It’s a great calculator with wide range of versatility. The only con for this calculator in my opinion is lack of videos on it. Compared to other graphing calculators this doesn’t have many videos to help guide the user on how to better use the calculator. Though it’s still extremely good if your looking for a top of the line graphing calculator.

I am happy to have this latest model HP Prime calculator. I downloaded the connectivity kit and help files and am writing great programs with input forms etc. The trick to get it connected to my MacBook Pro USB - C port was to buy an additional USB-C to USB 3.0/3.1 A adapter. The dock I had would not work. The HP sync cable was also necessary because the calculator jack is taller than standard USB Micro. So, use the HP connectivity cable with the rubber boot removed into a USB-C to USB A adapter worked good.

The latest HP Prime is fast, fast, fast! Great screen and colors with the right amount of back lighting. The entire calculator exudes quality, as befits an HP, and certainly surpasses the TI NSpire in terms of build and toughness. The first thing I did after switching this on for the first time was to set it to RPN mode, which I have been using for over a decade.

The performance is excellent, the engineering not.

I am happy with the performance of the calculator. It far surpasses all of my previous calculators in speed. The amount of available user memory is adequate, Unfortunately, the calculator quit working several days ago. I hope that between the original warranty by HP and the warranty I purchased through Best Buy it will be fixed.

A sad end to an historic legacy

As a long time HP employee and ardent user of MANY HP calculators since 1984, I was really hoping this machine would be up to the excellent standards of HP devices of years past. Sadly, not so. If you are expecting RPN as you knew it on the HP 48 this does only half the job. RPN only works in numeric mode not in symbolic mode. Even the 48 can be programmed with ALG48, QPI, EQStk and other applications to turn it into a simultaneous equation symbolic powerhouse. The physical design of this calculator is poor, in my opinion. The printing of the alpha characters on the cases is very hard to read. The screen is not easy to see in many lighting conditions other than a darkened room. If you want a fast graphing calculator maybe this is for you but it is already getting dated and unless you simply must have a weak excuse for RPN input then I'd say this is a pass. A tragic end to a once great calculator line from a once great company.

Greater calculator. It takes time to get used to the key placement. It could use some better contrast for the screen on a very well lit room

After being a dedicated ti user for decades, I decided to go with HP for my first CAS capable calculator. While I was worried about working around the interface, I was surprised to find that it is fairly intuitive and the touch screen is a godsend! Would definitely buy again.

I’ve been an HP calculator user since the early 1980s. Recently I needed something for my job in electrical engineering that would do Algebraic math, and other advanced techniques. The Prime is just what I needed.

Most students are locked into Texas Instruments because of school curriculum, but the HP Prime is more powerful. This latest model, the 'G2', has a chip set that is 3X faster than the original Prime, and the original Prime was pretty fast. I would think this was a better choice for engineers or math fans.

I'll confess, I use almost none of the fancier features of this calculator. But for basic arithmetic, RPN with a visible stack is the best thing ever, and this is the only calculator on the market that offers it. The screen is great, not issues with the keyboard. I'd rather USB-C to micro-USB, but this is a small thing.

It's actually a really good calculator, it has many functions and can link up to your computer. It might not fulfill all your needs in school depending on the subject, for calculus and heavy math-related subjects it does, for science, not so much. Make sure to keep it updated.

I'm a professional with a lot of experience with RPN calculators. This version of the Prime is perfect. It has a lot of classic features, and it has a lot of newer capability that is fitting for 2020. It's easy to program, and it's documented well. The battery life is great, it's easy to read, and the keyboard is better than anything out there right now. I love it.

Coming from a seemingly obsolete TI-84, this graphing calculator is spectacular. Backlit touchscreen, very quick computations, beautiful design. Average use results in needing to be charged roughly once every month. I chose this over the new Texas Instruments because I have no need for oversized alphabetical buttons.

I excelled in college statistics and physics because of this. Most problems can be solved using just the built-in apps. So much you can do it might look intimidating first, but help button can help with that somewhat. It’s blazing fast and I love it but mine freezes occasionally after intensive use. Easily fixable by rebooting the system via connectivity kit software. I don’t think I want to use any other calculators anymore.

It takes some time to read and learn the functions but it worth the trouble. The large keys make operation easy for people with big thumbs. The screen is large enough to display almost anything. Best for university students or professionals. Sometimes confusing to work through the menus or keys with multiple functions. I would recommend.
