Tons of room for improvement....
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not as good as I had hoped.... the graphics card was not as good as my old 30 series, and it throttled a lot quicker. It wasn't as premium as it was made out to be...

OMEN GAMING DESKTOP
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly the computer is amazing but the packaging was off and I reached out to no response. My new omen gaming desktop came with no keyboard nor a mouse when opened the box and after getting home. It was seen that I purchased an open desktop.

Meh
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer is great, but struggles running COD. I see other people have been able to play COD without issue so maybe I just need to toggle my settings lower, but for $1,000… I expect a pretty plug and play system and this unfortunately missed that mark as a console (mostly) gamer.

Perfect PC to get into PC Gaming
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The quick summary for this is that its a great way to get into PC gaming with good specs for those that just want to hook up and play. But whats even better is that it has room to grow for those that want to upgrade and get even better performance. If your like me when it comes to gaming I just want to set things up and play. The usual upgrade for my consoles might be a larger SSD but thats it. So when it comes to PC gaming I really appreciate a PC that is ready to go and will perform well out of the box. But as you go you can upgrade and make it closer to a high tier rig. Set up was simple. I use my Sony OLED TV as my monitor and it looks and performs amazing. Boot ups are lightning fast with the 1TB SSD. The design is awesome with RGB lights that can be tweaked with the Omen program. And although I can hear the fans they are not at all too loud. Id rather hear them and know they are cooling then run high temps. Performance is excellent. I was pleasantly surprised at how well everything worked. I was expecting some sort of lag or other issue when running at higher settings. But everything was smooth. So I see no need to upgrade anything yet. It has all the ports you would need and then some. Display, HDMI, USB C (total of 10 USB). So you can connect accessories to your hearts consent. It also comes with a fairly basic keyboard and mouse that will do the job. However I prefer a good old XBOX controller for gaming. And of course this works beautifully as a regular desktop PC as well. So running programs, browsing, watching videos, etc. all work perfectly. I highly recommend this to anyone that wants to get into PC gaming and just wants to play. But also for those that love to upgrade this has that option as well.

Didnt work
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Returned this desktop on the same day I picked it up. I got it home and couldnt get it to display on several monitors. Tried different cords and ports. Nothing. Sat with HP helpdesk for a hour and they couldnt figure it out either. Not sure if this was a best buy (selling me a used broken PC) issue or a HP product flaw.

Enter PC gaming bringing an OMEN toward opponents
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This HP OMEN gaming desktop is an acceptable option as a pre-built gaming desktop at a higher-end entry level gaming PC. There is such an array of gaming desktop equipment on the market, where there are GPUs costing around the total price of this build, to where one much approach a pre-built desktop within its weight class. Given price point along with hardware, this fits well within stated category. Out of the box, the HP OMEN - 35L is sleek. When searching for a desktop, there are often two main options of black or white. This being within the white case category has a bit of expectation to uphold as these are expected to be bright, sleek and clean appearing. This case achieved the goal having 2 Front RGB fans, 1 back RGB fan, top with a grate and with window on right/starboard side to allow for RGB color to not only be displayed on the front but also from the side and top, which is appreciated in a gaming device by myself. With the white case and OMEN labeled a very sleek and clean look is produced and when sitting off looks non-obnoxious. The desktop comes with a white keyboard and mouse that allows for basic functionality (I would not use them long term) while keeping color scheme theme, although personalized peripherals are a well welcomed addition to any device. The size is pretty standard for a desktop (a little smaller even than my previous). There are 8 total USB 2.0 Type-A and 2 total USB Type-C ports. This is a point to note in that USB 2.0 Type-A is predominant, considering more and more peripherals are transitioning to USB-C connection types. Otherwise, there are 3 DisplayPorts and 1 HDMI port, all feeding from the GPU. This works well, but does not allow for bypassing of the GPU, which gives me slight nervousness as I have had issues with NVIDIA software updates needing to be restored and utilized a bypass of this to achieve the goal. Not necessarily an issue, but just something to be aware of. There is also a headphone jack, depending on how you wish to have sound through the device. The hardware of this desktop is an AMD Ryzen 5 8500G processor paired with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 along with 16 GB DDR5 RAM. There is a 1TB SSD. When it comes to hard drives, I expect to see an SSD. The SSD facilitates a quick boot-up into Windows 11, an almost seamless transition from power button on to use. The AMD Ryzen 8500G process is a solid CPU. I have tended to prefer Ryzen processors and when it comes to this desktop, the CPU is not the limiting factor. The GPU is a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060. This provides a strong GPU with the ability to have multiple displays, but does become the limiting factor with gaming on the desktop. The flip side to any limitations is the cost and level of gaming desktop that this device is. This desktop is not pushing the more expensive end of gaming desktops and is not focused toward that consumer type, which is the key to keep in mind as mentioned earlier. These are also things which can be upgraded if desired in the future with investment. I have had absolutely no issues using this computer for work. I do use a Citrix portal along with having multiple windows open and the device seamlessly transitions between work without hiccups or limitation. Have also gone through various larger files without significant lag or burden on the device. For gaming, I am able to have tandem internet and framed gaming going without significant hesitancy or lag if go into the webpage. I would describe the quality of gaming as solid for the average consumer who wishes to explore the world of PC gaming. My two main games that I consistently enjoy/play across devices are FFXIV and GTA5, along with BG3 lately. All three of these games were able to play fabulously as expected based on hardware at 1440P resolution with strong framerates that created a smooth and seamless gameplay environment. Overall well appreciated, but the GPU does seem to be the portion straining some with increased graphic option demand. I do not have the monitor to support 4K testing, but do expect there would be some limitations with that upscaling creating an acceptable framerate. Software to note is the OMEN Gaming Hub, which allows for control of the RGB settings. This is easily accessible and usable but is a control hub software that is in the background. I have found every main company producing a laptop or desktop these days has their various version of this. Luckily for me, the headphone and monitor I have is also happened to be OMEN (have had for over a year) so now at least everything uses the same interface. Otherwise there are various other pre-installed software one may wish to uninstall, as I personally like to keep my devices as clean as possible when comes to unnecessary programs. Overall this is a sleek, well displayed device with RGB fans for color personalization in a pre-build device. Providing a quality of performance I believe is well within the appropriate consumer range as marketed. The hardware provides a quick startup with adequate storage for a few larger games with smooth performance. For being ready to go out of the box, I am overall satisfied with this OMEN.

