Geeks that don't know what they're doing!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this gift for my husband as a Christmas present. $60 for install wasn't bad so I decided to go ahead and purchase the install as well, even though I have a had a bad experience with the "Geek Squad" before. I wasn't able to go with my husband at the time of install but I have him all the paperwork and he have it to the installers. Twenty minutes into the appointment we both get calls saying the install is complete. Then a return call stating they called the wrong person. Not a big deal. Then it comes time for checkout. They charged us AGAIN for the install when we clearly already paid for it. Even in the online appointment it states that I have prepaid for the install. Luckily we got our money refunded.

Installer brain dead
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a Sony cd installed in my Celica and only the midrange sp eakers were connected. The car as tweeters in the window, midrange in the dash, and woofers in the doors. I was told I would need to add an amplifier to power the tweeters and woofers. To my dismay the cost to install the amp and connect the tweeter and woofers was $524. I get to the installer and he states I need labor and wiring harness for an additional $90, so over $600 to connect to 4 speakers. I go for a walk and get a call from the installer. He states that in order to get the tweeters and woofers to work I will need to pick a pair of speakers to give up because of power limitations. I told him to give up the rear speakers and ensure the tweeters and woofers would work since not many people get in the back seats. When I come to pick up the car nothing had changed. The front and rear midranges were the only speakers that worked. Why on earth would anyone pay over $600 to add an amplifier when the existing deck powered those speakers fine. Just total disregard for me specifically stating the tweeters and woofers were the most important speakers to power, that was the entire reason I purchased the amplifier. A total waste of my time and I have to wait over 3 weeks for the installer to uninstall the amp so I can start where I originally brought the car in.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. There is little as aggravating as spending the time, effort, and money to have a service completed and ending up nowhere for the investment. Certainly what you've described does not live up to our aspiration of providing a superior experience and we apologize for your having to cope with such circumstances. They Cancelled Install 3 hrs Prior to Appointment
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ordered the radio, cables, and antenna converter. They did not have the dash kit available so I ordered the exact same kit online. Set up the free installation for two weeks out. I received a call 3 hrs prior to the installation from a technician who stated that since the car had Ford Sync they could not install a radio. According to him, an after market radio would not work. He said he contacted one of their upper level technicians who confirmed this. He also said that with the dash kits being so flimsy that there was the possibility of it cracking. I cancelled my order and appointment and then went online to Crutchfield. Ordered the radio, wiring harness (which included steering wheel access) antenna converter and dash kit. I also had then pre-wire the new harness. It still came out $80 cheaper even with the steering wheel control converter assembly and harness wiring. Basically was a plug and play installation, everything snapped into place. Dash kit looks great, radio works fine and steering wheel controls operate as they should. Sorry Best Buy, you've lost a customer for life and I will not recommend you to anyone.

Took way too long
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was fairly simple install, scheduled for 1 hr, but it took nearly 3 hrs. The tech said he was having a hard time getting the trim kit to stay in place. I was told if it popped out again for me to bring it back. It did pop off the next day and I pulled it off to see what might be the problem, I found that he had used foam sticky tape to get it to stick. I removed the thick foam and put it back and it popped in and stayed in place. I have no idea why he used the tape and why it took 3 hrs.

Never Again
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought that it would take less time for Best Buy to install some simple retro-fitted car audio than it would take me to install it but I was wrong. If you're just starting to work on a car 90 minutes after the appointment time, then something is terribly wrong with your organization. I left the installation having no confidence in their work. Two specific gripes: (1) they didn't even bother to set the clock on the new device to the correct local time, & (2) there was a remote control for the new receiver that was still in the box - I would have never thought to look in the box for a remote - it would have been thrown away if I hadn't dismantled the box for recycling (you'd think they would have removed the remote to install the battery and test it). Interactions like this one are why I would never trust Geek Squad for computer matters. If Best Buy can't mount and wire the cheapest car stereo they sell, then I surely won't trust them for computer matters.

Installation did not happen
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I left a review on another page and then saw this page that directly spoke to the installation. I bought a radio for my son on November 18 and was given an appointment date of 12/16/2018 at 11AM. This seemed like a long time but I bought the radio from your store for the professional installation and was willing to wait. When we took the vehicle in the Geek Squad had no technician available to complete the installation and no one contacted me to reschedule. I was told the next available appointment would be in January. TWO months after I purchased the radio, UNACCEPTABLE!! My son, a high school student, took off work for this installation. A complete waste of time for both of us and it cost him lost wages. As I said I bought this product for the professional installation but this encounter was anything but professional!

Dont do it here! You may serioursly regret it!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I know buying a stereo with free installation is awesome but you get what you pay for. I admit the techs were very nice but not qualified enough, at the end of the day I ended up with more problems than resolved, wasted 3 weekends in a row for them not to resolved anything and my car being worse than before. Had a head unit and front speakers installed, everything seemed ok but before I got home the sound stopped working. Went back 3 times for them to figure out and no results, ended up putting back the original car stereo that worked before, thdy blammed it on the car and that was it. A couple of days later all my climate controls died, also never an issue before. So now I have to take my car somewhere else to fix all the things that worked before they touched my car. Big corps they dont care about the customers

Car sound system and install debacles
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My install (all 3 trips before I was so fed up I said good enough and cut my losses. First they talked me into a smaller unit (easier install). I wanted larger DIN2 because of me eyesight. I purchased the amplifier installation which included speakers On my third trip they told me it didn’t cover the second set of front speakers because the ones the BB install genie said would work didn’t I had to pay for install. They couldn’t find the install service on my account but it worked for the stereo and all of the remainder. On the day they said it was done, About 4months from the start of project, which was very difficult to. Get times scheduled for, like many weeks even when it was their mess up. I paid (again) and I pulled out to the parking to do some quality tests. On the rear speakers they had balance backward! Left was right and right was left. The simplest most basic function of any stereo is left and right. I have a vehicle where 2 speakers are one side and 1 is the other. Believe it or not it’s the same. WRONG
