I got this laptop during a Deal of the Day about 2 weeks ago. It was at $599 but I got an open box at $508. First thing I did was buy 32gb of Ram and a 2tb NVME drive. Installing the drive and ram was pretty straight forward. I was surprised that the laptop had 2 NVME slots. I was debating between a handheld gaming pc or a gaming laptop. I do light gaming and also use slicing software for my 3D printer. I have to say, I am not disappointed at all with the Victus laptop. I have been playing the Gears of War beta and it looks great. I am getting over 100 fps. One thing I noticed when I have the system metrics going is that GoW Beta makes the CPU run at 100%, same with CoD and any graphic intensive game. I think the i5 processor is likely the culprit but the thermals stay in a good range. Don't get me wrong, you can hear the fans when they go on high but I can also hear my wall AC so it's not a big problem. I seriously wanted to splurge on the Asus G14 or G16 but did not want to spend all that money, especially since I didn't need all that power. The screen isn't something to brag about but it gets bright enough and I honestly keep my laptop connected to an external 2k monitor so its a none-issue for me. The HP Omen software is pretty good in that it lets you tweak your games using their AI to switch the game to the beset display settings but outside of enabling the metrics, I rarely use it I think if you can find this laptop at $500 or below, it is a great buy, just get more ram.

    Ok for the price

Overall I would say this laptop is ok for the price. I'll admit my attitude going into it wasn't the best because I feel I was forced into purchasing a new laptop just to get Windows 11 before October, but it had to be done and so far this laptop has met my requirements at least. I've had an ASUS gaming laptop for almost 15 years that I've really enjoyed so it's been really difficult for me to have to replace it. I've actually tried a few replacements over the years but ended up returning them for various reasons and just ended up taking the ASUS in for repairs because it was somehow outperforming the newer, more expensive models I was trying to replace it with. I think I still prefer my old ASUS to this HP, but keeping the old one is no longer an option so I've decided this one is sufficient for at least the next few years. The main issue I have with it so far is the touchpad. Since I've not been in the market for a new laptop for quite some time I had no idea it wouldn't have actual buttons to left and right click. I'm getting used to it, but I don't see myself ever preferring this to tactile buttons. Also no matter how I change the sensitivity settings I'm still having issues with it. Even at the lowest settings I'm still getting a lot of accidental clicks and dragging issues while being unable to control finer movements to click on smaller buttons. I tried adjusting back to medium sensitivity and the finer movements still aren't improved. The worst issue I've experienced with the touchpad though is if you place it directly on your lap it goes absolutely berserk. I did some research and finally saw a reddit post where some users had narrowed it down to an issue with the plastic casing. Somehow the touchpad will sense anything around it or even under it. Just resting it on your legs can trigger unintended 3 or 4 finger gestures. The 2nd time I used the laptop on my lap I placed it on a cooling pad and it eliminated the issue, but I still would have liked to have known about it before purchasing. The first time it happened I spent a good 4 hours fighting with it, thinking I'd gone insane and was somehow failing to be able to use a simple touchpad before finally finding this information. I had scoured the reviews to a similar model this one was based on (this one only had 1 review at the time I purchased it) and not a single person mentioned this issue. I find that so strange since apparently it's a known issue that many reddit users have complained about. Personally, I find it very concerning that the laptop casing is so thin and cheap that the touchpad can sense through it. While it does look nice, you can tell right away that it feels kind of flimsy. Thankfully it seems I got a good one at least because during my research I did see photos that others had posted where their touchpad was sunken in along one side and having worse issues. Mine is at least level and functioning but I know for future reference to be extremely careful with it. I haven't had an HP in a long time but I do like how quickly it starts up. I could do without some of the ads though. For the first week it feels like it gave me weird startup notifications almost every time I started it. Some of them seemed quite urgent like "low memory" and "registry issues detected", which at first glance is really concerning when using a brand new laptop but I found that if you click to resolve the issue it basically just takes you to an advertisement for HP iolo. I'm fine if a company wants to advertise, but the false system notifications are really uncalled for. Despite my annoyance and concerns with how well the plastic casing and touchpad will hold up, I have decided to keep it. Keep in mind I've only used it for less than 2 weeks but it does at least perform well. Hopefully it will continue to hold up long-term.

For a Core i5, that's quite a bit of power.

Honestly, I bought it more for how it looks and I loved the design. I knew it was a modest processor for games, but I was surprised by the performance since between the video card and the disk, it runs demanding games. Yes, I increased the RAM and I will put more, but apart from its excellent presentation, the keyboard is super smooth, it is the best average machine for work, games, design and content creation.

