Customers are saying

Customers regard the DUO 7-Port USB-C Hub favorably for its USB-C and other ports, compatibility with various devices, and ease of use due to its magnetic design. Many appreciate its quality and the additional ports it provides, along with its thoughtful design. However, some customers experienced issues with the fit and connection stability, and some reported that the device gets warm during use. The overall user experience appears to be positive, despite some reported drawbacks.

Great upgrade to the original MacBook USB-C Hub!

I have been using and loving the original Kickstarter version since 2017 so I felt that it's time for an update and this new 2020 version did not disappoint. This new 2020 version addressed all the minor issues I had with the 2017 Kickstarter version. - It now supports 4K60Hz HDMI (was previously 4K30Hz) - New magnetic grip (now the hub feels more stable and secure on the MacBook) - It now finally works with MacBook cases (just remove the grip) - Both USB-C ports now support pass-through charging - MicroSD card goes all the way into the hub - Now includes an USB-C extension cable (so you can use it with any USB-C device, not just the MacBook - Free leather pouch to keep everything nice and neat I have been using this 2020 version for more than a week and absolutely love it. There are many copycats in the market that copied the 2017 version so they still have the same old issues. HyperDrive has always been a pioneer and probably just came out with the best USB-C hub for the MacBook Pro/Air. Absolutely Recommended!

    Not Perfect But It Works

This hub works on my MacBook Pro. I can power up the laptop and I can attached flash drives and read photos from my camera via the the up's built in card reader. These are the positives. The design holds well to the macBook, but the cover cannot close properly due to the docking station's plastic attachment. The design of the hub does not match up with the lines of the MacBook making the fit precarious. I have used two hubs not labeled as Apple Products. This is the best I've used to date, and for the price this hub works, but it isn't a perfect fit.

The HyperDrive Hub has ports for practically all phones and tablets out on the market. it clicks into the laptop strongly like it has teeth inside that clamp down. It also has an HDMI port to connect an additional monitor or even your living room's t.v. The two slots in the center are for a micro sd card, and for the larger sd cards that typically go into DSLR camera such as Canons or Nikons. The material is a strong metal and the gray is the same as my space gray laptop. Cons: -The black magnetic bar it comes with does not allow the screen to close fully. If you close the screen everyday, like I do, you have to use this without the black bar otherwise you'll be unplugging it everyday. -With it in use with an additional monitor and other ports such as the usb, the device gets really hot. I have a laptop stand with a fan that I keep on during use to help cool it down. -Does not have a port for ethernet. It would be a complete hub with an ethernet port. I could only wish.

I use this on my MacBook Air, it’s really convenient and just all around nice to have. If you remove the black shield you might not have to take off half your computer case.

Compact yet supports everything I needed. It is really nice that it has two USB-C ports. I am using one to connect my monitor and the other to charge my laptop and it works great. Aesthetics-wise, it looks pretty decent although that wasn't a factor for me.

Good cost + option for external monitor

Been trying to get more use out of my M1 2020 macbook pro and wanting to use an external monitor. Got this USB hub to not only add USB's to the setup (mainly because I don't have a lot that just uses USB C) Between bluetooth and USB A I am covered now. Bonus was getting a HDMI so I can out put to an external monitor. I have a Dell 27' 2k monitor and enjoy it very much so this made it easy for my setup to connect to it and use it now with my macbook. Not a lot of additional things needed and was a cheaper option then buying a USB C docking station. Comes with a adapter as well if you don't want it to be connected on the side of the macbook. FYI fits prefect on my 2020 M1 macbook pro with no issues. In the box comes the adapter plus a nice soft carrying case if you need to throw it in a book bag or your backpack.

Just bought this with my new MacBook Air yesterday when my old MBAir died Friday night. Wasn't sure I'd like only having two C connectors, but picked up this hub too and glad I did. It's solid when you connect it (get the one with 2 C plugin's tabs). Used it to transfer an SD card file and worked perfectly. Worth the extra investment, and the space gray matches perfectly. Also surprised and happy to see how compact it was and it comes with its own leather carrying case. Told a friend of mine about it today and he's buying one too for his new MB Air.

This is a great product that allows you to charge extra devices and/or utilize a mouse that comes with a USB - whatever needs you may have for the available ports. The only downside Is that you can not charge your computer while using the docking station since it blocks the pc charging port. I so also have to take off the magnetic strip when in use as it doesn't fully connect to my MacBook when it's on. I think my computer is just a bit too thick for it.

It works, well!! BUT it doesn’t plug all the way into the ports. I was Hoping it plugged in and was flush with the computer but it doesn’t. And what that means is it’s barely connected so when you plug something in to the USB port, the other things disconnect and reconnect... very bad for hard drives. (See the pictures. That’s as far in as it goes... They included this little go between thing that’s supposed to help but it doesn’t. It makes it LOOK better but not perform better. AND the go between (spacer thing) actually sits on the computer like a lip so if you close your screen while it’s on, you’re gonna get some damage. I haven't Found the one I want Yet but I would take this back if I could!!

A necessary accessory for any Mac user, especially if you do creative work. I was concerned it wasn’t going to fit over my Incase hardshell cover, but if you remove the bumper it fits perfectly. It also comes with a carrying case, and extension cable which was a nice surprise.

Works as expected. Packaging states that it works with laptop shell which is sort of correct. My shell partially extends under the unit so it doesn’t seat well in the laptop. To seat well, I had to trim away part of the shell. If you have a shell, test before you purchase. I have yet to try out the card slots. Photo is before trimming the shell.

Not good for my brand new Macbook pro 16"

Purchased this for my new macbook pro 16". The unit itself is nice but the fit and function is horrible. With the "spacer support" the device just barely even fits the ports enough to engage because the spacer does not fit square to the case and causes the device to want to push away or out of the ports and creates a gap between the device and your computer which in turn does not give the two usbc ports a positive connection with the macbook. Without the spacer the device fits the port but with such a large gap between the computer and the device its not sturdy and you will risk breaking either the laptop or devices usbc adapters. What would have fixed this in my situation is rather than having this horrible design spacer support piece, they should have just made the device either have legs or some other form of support to the table surface below that my computer will sit on. Instead it is almost like a diving board with the amount of flex it creates. I've included a picture of the plastic spacer part "firmly" on my macbook and as square as I could get it to be to hopefully demonstrate the bad profile of the plastic part which makes the device push out of the ports.

The hyperdrive made it possible to plug in a second monitor and not lose any available ports for other accessories. The only improvement I would suggest would be to modify the physical profile so that you could shut the laptop completely closed with the hyperdrive still on the laptop.

I love this hub. I can charge the MacBook, power my Cricut Maker, and utilize my wireless mouse. It also has 2 card slots and a port to plug in in HDMI cable. Glad I bought this.
