The Hyperdrive works but if it is bumped at all, it disconnects. If you are streaming a video to a projector or separate screen, and you bump your computer it disconnects way to easy. If I could return it I would get one with a cord. When it is connected though it does work. I also have the 2017 13 Macbook pro, and the hyperdrive does not sit flush, it is raised. Almost designed to be flush but they just didn't make it, it looks a little sloppy.

Brace yourself for the soul-sucking disappointment that comes along with the purchase of this product. At first, the HDMI doesn't seem to work though the device's power light is on. Lo and behold, the connection is VERY tenuous and takes EXTRA pushing in for it to work, and if you shift anything even slightly, well, consider that connection as good as gone. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ITEM! Hundred bucks for a poorly connecting dongle... no thank you!

I do not recommend this product. The connection to my MacBook Pro is terrible. I can barely touch my laptop and it loses connection. When I have a USB plugged in my "device not ejected properly" box pops up constantly as the Hyper Drive is connecting and disconnecting. I spent the $99 because I was so excited to not have to mess with cables but I'll be returning this and seeking an alternative option.

The hyperdrive is a joke. It disconnects even you just bump your computer and for a laptop that is portable, this is probably the worst, flimsy, piece of plastic I have every purchased. I literally flops around and disconnects repeatedly. When you are using an SD card in it, when it gets unplugged, it won't read the card again when I plug it back it. So much time has been wasted because of this connected/disconnected cycle. If they had made it to anchor into the side of computer with more than a tiny piece of metal, it could work. Better yet, just keep the ports in the computer and don't charge us for an additional products just to be able to use the computer. I feel tricked and scammed by apple. The hyperdrive is why I will not be purchasing any more apple products. This is the dumbest design I have seen in a computer to date. Instead of more convenience and ease, it brings inconvenience and frustration.

I bought this to work with two external displays while using my macbook pro at my desk. What I found upon first using it is that it only charges via one of the USB-C ports, and it only works with display's via one USB-C port. They are the same port. This rendered my setup unusable.

I've tried to put it on a couple of cases and I have to remove it to plug this thing in. I would think that it would work with the USB superdrive, but when I tried to use it, it keeps saying that it needs a USB adapter to use, even though it is plugged into the usb section and I've tried both plugs on both sides of the laptop. MacBook is up to date.

Nice that there are 7 ports but if the drive doesn’t fit securely, nothing charges and that is why I gave this 2 stars. I plug into an iPad Pro 3rd generation and have to be so careful that the hyper drive does not come loose in any circumstances.

This product is great for the time being but it was not secure enough. If you are working on your mac on a flat surface such as a desk or table, this product is flawless. But if you tend to move your computer around from time to time, it takes little to no effort for the usb hub to loosen up enough to disconnect from the computer.

I bought this and the first time I try it, it does not work. The light doesn't even turn on. It doesn't fit in at all, very loose and if you want to unplug anything you just plugged in it might take the whole driver off... very disappointed.

Do not buy. Had for just over a year, went to use charger and hdmi ports at same time. The adapter fried my charger but did not realize that had happened. I thought it was just my charger dying. Next week my friend used the adapter and had the exact same thing happen to their charger. Different computer, different outlet, different charger, same adapter and same result. After buying two new mac chargers I contacted Hyperdrive's customer service and they said since it was past the one year warranty there was nothing they would do. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Customer service is slow and bad.

I spent $90 on a product that doesn't work well at all! I really have to push it in to connect, then hold it to stay connected. This is not conducive and makes working so much more difficult.

One major flaw - cannot connect Thunderbolt display via adapter via HyperDrive to my Macbook. Period. The Thunderbolt 3 port on Hyperdrive is not the same as my Thunderbolt port on the Macbook. Total disappointment and frustration. Going back to the store.

Looks good and matches the color of the lap top but thats were the good ends. It very easily looses connection to the laptop. any slight movement will trigger it. It worked fine for the first 2 months of use. But at this point is a bigger pain than it needs to be. I cant tell you the countless number of times I've lost work because of it, i wish i could get my money back. Please avoid buying this item

For starters I think it is slightly annoying that Mac only has the USB-C ports on it. Anyway this adapter works pretty well, one if my USB ports doesn't really work, says the device ejects when I am using it. Same with the SD reader.

This adapter DOES NOT WORK with the Apple superdrive DVD playe, although the Best Buy salesman assured me that it would. Further investigation found that Apple confirms that it is not compatible.

After a couple months, the HDMI and USB ports all went out. It would not be so bad except the price is too high to only use it for a short time.

This is a great idea but didn't work for me. First one I got didn't work. Contacted tech support (or whatever excuse for online support they have) and they told me to take it back and swap out. Second one had the same issue. Their website has little to no support for this device and when they are asked to provide tech support, they ask to send a video of the set up. I will be sending video but very skeptical of it working at all.

Initially, this thing worked great. It did everything I needed it to. It ran a monitor via HDMI and another via USB-C. However, now one of the USB-C ports is completely dead. I haven't even had this thing for 5 months yet. I will attempt to return it but something tells me that the warranty is too far gone.

Disconnects my drive every time I use. I would never suggest anyone buying this. I am not picky when It comes to gear, but I simply want it to work and stay connect. I returned the first one I bought because the usb would not plug in. Now I am going to take the second one back and try to get a refund.. I purchase an apple USB-C to USB and it never disconnects. Works fine. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT...

The slightest movement causes the hub to disconnect. Eventually won't connect at all.
