Took a long time

confuse/ineffective/almost 2 months to install

Jack the guy that installed was a really helpful and understandable person, but the overall experience in store + service was very negative. First time: it was missing an extra equipment so I had to buy from other store and wait to be delivered (Best Buy didn't have available) second time: the person that checked my car LEFT by mistake a product that I didn't buy, so I had to leave work early to be able to return the item. third time: in the installment day he told me the product that I bought was missing a cable, (took an uber, waited 6 hours without the car, spent 60$ because the Best Buy was in a different city) and after all he didn't do the service cause I had to go to a different best buy to ask for a cable that was missing from by purchase. 4th time: had to take an uber again and to leave the car for the whole day. but after all it took less than one hour for the service. in general the experience was very confuse, I would like to get reimbursed for the geek squad service because I'm definitely will not use it anymore, and don't recommend as well.

Half finish install

I understand that he didn’t have all of the info to install the product and decided to not finish it because he didn’t want to crash the whole electrical system but in the end. The manufacturer wasn’t any help either, but it is still half installed and so i am out 300+ On the system. I only wish he could have done a dry run b4 installing it.

Problems, but most likely with just the unit I had

The phone display uses the whole radio screen which is great for gps and back up cameras. Unfortunately, the one installed in my car took a while to connect each time I plugged the USB connection into my phone if it would connect at all for the Android Auto. It also loses connection after a few minutes so this unit proved unreliable and it being returned for repair.

Best Buy - Worst Service
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I literally only buy things (car stereo this time) from Best Buy because they do free install. The install always takes at least a month to get an appointment and the there is only about a 20% that they will actually keep the appointment. There is ALWAYS an issue... Installer is on vacation or sick or quit or overwhelmed or abducted by aliens or bitten by a zombie... I have heard every excuse possible for them to cancel the appointment. Then they always say that the install department is "not really" part of the Geek Squad. The manager always tries to blame the corporate office... Hear is a clue: The customer does not care who Best Buy wants to pin the blame on... It is Best Buys fault period! Most of my reviews are NEVER posted by Best Buy because they don't want to take a hit for the bad review (which I will be sure to give on an independent website). Some how my reviews seem to always break their rules (the main one they use is the "review is overly critical"...lol)

Geek Squad let me down

Furthermore, the product (purchased through them) was a poor one, and either was defective or installed improperly

Best Buy Installation - Resistors

The last one Corporate confirmed. After sending emails to the installer Christian. Without a response. Still have not had the radio installed. Have had to by a Alpine amplifier. Have been turned away from the Kildeer Illinois store. Was told I now have to go to Northbrook or Schaumburg Illinois store to finish my installation. The Kildeer Illinois store is no longer taking on booking. Something the Manager Dillan or Installer Christian could not explain. I get it. Your Geek Squad wanted me to go elsewhere. I asked to be scheduled in Schaumburg for August on a Saturday. Customer Service Manager "Dillan" said he would take care of it. Still have not received any confirmation from the Customer Service Manager "Dillan". I still do not know how "Dillan" received his title of Customer Service Manager. This must be a mistake. I am thoroughly frustrated and an unhappy Longtime Best Buy Customer. Please have a Best Buy District Manager contact me to resolve these issues. Thank you, John English This situat

Terrible.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Scheduled appointment, went through the questionnaire concerning what kind of car I had, was told by the website it may cost extra for materials to install the radio, which was all fine. I leave work early to go to the appointment, which was two weeks after I scheduled it, I arrive at the appointment, and the don't have any of the parts they need to install it. Tech is apologetic. Then starts asking me all the questions I already answered in the online form. Quotes me $86 for parts, that he has to order, and reschedule my appointment. I'm told my 2009 Subaru needs a "specialized kit". I deny the parts, keep the appointment, order the parts myself at less than half the price they quoted me. Get them myself in two days when it somehow would have taken them another two weeks to get them. After arguing back and forth, they credited me the installation price - that's it. It was an ultimatum. No attempt to make me happy or fix the problem. Would not try to get me an early appointment. Couldn't have ordered the parts any early. Absolutely no caring or respect for my time at all. Horrible experience and I'll never get anything installed from them. Terrible.

Horrible experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.It was supposed to be a radio installation, I was first told the technician was not on site and my appointment made through my online purchase did not count. I decided to just pick up my order and leave and was told by customers service to speak to the manager to see what can be done and the same manager (Denford) that told me my appointment did not count then told me the technician is now on site. I was told to pull my car around to the mobile spot and have my radio installed. I pull in and show the technician Maurice the radio and dash kit and he says to me "you know you wont be able to use the steering wheel controls after today right ? " now I'm confused because I did my research and knew what I bought is compatible with my car 100% and I start letting him know that and that's when he is like oh yeah its compatible but you would need another appointment for that because I have someone after you. At that point I just decided to leave because that location is THE WORST. I will pay to have it installed because bestbuy could care less about customer satisfaction. The technician Maurice had every excuse as to why he didnt want to assist me and the Manager Denford couldn't even remember whether or not his staff was at work or not

Regret.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I paid in full the week prior to my appointment but when I showed up they couldn’t find the stereo. I was there almost two hours and ignored/avoided by the manager until someone basically forced her into a conservation. They offered to install something else but said they didn’t have anything near as nice as what I had purchased. I asked about the demo they had and was told absolutely not, keep in mind I had already paid full price and didn’t ask for any discount. She said I could reschedule and try again in a few weeks but I had zero faith in their competency after that and requested a refund. She did proceed to prove me right and couldn’t even get the refund correct and spoke to me like I was a child when I questioned the missing $120 item.

Could use improvement

Installed my radio

came in twice with no install

No communication between the store that sells the equipment, and the install bay that installs it. They set up an appointment, and when I came in for the install, they didn't have the parts necessary. After purchasing the parts, and setting up another appointment, I came in and they still needed me to purchase more parts, and set up a 3rd appointment. This would have been avoided if the install bay would communicate with the sales people exactly what is needed for the install of an item before they sell you a product, and start charging you more and more for parts. Horrible.

Not Happy

I scheduled a day for them to install a new radio for my 2015 VW Passat. Everything went well the first day except for the fact that they were not able to connect my backup camera to the new radio. They told me to come back in a few days so they could fix it. Also, during the first day they made my airbag light go on. We came back a few days later for them to fix the airbag light and to connect the back up camera. After waiting for an hour they could achieve neither. They told us that we would have to buy an additional part to make the backup camera work that cost 90 dollars. About the airbag light they told us to go to VW and bring the bill to them so they could refund us. I was okay with that because I don’t need a back up camera and I’m okay with fling to VW. But what really made me mad is that when I was driving home i realized that my steering wheel controls to the radio are no longer working. However they were working before I brought the car to them. Now I have to go back tomorrow for them to fix something that wasn’t broken before they worked on the car. It is a massive inconvenience because I live far away. I will say that the people are nice.
