The blinking keyboard lights are very annoying. If I turn of the blinking the lights go out and I can't read the keyboard.

Best keyboard on a budget. The keys feel great, It's not as loud as a mechanical keyboard and I could definitely hear the difference from my old keyboard. There are many different color options, including the ability to turn the brightness off, 50%, or 100%. It's bright enough for me to clearly see the keys in a dim room. Colorwise, you can choose from the solid colors green, cyan, blue, purple, pink, white, red, orange, and yellow. You can also customize the zone colors (each zone is a color specified by you). There's even an option to let the color breathe and it goes through all of them in a smooth motion. The media keys allow you to stop, play/pause, forward, and go backward. All of this is controlled by the buttons on the keyboard. No software is needed. The only complaint I have is that the spacebar is a bit thin. I have to position my thumb in a certain way so that it doesn't hit the edge, which is a minor inconvenience. Other than that, I highly recommend it. For the price, it's an excellent keyboard.

Nice backlit keyboard for a good price

Overall, I'm pretty pleased with this keyboard. It has a nice amount of key travel and its pretty quiet. It's very similar to a cross between a mechanical keyboard (which is really loud) and a low profile membrane keyboard (which can be annoying to type on). It's a very sturdy keyboard that's much heavier than I expected it to be. It won't shift around your desk without a decent amount of force. My primary reason for getting the keyboard was to having something that's backlit to make it easier to see in the dark or low light. It accomplished that task with three brightness settings (off, 50%, 100%) and a wide selection of colors. In the static mode, there are five separate zones that can each be set to one of nine colors. I personally just used the solid color. The LED control is all in the hardware, so no special software is needed. This might be a negative for people that want to customize their keyboard from the computer, but for me, it's fine. The reason I dinged it a star were because of a few little things I didn't like. * Without the light on, you basically cannot see the keys at all with its design. The transparent portion that shows the letters blends in very closely to the black keys. When you are looking at the keyboard at an angle versus straight down, the backlight doesn't shine through cleanly, thus making some of the letters look a little weird. * The keys with multiple characters (where you use shift) have the characters side-by-side instead of the traditional vertical layout. It slows down your ability to find some of the keys quickly, especially when looking at an angle * Not an issue, but something else to note: the white is not really white at all. It's that "LED blue" color that's commonly found on Christmas lights.

Sturdy solid backlit keyboard PERFECT for dim room

My PC in my home office is located on a large corner desk. The electric lighting in the room is from a fan on the ceiling and a lamp by a reading chair. There is no good place for a lamp on the desk. I've been using the keyboard that came with my Dell PC. That keyboard suits my needs when working at my desk in the daytime since I can see the keyboard adequately with daylight from the windows. But in the evening and at night it is very difficult to see the keys. This backlit keyboard provided me with the perfect solution. Also during the day, I can see the keys better than before. I set the lighting to "solid" and set the color to white (for me white gives the best visibility among the 9 colors offered). The keyboard has a key to turn the backlighting on with medium brightness, full brightness, and to turn the lights off when not in use. For me, medium is just right whereas my wife prefers the brighter setting. The visibility of the lighted keys is great day or night. The keys have a very nice feel and are quiet. I'm using a UBS2 connection and have no whining noise as some who used UBS3 have reported. The keyboard is substantial, sturdy, and well made. I could not be more pleased. There are many backlit keyboards out there, but after researching the capabilities and reading reviews, the HyperX (owned by HP) was my overwhelming favorite choice. Many of the competitors -- most from companies that I've never heard of -- seemed to have flimsy builds, keys that stuck, keys that stopped working, keys where the coating wore off, lighting that was uneven and diminished over time, and other flaws. I highly recommend the HyperX. Since I am not a gamer, I cannot comment on its suitability for gaming, although the vast majority of reviewers give it five stars.

    Great All Around Keyboard

I recently got a new desktop computer coming from a laptop, and hated the keyboard that came with the computer. I'm a fast typer, and I'm very picky about keyboards, so I was happy I was able to try this in the store before purchasing. The keys are relatively quiet and are very responsive. The colors are bright, and you can even change how bright you want them to be. Overall I'm very happy with this, as it works for school and gaming.

Beautiful, but could be better for low-vision user

I was looking for a lighted keyboard to help me with my fading vision. I like the customizable lighting feature very much. I love the standard layout of the full-size keyboard: nothing to learn anew. But they're missing an opportunity to really serve the senior citizens and others with low vision: the letters, numbers, and symbols should be as large as possible to fit on the keys. When I'm able to touch type, I don't need the lighted keyboard at all; when I'm struggling and need to check what I'm typing, I need the symbols LARGE. On the other hand, if the manufacturer does offer such a keyboard, and Best Buy doesn't offer it, then Best Buy is missing an opportunity to serve their senior customers.
