With I Am Legend, the Alternate Cut of the film is the only way to go. This cut is oonly available on the Two-Disc edition, which is really unfortunate because it means that most people won't see it, but the alternate ending which is presented in that version is the good one. The ending of the theatrical version all but ruined the movie for me when I saw it in theaters, and the alternate version, with its more thematic ending is the reason why I went ahead and bought this movie. It's the story of Robert Neville, the only survivor of a viral pandemic that killed nearly everyone on the planet and turned a few survivors into zombies (as opposed to vampires, like in the original novel). The first hour of the movie iis pretty much genius, and the secoond half is decent. If you buy this movie, you have to get the Two-Disc.

I watched the movie in the theaters and read the book, the movie is way better, different story so you cant really compare, back to the review, will smith does a great job, the theater version had some missing details to the story but had a great ending, the alternate version of the movie had detail to the movie, but had an awful ending (im guessing for a sequel). Watch the theater version first and then watch the alternate version...itll make more sense. Animals were to CGI except for SAM who was real, some of the zombies/vampires were too...but it will still make you jump... Overall a good movie...no need for a sequel...

Will Smith did a spectactular job in this movie as the last man alive in New York City, ground-zero for the launch of a virus that transformed the majority of man-kind into super-aggressive nocturnal cannabalistic creatures. The relationship between himself and his dog is heartwarming, but for the most part there is a strong sense of anticipation about this film. Just about every second of the way you're expecting these monsters to jump out from around any darkened room, making the experience that much more intense. Once you add bluray quality to the suspense, you suddenly have a recipe for a great movie.

This movie was incredible! Will Smith was fantastic in every aspect of the word. The plot made you think that with all the manipulation that goes on and all of the new drugs and cures that are coming out something like this could eventually happen. It was refreshing to see the "zombies" in this movie weren't all stupid and slow, and that returning to baser insticts doesn't neccisarily mean losing all their inteligence. Again Will Smith was absolutly amazing especially since he holds almost the entire movie himself. I Am Legend has become one of my favorite movies.

This is a fine sci-fi horror film, with Will Smith carrying the show on his broad, tallented shoulders. It really bares no resemblence to Richard Matheson's original novel, other than a general virus taking out the whole population of earth, however, if you don't expect that connection, you won't be disappointed that it's not there. I do wish they had offered the "controversial ending" as a seperate disc, because I prefer that ending, and will probably never watch the theatrical ending again. The so-called "controversial ending" is tagged as such because of it's references to God and faith or hope for a future for mankind. Yet, that ending made more sense, and was more satisfying a conclusion. Good movie, good performances.

Great movie that was made even greater by watching it on my new 42' LED HDTV which made it look like I was there behind the camera as they filmed Wil Smith. Was an amazing feeling to see how clear a movie can look and how great it feels watching something that crisp. The negative is that some of the effects kind of stand out as effects with the visual quality being so high. You don't notice it as much on a standard TV but you definitely will spot a slight difference if your watching on a LED HDTV.

I Am Legend was marketed as another apocalyptic action movie with Will Smith like Independence Day and I, Robot, but it was more of a character study. Actually, the movie tried to be both and it almost succeeded. It's very enjoyable, keeps you interested, and there are some great edge-of-your-seat moments. The only thing I didn't care for were the CGI monsters, they looked exactly like the robot models in I, Robot. I thought I was looking at the same movie with a different backdrop. I don't know why WB let that happen, but it was weird. That and I wanted more story with my sci-fi, it seemed lacking a bit. Another 30-45 mins of this movie and it could've been an epic.

This movie is an action-packed MUST SEE! Will Smith does an amazing job playing the last man on earth. His relationship with his dog and store manequins is charming. This movie has character and heart. It is a nail biter that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The flash back sequences provide some history for the main character, but depth could be added by providing a little more history about the cure that killed mankind. Other than that, this movie is highly entertaining and lively.

