Omen has been able to run every game I have thrown at it without any issues. If you can catch it on sale, like I did, it's totally worth it.

Love this laptop so far! Runs any game I've thrown at it at high settings and also looks beautiful hooked up to my 75" ?ini led tv with gaming inputs. My only complaint would be the battery life, which is terrible. But I didn't expect much, given the high end specs of this and it's also known that to achieve the high level of performance this is capable of, it needs to be plugged in. Not a deal breaker because I didn't buy this for portability outside of the home. Fans can be a bit noisy (just air noise) at times, but again not a big deal. I think the 17" size is perfect for any situation and if you want bigger for gaming it's simple to add an external monitor. I think anyone just getting into gaming and even a seasoned gamer would be happy with this as a whole. I purchased an "open box in excellent condition" for a significant discount and it looks and works like new. Also while the display looks great and works fine, if I was ordering one new, I might consider the upgrade to a 1440p or oled display. But at this price point, you're getting a lot of bang for your buck and I have no complaints.

This was such a good purchase. The laptop is fast, the graphics are great, and the laptops features are really geared towards gaming but also professional use if your in the tech or digital space.
The battery does not last but with a laptop that is as powerful as this one... I would not expect it to keep up without it adding some serious heft to it which then it would lose laptop functionality.
Would 100% purchase again!!!

Got it on sale for around 1300. Much worth it. Runs Tarkov, Battlefield 6, OSRS, anything i've thrown at it. Gaming on battery is trash it lasts 30 min pretty much has to stay plugged in. Low graphics settings for high frames (120-130+), at max settings it gets between 40-60fps. Some design software doesn't play nice with nvidia cards but sest ah la vee

I bought the HP Omen 16 thinking I was getting a gaming laptop. Turns out I accidentally purchased a performance monster disguised as a laptop.
The Ryzen 9 + RTX 5060 combo is no joke. Games load fast, run smooth, and look amazing on the 2K 144Hz display. Everything feels ridiculously responsive — from AAA titles to having 27 Chrome tabs open because I “might need them later.”
The 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD mean I don’t even think about storage or multitasking anymore. It just handles it. No drama.
Now let’s be honest — when you push it hard, the fans wake up and choose violence. It gets warm and you’ll definitely hear it. But that’s the sound of power doing its thing. I call it “jet mode.”
Battery life? It’s a gaming laptop. You don’t buy this to write poetry in a park all day unplugged. Plug it in and let it eat.
Build quality feels solid, the screen is crisp and smooth, and overall it feels premium without costing kidney-level money.
Bottom line:
If you want serious performance in a clean-looking machine and don’t mind a little fan noise when you’re pushing it, this thing absolutely delivers.
Zero regrets. My games are happy. I am happy.

This is nice, I got it at the lowest price of ~$900 so I take it immediately. The specs are good for the price, I can play smoothly for genshin impact and other AAA games. The only drawbacks are battery and noise, so if you are not affected by these two, you should get it (wait until discount, usually the best price is around ~$1200)

Plenty of power and runs all the games i like to play. The screen could be much better. Theres bleeding on the corners. Its very loud and runs kinda hot. Overall not too bad if you get a good price.

Fantastic machine. Great frame rate, great look! Has all the bells and whistles. Purchased for gaming and as a replacement for an older laptop, and it is amazing! It is a bit heavy because of all that it can do, and the battery life while playing bigger games is just ok. Great for plugged-in gameplay!

I've had this laptop for over a month now and it runs smoothly when playing games and browsing the web. I play games on high graphics settings and do not experience lag or frame drops. The screen and keyboard are the right size for me.
A few issues I have are that the fans can get pretty loud when I do play games, especially The Sims 2 (with mods), The Sims 4 and Baldur's Gate III. Another issue I've been running into is that it doesn't connect to wifi right away at times and I have to manually click connect. This doesn't happen all the time but it does on occasion.
It is also pretty heavy and the charger is huge so portability is not that easy.
Overall, I am satisfied and those few gripes are pretty minor for what I intend to use this laptop for.

Good product. I run AutoCad LT - this laptop seems to run this with no issues. It is a bit on the heavy side, but not overly weighty. When I use it w/o being plugged in, the battery level appears to drop quickly.

I’m very satisfied with this HP Omen 16. The AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX CPU and NVIDIA RTX 5060 GPU deliver strong performance — games run smoothly at 1080p and 1440p, and even heavy tasks like video editing or multitasking feel effortless.
The 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD give plenty of memory and storage speed, so I don’t worry about lag or long load times.
The 16″ 2K 144 Hz screen looks sharp and fluid, which makes gaming and work both pleasant.
Build and cooling are solid — the laptop stays stable during long gaming or editing sessions.
Overall this feels like a powerful, well-rounded laptop for games, work, and creative tasks — a great choice if you want next-gen performance without going overboard on budget.

Solid all-around performance: With its Ryzen 9 + RTX 5060 + 32 GB RAM + 1 TB SSD, Omen 16 is very capable for compile-heavy development, ML experiments (small models), multitasking, and resource-heavy workloads.

I had an HP OMEN from 2016 that I used heavily while being in the military, deployed 2 times, and gamed hard on it for almost 10 years. It was great for what I needed. It finally started to show its age and I decided to buy another OMEN. Thankfully, HP came out with this new OMEN that's far beyond what I had, and it's fantastic. For the price, I feel that it beats other laptops in the mid-tier space. I've always wanted more than low-tier but could never afford top-tier stuff, so if you want something that works well for basically any game, streaming, social media, school work, and all-around machine that can do it all, this is it. You can put another NVMe SSD for more storage, and RAM is upgradable but 32 GB is enough. And connecting to an external monitor is super easy if you go that route. All in all, its a great Laptop that should last close to 10 yrs or more.

At the time of writing this review I have had this laptop for a lil over a month and I have been greatly impressed. I upgraded from a dell g7 I had for 7 years and wanted another gaming laptop, but one that had a design that didnt scream “gamer” and had the specs for some heavy gaming on the side for 1200. After searching for a bit, I discovered this laptop that fit everything I was looking for. Wasnt as expensive as the zephyrus g14 and 16 and appeared sleeker than the tuff a16 and legion 5. The specs of 1150 is definitely a steal. So far I had no issues with the laptop regarding performance as cpu and gpu temps have remained below 80C while gaming. Regarding productivity, the laptop has also done good in this area (granted i did wish the cpu wasnt power hungry, but its based off an older amd generation). That said, besides the battery and wifi card placement, I have no issues with the laptop especially for its build quality (being apart of Hp and their known hinge and hallmark problems). Personally id recommend it if ur looking for a laptop at the 1200 mark as other laptops around that range would cut corners either by the cpu, storage or ram and would cost 100-200 more for the same specs.

I bought this laptop on sale for $1279, you cant find these specs for less than $1300 currently. The laptop isn’t perfect but, in my experience thus far, its a great laptop. It crushes any game I have thrown at it on high/ultra depending on the title. Like someone else mentioned, the screen does have some sort of weird aspect ratio which I eventually got used to. It is loud when gaming but its trying to keep everything cool in a small space… noise levels are within my expectations; cant really hear it with my headset on. If you can get it at or under $1300, its a good deal. At almost $1600, I would rather spend the extra money for a lenovo.