Grandson's Christmas present and he raves about how fast and easy to use it is. Glad I bought it for him! We'll probably bring it in for some helpful Geel Squad hints about using its features.

    HP Victus 15.6 (i5/RTX 3050) Review: A Solid Budge

give me a neutral one paragraph product review of the HP Victus 15.6 with the i5 and 3050 gpu The HP Victus 15.6 with an Intel Core i5 processor and NVIDIA RTX 3050 GPU generally offers a solid entry-level gaming experience, capably running many modern titles at 1080p on medium to high settings with its 144Hz display, though the screen's brightness and color accuracy can be limiting. While its all-plastic build might exhibit some flex and battery life is typical for a budget gaming laptop (requiring it to be plugged in for extended gaming), it provides good value for its performance and typically maintains reasonable thermals.

very good computer the build quality is exceptional and it has good specs. The only drawback would be the RAM there is only 8gb of it which can slow things down but i have never had any big issues with it great computer I highly recomend

The HP Victus 15.6" is a great pick if you're getting into PC gaming or need a capable laptop for everyday use. The Intel Core i5 and RTX 3050 combo handles most games well on medium to high settings, and the 144Hz display makes gameplay feel super smooth. It looks clean and modern in Mica Silver, and the keyboard is comfortable for long sessions. The 512GB SSD keeps things running fast, and there’s enough power for school, work, and light content creation too. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly gaming laptop that still delivers solid performance, this one’s a smart choice.

For the price it's a great budget buy. I had to stuff an additional 2TB of Storage and 32GB of RAM for it to make sense for my workloads and games, but I'd say it is a better bargain than most PCs in it's price range Used from BackMarket or FB MarketPlace.

I bought this for my 12-year-old daughter for the holidays, and she uses it for both gaming and schoolwork. It’s perfect for what she needs and has given her no issues so far. She can even play The Sims 4 without any lag. While she doesn’t use mods or custom content, the laptop easily handles the base game plus multiple expansions. It’s lightweight, the fans work well, and it doesn’t overheat even after hours of gameplay. Overall, it’s a great laptop and a solid purchase.

I got mine on black Friday discount, 300 dollars off retail, so that does factor into my review. This is my 2nd HP budget gaming laptop since 2020. Both have been able to run modern games at low settings. The big draw back to both is A only 8GB of RAM on the standard/budget model, and relatively small SSD drive space by todays bloated game install sizes. Excellent value for money and highly recommend for budget entry level gaming laptop.

Easy to set up and great for a beginner. Was told I couldn't install more ram but that was incorrect. We bought 16 GB of ram and installed it. Works great. Great bang for your buck entry level gaming laptop. We have been able to play AAA titles with no issues. Workers were trying to tell us not to get it and that we weren't able to buy ram for it. There is an empty slot where you can install more. It configured automatically. We had an initial issue with being sold a refurbished one as a brand new one. Luckily we caught it and were able to take it back as we were charged full price when it was an open box returned one. Manager couldn't find the 1 they had left. An employee was able to locate it right where it said it was. We felt we were being played at first. But the worker that helped us thank you for finding it. My son was very happy. Graphics and everything are great for a first time PC gamer. The only downside is the battery life. However he plays it on his desk so he can plug it it when needed.

This was purchased for my 14 y/o as his introduction into gaming laptop/ PC world and HE LOVES IT!!! He has been on that laptop every opportunity he’s allowed. The price point was perfect, as these items can tend to be very pricey. The associate in the store was very helpful with answering any questions that I had. As a single mom who stopped at Nintendo I had PLENTY lol

Purchased at 529 and it far exceeded my expectations. This machine comes with 1 open RAM slot and 1 open NVME slot, so i got a Crucial 32GB DDR4 3200Mhz kit (2x 16GB) and a Team Group 2TB NVME SSD and this thing is a workhorse for my needs. I really appreciate the muted 'Gamer' theme as the keyboard is backlit in white and the whole appearance is very mature with minimal branding. 13th Gen i5 works well for my needs, and 6GB of dedicated RTX 3050 horsepower is very reliable. I currently use it for esports titles which all get 100+FPS maxed out, RTS titles, and indie games. If you are realistic about your needs, I think this a great purchase. At the time of this review this machine is even lower priced at 499, making it a steal. Add some RAM and a 2nd SSD!
