Customers regard the DUO 7-Port USB-C Hub favorably for its USB-C and other ports, compatibility with various devices, and ease of use due to its magnetic design. Many appreciate its quality and the additional ports it provides, along with its thoughtful design. However, some customers experienced issues with the fit and connection stability, and some reported that the device gets warm during use. The overall user experience appears to be positive, despite some reported drawbacks.

This hub now has a "rubber bumper" to help provide stability as it is plugged into the side of the MacBook Pro. Very nice idea overall for the product itself and it works well, as well as quality feel. It fills a niche well for provided more connection.

I needed a versatile hub to provide additional ports that my MacBook Air did not have. This hub has all of the ports that I was in need of and matched the aesthetics of my laptop, as well! Brilliant, sturdy design that really enhances my laptop's flexibility and capability. It has definitely enhanced my 'user experience' with my Air! I have only one minor, negative comment to make regarding the design of this hub: If you have a protective hardshell case on your laptop you WILL be able to attach the hub to the two USB-C ports on your laptop BUT not with the removable black magnetic grip attached to the hub (it is an attachment 'stabilizer' for the hub). You'll still get a firm attachment to the laptop, but not as firmly as you would be able to with the grip attached to the hub. You CAN attach the hub to the laptop when you have a hardshell case on the laptop - and it is very secure - but not ideal if you are in environment where the hub could get 'bumped'. Even at its most vulnerable, the hub is very sturdy and well-seated. The black magnetic grip (the removal black plastic piece that you see attached to the hub in the photo) prevents the laptop from being closed completely when you are using the hub without a hardshell case in place. The solution is to either use the hub without the magnetic grip attached, or, remove the hub when you're done using it. The magnetic grip stabilizes the hub when it is attached to the laptop but is not necessary for the hub to function. The USB-C pins on the hub fit snuggly and firmly into the USB-C ports on the laptop. I use my hub without the magnetic grip attached very easily and with confidence. In spite of that observation, this hub gets an easy 5 stars! Very pleased!!

I have the original HyperDrive Duo that I backed on Kickstarter, and it's been working great for me for quite a long while. I decided to buy this updated version because we just bought a new 75' Samsung 4K TV and I use my 2016 MacBook Pro 15" primarily in clamshell mode hooked to the TV as my monitor. Since this was our first 4K TV, I wanted to get 4K @ 60Hz, and since the original HyperDrive worked for me so well, I thought it was a no-brainer to get an updated version that brought that functionality along with all the legacy ports. Unfortunately, I am very unimpressed. After plugging the new HyperDrive Duo into the left side ports of my MacBook Pro, and then hooking up the HDMI cable (which is a Rocketfish Premium High Speed cable, capable of 18Gbps) and two external hard drives to the two USB-A ports, I checked and I'm still only getting 4K @ 30Hz. I've restarted the computer, with no change. I've checked the Displays settings in System Preferences, and changed to a few different resolutions, but they all top out at 30Hz. I know that my MacBook Pro and the HDMI cable and the 4K TV are together capable of doing 4K @ 60Hz because I also have a Club3D USB-C to HDMI adapter that I've used recently that does allow me to do 60Hz. So the problem lies somewhere with the HyperDrive. Not only does this product not do the primary thing I bought it for ... it's also poorly designed. It comes with a black magnetic "grip" piece which is really only useful when using the HyperDrive with the laptop open. If you close the lid, it will close, but the grip still bumps the lid up a tiny bit on the side it’s on. You cannot easily remove and reinstall the HyperDrive in clamshell mode. You have to open the lid to put it back in with the grip, then close the lid. If you pull it out while in clamshell mode, only the main body comes out; the grip remains trapped by the closed lid. Yes, you can remove the grip piece and use the HyperDrive by itself, but the male USB-C ends are made extra long to accommodate the grip piece. So the HyperDrive, by itself, does not sit flush against the MacBook Pro. There is a significant gap left between the computer and the HyperDrive body, which makes the connection loose. So, for example, if you try to unplug an external hard drive from one of the USB-A ports, it will pull the whole HyperDrive out of the computer's USB-C ports. I"m also not a fan of the fact that they moved the light (that shows the HyperDrive is getting power) from the end of the unit to the side where the ports are (and made it much smaller). Since my MacBook Pro is usually in clamshell mode underneath my TV, I came to depend on that light to let me know that the HyperDrive was firmly attached to the computer and receiving power. All of this stacks up to be a major, major disappointment. Maybe I got a defective unit, I don't know. But I do know I'll be returning it to Best Buy. I guess I'll just stick with using the original HyperDrive Duo for my external hard drive legacy connections and the Club3D HDMI adapter to get the true 4K @ 60Hz that this adapter claims to provide, but doesn't.

This is a great accessory that works wonderfully to make an easy expansion of various outlets on my MacBook and also looks great hooked up to my MacBook. Looks like it came with it. Wish it had a VGA plug but otherwise it is awesome.

I am a big fan of this hub. The new Macbook Pro doesn't have any USB-C options. This fits the Macbook well if you don't have a hard-shell cover. The grey color of this matches the space grey of the Macbook perfectly.
