    It works as a microphone

The Hyper X Solo Cast 2 is a USB-C wired microphone that does what it was made to do. The software is able to assist a little bit with background noise to help mitigate any unwanted sounds from being picked up. The pops from 'P' and 'T' are picked up due to not having a foam filter of some type. You may want to look into adding a filter for that. The software for the HyperX like mentioned before does the job. It is not over the top or fancy and you probably won't need to use a 3rd party unless you have your content creation reasons. I like the LED light and over all design of the SoloCast 2 by HyperX. The materials are solid. It does not feel cheap and plastic. I took this mic into discord and asked others about my voice quality. No one complained. There were a few compliments compared to some other microphones I have used in the past. It is best to use this in a room that is able to dampen audio a little. If you use it in a empty room it will be noticable as with most mic on the market.

As someone that's an avid gamer also someone that uses discord my firends in game have told me how much clearer I sound with this mic. I have used a yeti for so long and have had a lot of issues with it such as the sound quality but thats a different story for a later time lol. In my opinion the HyperX is by far the best mic for any gamer or pod casterr without having to download any software for it that I know of. It's lite weight and sounds great, it has a tap to mute sensor on top of it, tilts away from you to where it looks like a broadcast mic from a studio a red light to show when your sending sound and can be mounted on an arm. Also comes in a cloth bag which can be used as a cover when not in use to keep the dust off of it. That's the pros on it. The cons on this mic are the way it tilts but that's just me, not being able to adjust anything except for when your either in Discord doing a pod cast in a studio or streaming. That's it in a nut shell so to speak. This is a 100% aget it for the casual gamer or for someone thats a hardcore gamer in my books

They've been making excellent Drivers & products for a long time, and I know why. It doesn't look like it comes with any complex software extras like noise filters, but the microphone's speed, clarity, and accuracy more than make up for that. It worked perfectly when I connected it to Windows 11. Then I connected it to Windows 10, and it worked just fine. To my surprise, I was able to use PC joysticks by connecting them to an old Amiga with a special RJ45 to USB converter. It worked well in both the early AI interface and gameplay when available. So the fact that it is both simple and varied adds an extra value that is very useful. I did play some games, but they weren't the newest virtual reality action games because I haven't played one in decades. Instead, they were strategy games like flight and military simulations. It's a gaming microphone, as the name suggests, but it doesn't come with any software to block out noise. Instead, it makes a piece of hardware that needs to have it built in because the way it's built cancels out background noise very well. It worked out really well in a game i use to play. I say move A6 to position J6 in mode "opportunity fire," "lay smoke" at A6, "hull down" at J6, and "button up." Artillery fire, tank sounds, and machine gun sounds in the background did not mess up the order.

I am by no means a professional audiophile, but I am always looking for a nice microphone for recording voiceover presentations that does not take up a lot of space on my desk. To quickly summarize, I really like this microphone. The size is just about perfect. Unlike another microphone I have that just seems huge by comparison, this HyperX microphone can be placed almost anywhere without being too intrusive. The microphone features a built-in shock mount and pop filter. It is also a cardioid microphone that does very well with picking up sounds that are in front of it while excluding reflected sounds from the rear. I also like that the red LED is on when recording and off entirely when the microphone is muted. (I have seen some microphones where the LED indicator is used to indicate when it is muted as opposed to when it is recording, which is counterintuitive for me. Luckily, not a problem with this microphone. Red means recording, as it should.) Additionally, the microphone can screw onto a boom arm for additional flexibility. With the positives in mind, there are a few minor annoyances that impacted my rating. First, the USB cable that is packaged with the microphone is a USB-C to USB-A. USB-C really is a standard port on computers and laptops now, so this decision surprised me. To go a step further, my laptop does not have a single USB-A port on it; they are all USB-C. I think it would have made sense to include a USB-C cable or, if there was a big desire to accommodate USB-A ports, include an adapter (or a second USB-C to USB-C cable). The other criticism I have is that the microphone is marketed as supporting an adjustable audio filter through the HyperX NGENUITY software. What the box fails to mention, however, is that software works only on a Windows-based PC. Mac and Linux users need not apply. Is that a big deal? Maybe not as there are other tools that can be used to modify recorded audio, but it does reduce the utility of the self-contained microphone by not running on Mac/Linux. With all that being said, those shortcomings are relatively minor and, personally, I found the benefits of the microphone's quality and form factor to outweigh those annoyances. Until I find something better and more convenient, this is now my go-to microphone for my audio production work.

I think the weirdest thing for me with this mic is that the Red light means it isn’t muted, that gets me every time I use the mic for the first time because it is the opposite of every other mic out there. When you plug it in there are a few different options for recording but if you want more customization for the recording type you really want to download the app easily manipulate the quality level you are trying to record or stream with. It is really nice being able to just talk without headphones and the mic is able to pic up my voice and record it clearly and isolate it from what I am playing from the speakers. This is nice for both gaming and just chatting as it just feels more natural without headphones on. I love the design of the microphone, the small but heavy bottom that lets it just rest on the desk but not be tipsy at the same time is really well done and the ability to tilt it as well is just executed perfectly in what I want. Overall, this delivers the ability for people to hear me clearly, is extremely easy to use, and has an excellent design.

I’m not sure how my son manages to go through so many mics for his setup. It was time to look at getting him a new mic when this popped-up. We have a bunch of other gear from HyperX so knew this would be a great addition. We were not disappointed. Setup was as easy as you can imagine for a mic. Once everything was setup I was curious to see if this mic would do a good job in seperating the voice from background noise/game. I am happy to report that the gamers/friends on the other end can only hear your voice. You don’t have to worry about game noise or the clacking of keys being an issue to your team. That's great since we tend to crank the volume on some of our gaming sessions. I really like that the mic supports being installed on stand or arm. That is going to be the next thing we add to my son’s setup. HyperX deliveres again. A great mic that blocks background noise and keeps your voice in the forefront. Very easy setup and adapatable to a stand/arm. This is an easy recommendation.

So I really like this mic. I find myself recording logs instead of writing them because of this mic. The Solocast 2 is really easy to use. It has a rubber base to keep it from sliding and the built in pop filter, internal shock mount and adjustable stand are a nice touch. They work very well. For a budget minded mic you can't go wrong with picking up one of these. The app that comes with a app called Ngenuity that works great on Windows but nothing for the Mac yet. The DSP features are easy to use. So if you have a Mac you're going to need a Windows environment to actually set it up. Now when talking about the mounting, well it is interesting. If you are using this mic on your desk and actually using your keyboard you'll still hear the keys in the background. I thought it was my janking home made desk so I tried it on a different desk and still could hear vibration of hitting keys in the recording. I would definitely recommend adjusting the mic using the software to tweak it to your liking. The noise filters are a blessing so definitely use it. For a budget mic this is a winner. I would recommend picking one up.
