Excellent bang for buck, it plays every game I throw at it, with decently high settings including raytracing. Doesn't heat up that much, pretty efficient overall.

I'm very impressed with This laptop. My 10 year old son loves it. It runs BeamNG and Fortnite with ease. No lag...excellent performance. Beautiful screen. My only complaint may be the fan is somewhat loud when playing video games. It's not a big deal. After a 2 hour session playing fortnite the laptop was surprisingly cool with the fan running at a high speed the entire session. I purchased a cooling pad just to ensure it stays cool and lasts a long time.

Great Computer for Gaming Mom's Too!

First of all, I was advised by my children to purchase this computer so that I can expand my gaming horizons, so I don't know hardware specifics. I just know it's faster than my last computer and I can play better games on it because of a much better graphics card and RAM. If you're a mom like me who like to play games on or offline that your everyday laptop from Walmart can't handle, this computer will work for you. I'm assured that you can comfortably play games like Fortnite, Call of Duty, Fallout, etc. without issue. I play games like Planet Zoo (which is very detailed) on Steam without out any issues. I think it'd be a great computer for anyone in the family.

Great Notebook for moderate gaming and basic tasks. I got it on sale about a year ago and thus far I haven't had a single blue screen. The CPU does get really warm under full load with the GPU under load as a well. Usually at 90-100C with the GPU maxing out at 72C even after a repaste but this is to be expected with a thin and light notebook. I added an NVME SSD and a 1TB 2.5 inch SATA SSD drive with 16GB of RAM and it's fairly fast for the price I paid. Best of all it's been a very stable platform. At full price there are other options out there, but on sale it's a great buy.

Most people know of the HP Omen series of gaming computers, which are pricey beast machines, and have been great for gaming for many. I didn't need that much computing power, or cost, and found this one. I liked the non standard screen size, at 16.1 inches, for the fact that if I did want to transport, it would be lighter and smaller than a 17.3 inch laptop. Yet, it gave a bit more area than the 15.6 in laptop. The display is a colourful and brilliant display, good for viewing photos and playing games. The keyboard controls and tactile feedback are good, with a solid feel and response. (I like the green back lighting of the keys. Goes well with my Logitech mouse that can change the colour to match as well.) With the SSD, start up is rapid and gets up and running in a few seconds. There is no facial recognition camera or software, so typing in passwords/codes/etc, are the slowest parts of booting up. While their are no specs that mention additional hard drive space, there is a spot for a standard 2.5 HHD in the laptop. BEWARE!!! HP fully encourages user upgrades, had instructions on their online manual and will not void your warranty if you are the type to do so. However, to open the bottom case of this laptop is not for the faint of heart. It is the most difficult laptop/computer that I've ever had to get into to work on. Removing the screws is no problem, but to get the bottom panel off, you have to have a non cutting/marking, thin edged, preferably plastic prying tool to separate the bottom, which is inserted into the primary case, and held by several tabs along the edge. Just getting the tool into the case seam was a task in itself. Then running the tool along the seam, to release the tabs gives the feeling you're breaking something inside. (Which, breaking something WILL void your warranty.) Once inside, you have access to all of the inner workings of the laptop and can modify as you need. I installed a 2 TB 2.5 HHD. I use this for any gaming installation or non essential file that I need to save. I keep my 512 GB SSD for operational and utility software only. As of this time, I have nothing but praise for the performance of this laptop. The 1660 Ti graphics card has worked flawlessly. It's taken care of any standard need I have, and I have played several games with no problems. (Elder Scrolls Online, Sniper Elite series, XCOM series. Nothing overly fast and taxing, like Fortnite or COD.) Fan noise, is no problem to me. (My old laptop sounded like an F-15 going throttle up when going vertical.) I may hear them when they come on, but I quickly ignore them afterwards. The speakers, while not the greatest, they do fine enough for me and my needs. This laptop has Bluetooth, and I can connect to my soundbar to get a better quality sound for gaming or even music if I choose to. If you're looking for an entry gaming laptop, that can do a fair to good job of most games, consider this one, especially if on a budget. If you're looking at a standard computer, that has a study build quality and will handle office, home or routine task for probably many days to come, I highly recommend this laptop. (Ease of use score dropped because of the difficulty of getting into the case of the laptop.)

Love it! Haven't had a computer in a while and finally broke down and got something. I wanted something decent to play some games (wanted to start playing WoW again...) This things a dream. Smooth. Fast. I keep wow graphics a little under max and it works like a dream! I play some other stuff too but wow is definitely the most graphics intensive. Only down side is if you want to play a game or do much make sure you're not far from your charger... This thing murders battery life... But I can overlook that since it runs so well I'd say it was money well spent

This laptop is the single best deal for price-to-performance that I've seen while looking for my first gaming laptop. This system provides great performance at 1080p in pretty much every game out now, while also allowing for me to finally use my Oculus Quest 2 on PC. The screen feels fast and responsive as well. The build quality is also pretty good for $700 (I bought it on sale). If you see this laptop on sale for $700, I would highly recommend it. The extra horsepower of the 1660ti is well worth it when compared to the other $700 gaming laptops with a 1650ti.

I needed to replace an aging laptop with a generic video card with one capable of running a resource intensive game. The backlit keyboard is great for my eyes and my game loads in less than 2 minutes where as it used to take a minimum of 20 minutes if it loaded at all. I was looking for a Core i7 with 16GB but after having a discussion with a manufacturers sale rep who was in the store that day I decided to go with the i5 and 8GB. I got the performance I wanted and saved some money.

It's alright but battery life is pretty terrible. Probably lasts an hour and a half even if I'm just typing in a word document. It's like a jet when you turn it on, making it pretty annoying to bring to class to take notes. Has a decent display and plays games like Risk of Rain 2 at a decent framerate. I would recommend dropping more on a more capable gaming laptop however if you want a gaming machine.

My son is an avid gamer who needed to replace a badly outdated Mac for school. The HP-Pavilion Gaming Laptop was on sale: I read the reviews, took a chance, and have been very pleased with the result. My son is pleased with the functionality of the laptop in our Covid remote era (good sound/images), and he really has been pleased with the speed for gaming. Others have complained about the noisy fan but he didn't find it distracting. This is an excellent choice for the Zooming, part-time e-sports hero!

This laptop is great for the price, especially if you are able to catch it when it is on sale. I bought it almost a year ago when it first came out as an entry to PC gaming, as well as a good laptop for college since everything is mainly online this past year. I have ran into no problems yet and have been using it daily basically as a desktop with it hooked up to a monitor. The only thing I would suggest is possibly upgrading the ram to 16gb of ram if you can afford to do so. 8gb is fine most of the time, but if you multitask a lot, 16gb is more preferable and not too difficult to change on your own. I personally haven't gamed on it a whole lot and tend to use it more for school purposes, but I have ran into no problems both when doing school work and when playing games. I have no regrets buying this laptop, and after almost a year of daily use, I personally am very happy with my purchase!

It's pretty much my first laptop that I've ever bought and it was a decent investment I believe, I definitely think I should've done more research into things like the graphics and processor types, but I didn't really need for like heavy duty gaming, mainly work and some gaming. It's pretty average and I've had it for like 2 years now, I think my main issue is the audio/Bluetooth doesn't always want to connect and I've been getting blue screens more frequently.
