Customers are saying

Customers regard the DUO 7-Port USB-C Hub favorably for its USB-C and other ports, compatibility with various devices, and ease of use due to its magnetic design. Many appreciate its quality and the additional ports it provides, along with its thoughtful design. However, some customers experienced issues with the fit and connection stability, and some reported that the device gets warm during use. The overall user experience appears to be positive, despite some reported drawbacks.

It mostly worked but a few times it wasn’t seeing the attached screen. I was only using two ports so i ended up removing it and just connecting directly.

It's okay. It does do what it's supposed to, but if you touch it the wrong way you lose the connection for a few seconds.

Seems to be well made and fits mechanically, but NOT ENOUGH PORTS. Only two USB-C. Could use at least two more.

Great little device but only gets two stars from me because it is an awful design - the fact that this hangs off the side of my computer and can easily get bumped made it prone to an easy break after being bumped around several times just gently. Did not last six months I was a bit disappointed with the price.

I always love products that are designed to match the look and feel of a high end device like an Apple product. The HyperDrive - DUO 7-in-2 USB Type-C Hub for MacBook Pro does not disappoint. It is compact , well machined and streamlined for having 7 inputs. You can read all the basic specifics in all the other reviews and the basic listing from Bestbuy so I want to emphasis the key pros and cons : Pros - - the USB-C ports support power delivery and data. In other words, pass through power. - It is plug and play and passed all tests I did on all the ports. - Includes an USB-C extension to use it on other devices. I tried it on a LG Gram and Ipad Pro. - Does not require an external power source. - beautifully well machined and high quality. Cons – - tight going into the MacBook Pro. At first, I was hesitant that I was going to break something. - Sort of a con, unknown power availability on the USB A ports. The silver version specification states that it does not support Apple SuperDrive (see the HyperDrive website.) I did not test this but I imagine the power demands prevent of the Superdrive and probably similar power intensive devices from working. It is something to consider if you intend on powering an external drive that is not a SSD or some other device of similar power consumption. - super annoying marketing nonsense about the carry case. Hyperdrive advertises it is made of “vegan leather.” What it is really called is plastic or , more specifically , polyurethane. HyperDrive – just stop it. Overall, I like this product. It is a nice addition to any MacBook Pro and it looks like it is part of the MacBook. At the full price of $100, the HyperDrive Duo is a bit pricey for USB hub. However, I am seeing this on “sale” for $80 and that is getting more in line. The cons mentioned above are barely cons and the last con is tongue and cheek. The HyperDrive - DUO 7-in-2 USB Type-C Hub gets 4 out of 5 stars for doing everything it was designed to, the great build quality and the top notch design; losing 1 star for the cost. I recommend it for all MacBook Pro users.

The first thing to realize about this hub is that it is indeed compatible with the Macbook Pro 16" as well as the 13". It's actually compatible with a number of USB-C devices thanks to the included extension plug (that was a nice touch). But the unit also comes with a plastic bracket that fits between the hub and the laptop. This allows the hub to be used with a Macbook Pro that has an external shell on it, or, if going bare, the bracket fills what would otherwise be a gap between it and the laptop. However, that plastic bracket only fits a Macbook Pro 13", not the 16". It would have been nice to include an extra bracket for this purpose. Also, since the bracket hangs over the laptop speakers a little, the screen won't close flush with the hub installed: It actually lifts the back a little which doesn't seem too healthy for the laptop. One other issue: since the hub has a little gap to the table, plugs can hang down and may cause some undue stress on the ports. It would have been nice to add some extra support under the hub. I ended up 3D printing my own bracket to fix these issues. With all of that said, the device itself works wonderfully. I didn't experience any weird disconnects, and having two USB-C ports is a definite plus since many hubs only have one. If there were an ethernet port then the hub would have been even better, but it's understandable considering the space constraints. One final note: the hub matches the color of my Space Gray Macbook Pro almost perfectly - at least I can't really see a difference. It's as if the two were made for each other.

This is high quality and is good but 100 dollars is a lot if you ask me. Then again I'm not using it for any professional work so I'm not getting the total value out of it you could theoretically get. If you're just looking to get a couple extra ports out of the two on your MacBook. BUY A CHEAPER ONE. You will know if you need something like this