Waste of money
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the worse money I have ever spent on a piece of technology. It performs poorly in general compared to expectations, but the sleep glitch makes it unusable. Every time I don’t use it for a few hours, I have to unplug it and restart it to get it to turn on. Save your money, do not buy this computer.

Excellent entry level gaming machine
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To say I have a lot of experience with gaming PCs would be like saying Elon musk is kinda rich. I've been building and using gaming PCs for over 30 years. Packaging To start the packaging is straightforward, your average brown box with omen badging on it. Includes the machine, of course, mouse and keyboard. Nothing really to write home about here but it's good enough to get you started. Form factor Before I get into the performance, let's talk about this. I've purchased and built gaming machines for most of my life and the issue that a purchased machine almost always runs into is the fact that these manufacturers use proprietary connections. In this one it's not the case. They've built this in such a way that if you want to upgrade it you can. Now that said, the 500watt power supply is a little too anemic for a stronger graphics card, but at least you can upgrade it. Specs As mentioned it's an entry to mid level gaming machine. The Ryzen 8500G and RTX 4060 are borderline mid level parts but you can get pretty far with that these days. Expect to have good performance if not great, in all modern titles. It's a good machine for the money if you aren't expecting miracles. Remember, this entire machine costs less than a high end gaming graphics card does alone. Fortnite, COD, Apex Legends all run superbly well and don't need more power than this to make them not only playable but beautiful and enjoyable. Overall As mentioned this is an excellent upgradeable every5 to mid level machine. With the quality and capability to improve it when you have the budget, there's a lot of good here.

EExcellent Gaming Rig
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one impressive gaming machine! All the more impressive considering it is from HP, which if I'm being honest is not what comes to mind when I think bout a good gaming computer. Considering it has a AMD Ryzen CPU at the heart of it along with a nVidia graphics card with some speedy DDR5 memory I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. Taking this computer out of the box I was struck by the build quality. It's solidly built and it is obvious that a lot of thought went in to what the components going init would be. The clear window that makes up one side of the case is very nice in that it show you the inside and all the internal components. The LED lights provide a bit drama. The built in cooling does an excellent job of keeping the computer cooled down when gaming or running anything else you throw at it. I've yet to experience any missed frame rates or kipping when gaming with most if not all my graphics settings et to high. Impressive. This is more than just an excellent gaming machine but it also excels at more common computer tasks. Word and Excel are snappy in their responses. About the only complaint I have is with the included keyboard and mouse. Not quiet up to gaming standards but that is an easy enough fix by using a setup I already had. Overall there is not to not be happy with.

Great Option for Most PC Gamers
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was first introduced to an HP Omen gaming desktop several years ago and although I would never say it was the best gaming option I had used it was sufficient. So I was very curious about trying the HP Omen 35L Gaming Desktop to see how it compared to not only the first Omen I had tried but to other gaming desktops I have used in the last few years. Setup was fairly easy and as expected, including the usual updates that need to occur and getting the settings to where I wanted them for my needs. One of the first things I noticed was that the cooling system for this version is definitely better than it was on the old one I had. I don't feel the need to add fans to help with cooling due to poor airflow design. This one fits the needs of most beginner to moderate gamers out of the box. This desktop handles fairly heavy loads with ease and remains surprisingly quiet compared to the old Omen that I have as well as a few other non-HP gaming desktops I have used. I don't have any immediate negatives that comes to mind with any aspect of this desktop for the average user. For some though they may find the 1TB storage too small for their needs especially if you have games that are on the larger side (One of the COD games comes to mind using over 200GB of storage...if you have multiple games like that 1TB will not be sufficient).
