Customers are saying

Customers regard the DUO 7-Port USB-C Hub favorably for its USB-C and other ports, compatibility with various devices, and ease of use due to its magnetic design. Many appreciate its quality and the additional ports it provides, along with its thoughtful design. However, some customers experienced issues with the fit and connection stability, and some reported that the device gets warm during use. The overall user experience appears to be positive, despite some reported drawbacks.

Not a fit for M1 based macbook

This does not work for the Macbook with the M1 chip in it. The magnetic dock assist plastic piece does not fit the form of the macbook, and without it looks terrible and unstable as the USB C connectors are too long and need the plastic piece.

Unfortunately this product failed to serve it's purpose. The station when connected to the computer does not stay in place. Every time I take out a USB from the station, the whole station comes off the computer. Poorly constructed.

Did not sit against computer like designed (could get it to work but had to skip the plastic bar that was supposed to make it fit snug) and more annoying it did not provide enough power through to run USB devices (usb super drive)

Hated it, as it falls out of MacBook from the side and just not as easy to keep sturdy - works but you’ll constantly have to adjust it - save your money get one that attaches with a cord

Misleading This DOES NOT WORK for the Macbook Pro!

Misleading. This DOES NOT WORK for the Macbook Pro. The magnetic strip! It's is not magnetic it's plastic and the wrong size for the MacBook Pro and it doesn't fit against it, there's a gap about a 1/3 inch wide so it doesn't sit firmly where you could use it. Also you lose the power port if you decide to use this. Very disappointed in the misleading advertising of this product.

Honestly, I think the transition to USB-C has been really slow. Companies really have not started using the universal port. Obviously, a certain company capitalizes on this by making us use adapters even between their own devices. However, while being stuck in this transition phase, the HyperDrive DUO 7 in 2 is without a doubt the best adapter you can buy. And it's not a dongle! They got it right on the first iteration. They did it better this time around. What comes in the box is the hub itself, the magnetic grip, extension cable, and bag. The magnetic grip works well. It helps the hub become more secure on the macbook. However, what really helps is if you take the grip off, then you can use the hub even with macbooks with cases on them. The problem with the previous generation was that the hub would not work with macbook cases because the connectors were too short. However, the connectors are longer this time around to accommodate the magnetic grip. If you remove the grip, then it fits even with macbook cases! The extension cable is useful for devices that are not macbooks but have USB-C ports. The interesting thing is the extension cable only works with the second USB-C connector. I don't know if it was just my unit but it did not work with the first. However, I was very pleased to have a hub that could be used for other USB-C devices, albeit as a dongle. The leather pouch is nice. It provides some protection while you are transporting the hub. I will say it is a bit of a tight fit, especially if you try to fit the extension cable in there. I think a little bit more room would have been nice. The important part is performance. As you know, the 7 ports are the 2 USB-C ports, 2 USB 3.1, SD and Micro card reader, and HDMI ports. These work great. Honestly, you won't have any problems with data speeds. However, what really impressed me was the HDMI port. 4K at 60 Hz! For those who ask if there is a difference between 30 Hz and 60 Hz, yes there is. The one thing that I feel could have added even more is an Ethernet port. You win some, you lose some. All in all, I absolutely recommend this. Apple dongles are already 60-70 dollars for far fewer ports. This hub has absolutely better value. Until everyone uses USB-C, the HyperDrive DUO is the adapter to get.

The HyperDrive - DUO 7-in-2 USB Type-C Hub for MacBook Pro - Gray has a slim compact design. Ability to secure easily using a MacBook Pro or a Device that is compatible with the type C device. This HyperDrive can be easily connected. I was able to charge my devices, and I am able to do data file transfers using a MicroSD card. The ability to do data file transfers from my SD Card/micro SD card is so important to me as I take a lot of pictures for fundraising, newsletter articles for a place I volunteer for, and recognition of different community partners. and even my MicroSD card is a plus. I store so many pictures on my MicroSD card. Wonderful to be able to transfer data quickly. PROS for Me: Transfering Data from more than one SD Card. Ability to connect to type C Small and Portable Comes with a type C extender. I used this to charge my phone.

I got this for my MacBook Pro 16" (2019) and it works great. The little plastic adapter does help to make it more secure, but the magnet in it isn't very strong. Still, it stays in place even when plugging in a heavy HDMI cable for one of my monitors. When you take the MacBook somewhere else, you'll definitely want to pull the hub out because the lid won't close securely with the plastic adapter in place. It does have a nice little slip case to carry it in while traveling. I also like that it includes a short (3" or so) USB-C extension cable so you can use the hub on other machines besides the MacBooks with dual USB-C ports in them. There are a lot of similar hubs on the market for various prices, so depending on what external connections you need this may be overkill. If you do decide on this hub, though, I don't think you'll be sorry.

Top Features in a USB-C hub

If you plug in anything except for a power cord to your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro, this device is an absolute must. Let's face it - since the dawn of USB-C on the MBA/MBP line a few years ago, Mac users live in a dongle world. My travel case is full of USB-A to C adaptors, HDMI adaptors, charging cords, etc.. but this device really delivers in the way of shrinking down the number of dongles I have to carry. The features of this device are self explanatory if you're looking at it, but the addition of both SD Card readers is a huge pro for me. A couple things I'm lukewarm on are the way the dongle looks and feels when I use it with the case on my MBP. On one hand, I'm grateful the device is compatible with a case. I've seen a few similar devices that are absolute no-gos if you have any sort of case on your MBP. On the other hand, the device looks a little strange with a gap between the MBP and the hub where the case gaps to allow access to the ports. The extra long USB-C connectors also seem slightly unstable and I'm always afraid I'm going to break it while using. If you are obsessive about this kind of thing, the metal on the case of the hub doesn't match the space gray on my MBP exactly, but it's close. If that's a big deal for you, just know that going in. Otherwise, this device is going to save me a bunch of room in my travel cord organizer, and once business travel resumes - it's going to be a welcome addition to my travel setup.

I had a total tech appointment and asked what product would be best to hook my MacBook Air to my Epson 2650 printer. I was told this product was what I needed. My printer has a cord with a USB A end that works great connected to my old Dell laptop. It doesn't connect at all to the printer when connected to the USB A port on the HyperDrive DUO port USB-C Docking station when it's plugged directly into the MacBook Air.
