Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the HyperDrive 7-Port USB C Hub's numerous USB ports, ease of use, and compact size, finding it convenient for expanding their MacBook's connectivity. However, some customers express concerns regarding compatibility issues, the price point, connection stability, and the device's tendency to generate heat. The sleek design is frequently praised. Despite some drawbacks, many appreciate the added ports and user-friendliness.

Very useful but not ideal for charging

I was really impressed with this product at first. You get every port you need without all of the bulk of adapters. At first look, It looks like a well designed product, unfortunately you don't get that feeling when you' try to plug it in. The two USB C male connectors feel very low quality, like they would bend easily, which wouldn't be that big of a deal except for the fact that to fully connect (turn the light on) it you have to force it in. If you have a MacBook Air it will NOT plug in with a hardshell case. The BIGGEST problem for me was charging. It WILL slow the charging of your MacBook if you're trying to charge through it. For how useful this product can be, I will say, this is still a good product. If they release a 2nd Gen with fixes, I will be first in line. I recommend this product on the condition that its charging issue is known.

Just get this with your laptop purchase. Mine came with lifetime warranty. I have been very happy with the color(close to space grey) and the flush fit. I am not a fan of the wired type c converters. This was a great option for me(except for the slightly higher cost). I did have to replace mine once, but the support was solid and I had a new one with me in no time. If you are into making video projects and use an external display, this will be a good dongle to have on hand.

I got this product to use with my MacBook Pro, and it works perfectly and looks very nice, but I don’t think it is worth $100.

Comes with a leather case. Despite being less bulky than other products still seems unsightly when left connected to Mac book

Fits on my MacBook like it's part of it. Gives me the USB ports I need for my flash drives and printers. Expensive, but worth it.

I love the capability of this. It makes it very convenient to connect older deviceS to the latest Macs with usb-c. My only complaint is that the Space Gray doesn’t match the exact color of the MacBook. Not a deal breaker but it would be much nice to be seamless with the computer.

Only reason it’s not a five star is because I think apple should still have these ports standard but over all it works good

    A MacBook Pro must have!

If you purchase the MacBook Pro with the newer USB-c ports, this is “a must have” accessory! It has it all! For instance, 2 regular USBs, HDMI, lightning ports, and SD card slot. Our digital pen tablet with DVI-D to HDMI connects perfectly to achieve the optimum resolution. Charge you phone simultaneously as you work on your laptop or other attached monitors/products. It’s an “all-in-one” solution versus buying multiple adaptor cords. Again,...if you buy one of the new MacBook Pros, this is a “must have!”

Purchased a week ago with a 13” MacBook Pro, and it is an essential accessory for the new limited portal laptop. Fits securely and has none of the connection problems I’ve read about in other reviews. I’m pleased so far.

The thunderbolt 3 port on the hub does charge the MacBook Pro. The only downside is that USB 2.0 fit very tightly in the 3.0 port. It actually scratched my USB. It is usable but just a tight fit. Can't use the hub with a standard MacBook Pro case for the bottom. The hub need to be in fully to work so the case is blocking the hub.

Great dongle, just don’t bother with a case

I really like the look of this, but there are some flaws. For one, if you own a case for your Mac and it has to go over it, good luck. You’ll need to modify the case cuz the entire dongle has to sit against the chassis for it to operate properly. My case just barely went under it and I couldn’t get this to make contact with the ports. Also, I can’t tell you the amount of times I pulled it out accidentally while trying to disconnect a USB device. It’s not an issue when you only have one device connected and it’s the device you’re trying to disconnect, but play your cards right if you have two devices connected and you try to pull a flash drive out of this thing. Again, build quality is great, looks amazing, and it works, but it’s just not very practical.

Did a lot of research before getting this hub. Needed it to expand the usb c ports to - usb, card readers, hdmi, and usb c. It clicks in firmly against the computer, but use the supplied vinyl carry pouch underneath for additional stability. I can leave it attached when powering up or down or attach after laptop is running. Connections are stiff at first but loosen with use. No issues with this device so far and working as hoped.

This product is a little pricey, but when you need extra ports like HDMI or USB, it comes in handy. It comes with a little leather carrying pouch too which is pretty nice to store in a laptop bag. All in all, this product is great. I just wish it had an ethernet port as well. That's the only reason I rated 4 stars instead of 5.

Great build and idea. Matches your space grey MacBook perfectly in color and in design. Has all the essentials at the fastest read and write speeds available at the time this review was written. But buyer beware, the USB ports are TIGHT. I have actually purchased, exchanged, and re purchased this dongle and had the same outcome. Tried another dongle from another manufacturer and it didn't even fit the USB-C ports on the 15" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. The USB ports broke a presenter remote receiver just before a presentation I have - disaster. I thought I had a defective product, but the replacement did the same thing and broke a USB-Micro SD card adapter. I suggest after purchasing, taking a worthless USB device and repeatedly inserting and removing, until it is somewhat loosened and broken in. But make sure to have some nose head pliers nearby - you will need them.

This is a great product but if you buy the 2018 MacBook Pro expect this to not fit well until it breaks in and loosens up. At first I couldn’t get the thing to stay in because it wouldn’t click in all the way, but after a few dozen times it finally loosened up and started to click in all the way.