This movie was so Awesome!! Will Smith gives an awesome proformance! It was slightly slow moving at first, I was almost getting bored, but when you see more of the hemocytes or darseekers you gain the interest back. There were some really good suspense parts, but I won't give anything away. The weird thing about it was the alternate ending.... I'll just say -thank goodness they did not use that one in theaters! Overall; theatrical version was really good with awesome acting.

If I had to give only one reason to watch this movie it would be because of Will Smith. The fact that he is on screen basically by himself for most of the movie makes his performance even better. The first 2/3 of this movie is really great, but the last third leaves something to be desired in my opinion. Despite that, I Am Legend is a freaky movie that draws you into film, making you feel the solitude and loneliness of Will Smith's character.

If you are looking for a good balance of action, thriller, and horror, with a little comedy, this is a great find. This movie has a great story line, which was not recently written but comes from a long line of remakes. (got it right this time!) The movie was a bit on the short side and could have been made a bit longer. The never before released alternate cut was good however the theatrical version was better.

I saw this the same day i went to go see AVPR with my bud and we both loved these movies. It was a great awesome but went to go see it to think of it as an incredible/ amazing movie but i still liked it. I don't plan on buying a lot of movies but I Am Legend is a definate must. I will get the 2-disc special edition or on blu-ray since i might get a blu-ray player. The only thing i didn't like was the ending and what happens to Sam the dog. Otherwise I would totally love this movie, but take my word for it, it was great.

this was a great movie and went along the lines of things in real life as if this could happen. even though it was set in the future it seemed like it wasnt really set in the far future but it was set in the upcoming future. i ilked how it had the alternante ending it made the movie even better because you would get to see the opposite of the real ending. i hope this would not happen in real life.

This was a great movie to watch, especially if you have surround sound. There are a lot of quiet scene witch set the tone for someone jumping at the sudden sound of something jumping out at you in the movie giving you a scare. This is amplified even more the bigger or louder your speakers are. The storyline is good too if you haven't seen it already. There is also an alternate ending that is different from when I saw it at the movie theater. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes sci-fi/horror movie.

This movie was absolutely incredible. I actually felt really sad when Sam died. Even though it is just a movie, it really showed how much Sam and Will Smith were connected in the movie. Will Smith is my all time favorite actor and he showed it in this movie. One of the best performances I've seen from him yet. Great movie, special edition is ok, not much, but not bad for 5 bucks extra.

This is a great movie with lots of action. If you are looking for something with lots of action and suspense then this is the movie for you. The story line is amazing and the blu ray really brings the movie to life. If you are watching this on a high definition tv then you will feel like you are actually in the movie. I am definitely getting my money's worth out of this purchase!!

I saw this movie in the theaters and liked it. Then I watched it on blu-ray and loved it. There are some parts of the movie that were kind of scary but not really. If you're looking for a scary zombie movie, this is not the one. I loved the suspense and Will Smiths acting was good. The plot was good too and the movie from start to finish was thrilling. Overall great movie.

"I Am Legend" is a great film and I believe it was perfectly adapted from the book written by Richard Matheson. Although the story in the film was a bit different from the book, what was presented in the movie worked well. Again Will Smith doesn't fail to give a superb performance. Overall, "I Am Legend" was amazing and I recommend you pick up a copy.

I loved the movie when I went to see it in theaters. I just hated the ending, but with this alt ending, there is hope for a better ending. All my friends hated the original ending. Looks like the makers didn't like it after seeing what people thought and made a new one. I hopes it is better. From the end chatpers, it looks like it is much better.

This film is a re-make of a 70's film called The Omega Man with Charleston Heston. I just felt the infected in that movie were more natural as they were actual human beings, whereas, here they were animated, which took away from the movie. I'm not condemning this remake, it was pretty creepy at times which kept my interest. They should have used real humans done up with make-up to show the actual affects of the infection.
