Incorrect information on install
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very disappointed with this service. First I started with talking with someone in the store about getting a stereo installed in my car. They specifically told me that I can get a Double DIN radio installed in my car. Later that week, I went on the Best Buy website and the website also confirmed that I can get a Double DIN radio installed in my car. So I bought the Double DIN radio and the Geek Squad install service. The day came for my install and I went to the store with my radio. The install tech went to my car, looked inside, went back to his computer, and then told me "I'm sorry, you can't install that in your car." I was like "Why not?" He then proceed to tell me that my car does not support Double DIN radio, only single DIN, plus I had to buy additional cables and brackets that was not mentioned by the store representative, nor the Best Buy website. He then told me that they didn't have the bracket in stock and that I had to go online, to a third party company, and buy the bracket and bring it in. What's the point of me buying an install service if I still have to buy all the parts for the install from an outside vendor? He then gave me a printed copy of the part I needed to buy and said to give him a call when I got it so that I could set up a new appointment. That was a waste of 15 that I could have avoided if someone told me all of this earlier. To make a long story short, I ended up going to a local car installer who not only confirm that they COULD install my Double DIN radio, but supply all the parts that was necessary to get it installed. They also were able the get it installed the same week I went to the store to ask about the service. I will NEVER go to Best Buy again for an install service. The only good thing was I was able to get a refund for the install service that never happened.

Mixed reviews.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a gift for teenage daughter, so I wasn't present when install was done. Nice job on installing car stereo. Speaker for hands free option was placed in storage opening below radio; clearly the easiest option and also the option that will guarantee it will only be so long before it breaks. Also, anticipated there to be additional costs, such as wiring harness, just didn't expect those total costs to be more than the $65 it cost for the actual install. Thinking Best Buy sales associates could do a better job letting you know before hand what those costs might be.

Good for a first time installed cd player.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first cd player being installed in my car from my factory cd player. It looks nce and had agood sale price at the time of purchase. However, the radio will NOT come off when I press the release button. Sometimes the CD player won't take the CD's in. The speakerphone for the bluetooth must have an echo or extra loud noise for the people I'm talking too because they always say something about it. (I don't hear it though...) The ipod won't play with the Ipod charger like we were told either... The bluetooth music works well though. If these things could be fixed, everything else would make it a really nice radio.

Poor placement choices by technician
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Considering it was free installation, I am thankful that I am not out anything financially. Didn’t show any features or how to operate radio after was installed. Mounted the microphone behind the dash, yes behind the dash, therefore couldn’t use the radio as a Bluetooth hands free for calls until I redid where microphone was mounted. Very disappointed.

install was uneventful, which is good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The install went well, and was completed in the time frame they advertised. There are not a lot of places around here where they install car stereos, so I didn't have much of a choice.

friendly but set too far into dash
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.installation was done in good time-- but I must return to the store and have the radio reset-- it is inset about 1/4 inch from where it should sit flush. Service techs were friendly and competent.

Not my best experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had a wonderful experience with a previous install for a car stereo for my boyfriend's birthday so I decided to get my stereo upgraded as well. Scheduled install, gave specs and equipment I would need. I showed up and installer who took initial call told me he didn't have a kit and it would have to be ordered. Rescheduled me. Never called when part came in, I called to schedule again. Came day of appointment and they double booked. Same installer, same unapologetic nature. Fit me in with help from awesome supervisor and staff member. Service is hit or miss, not sure if I would recommend.

Waited too long for install
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The install tech was great but it was impossible for him to do his job when he had to continuously stop and answer the phone or help a customer. They need two people in the install department.

Disappointed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was greatly disappointed with the install process of my new stereo. First off I was not informed of additional items I would need that had to be ordered from the dealer so that put my install back a week. Also, after the install my bluetooth did not work properly. The tech was not overly knowledgeable but nice, but I was still not satisfied this time around with my install and this was my 4th. With this experience I am inclined to not return to Bestbuy for future installs.

Geek Squad failed install or follow up help
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a stereo from best buy, and the geek squad installed it. I already had an amp and subwoofers that had worked before the new system. After installation, my subwoofers can barely be heard and my vehicle battery drains and will not start any time that the stereo is not taken out. I went back to the geek squad with my issues. They took a look and said they did not know what the issue was and that they saw no problems. The battery died on them while they were looking at it. After testing the battery itself, they told me that the battery seemed fine and was able to hold a charge. However, by then it was 5 minutes past closing time, so they concluded that it must be my vehicle and that I needed to get a new battery. I was told to try keeping out the fuse that controlled the stereo when the vehicle was not in use. Magically, that kept the battery from dying. However, I never got so much as a follow up call to see if this resolved the issue or not. Needless to say, I will not be going back to the geek squad, and will need to find another stereo installation business to try to fix what was ruined so that I am able to actually drive my vehicle while listening to the stereo.

worst service ever
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to bestbuy geeksquad for a quote on a deck install in my car. I was told it would cost me $120+$40. I was fine with it. On the day of my installation, I was called to come in early. I came in and the guy was in a very bad mood. He took a look at my car and told me the quote i was given was wrong and charged me $250. I was fine because i wasn't in the mood to argue. He then called me back and said for an extra $60, he'd hook the stereo to my steering wheel. I obliged. Needless to say, he did a bad job. My volume can't go above 15 without making a screeching noise and he didn't connect it to my steering wheel. He left a mess of cut wires in my car without vacumming and cleaning the area as stipulated in the contract and he didn't install my dash correctly. When i confronted him, he said he couldn't do anything about it because he had another appointment. He said I would have to come in another day and pay an extra $150. I called the manager, Brad Bell, he yelled and hung up the phone. I called Bestbuy corporate, they apologized and said it won't happen again. No Refund and didn't even attempt to fix my deck install in my car. I don't recommend. Save your money and go somewhere with more polite people

Sales didn't talk to install
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Spoke with sales person and a manager about radio install on our son's 2000 VW beetle. Paid for and scheduled the install. When were arrived for the instaltion appointment the installer went on and on and on about how the sales staff didn't know anything about installs and how difficult this install was. It is not the customer's responsibility to coordinate between the 2 departments or deal with this confusion. We just want the radio installed like we paid for on the radio we got our son for Christmas.

Installation only good for radio!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The installation was only good for the radio. The parts and labor to install the radio and 4 speakers was $413! Therefore installation of the radio and 4 speakers with installation parts was almost $500! The radio, 4 speakers and radio installation was cost about $200. Total was over $600 when all was said and done. Product cost is good cost to install product that very expensive.

Do they know what an appointment is?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.So... I had an appointment at 5:15. I arrived early so I could check in. I parked by the instillation bay and walked to the door. The door had a sign that said "Please see associate inside the store" So here I go, into the store. I wait 10 minutes to find someone competent enough to tell me to go BACK to that door and knock on it.. Why not post that you need to knock on the door at the instillation bay? So I walk back, around the whole store to the door, I knocked on it. Some guy answers and asks me if I need to have something Installed. No, I need a physical... So they let me in. I wait 5 minutes to only be told to hang on and wait another 10 minutes. No another guy comes and "helps" me out. He asks my name, and if I had the appointment for 5:15, which at this point it's not 5:15 anymore.. He goes on the computer only to tell me that I had to wait another 2 1/2 to 3 hours to get my radio installed. I walked right out, I didn't need to reschedule because obviously you don't even know what an appointment is in the first place. I drove home 45 minutes and went to Car Toys instead. had it installed within an hour. I'll never use Best Buy/Geek Squad to install any car radio or accessories that require instillation ever again.
