When I saw this movie for the first time in the late 90s, I enjoyed it immensely. The explosions and thoughts of intelligent alien life made for quite the experience. I was 11 years old then. I'm a little older now, and my criteria has changed for what makes a film great. With that being said, I enjoyed it immensely. The explosions and thoughts of intelligent alien life made for quite the experience.... The actual acting was marginal, almost like a parody of the Independence Day I watched all those years ago. But the nostalgia of the good old days. It was a simpler time then...

Got this for the 4K transfer, I wasn't disappointed!

I've been a big fan of this movie and originally bought this many years ago on Laser Disc. I haven't watched this movie in forever and got a great deal on 4K. I watched this and quality for a 20 yr old is great. The 4K is definitely worth it if you are a fan of this movie. I also compared the quality of the 4K disc with the 4K digital copy - the disc is better! I'm glad to have the digital but will always watch on the physical disc.

I'm not going to lie. I love this movie! I love the story, the 2 dimensional characters, Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum's performances, the special effects and David Arnold's rousing musical score! Aliens invade, they attack us and we come together to kick their a**! And I love watching it happen again and again! This movie is FUN! I was happy to finally upgrade to Bluray so I could watch this on my HDTV. The image and sound are great! But where are all the extras from the 2-Disc DVD set? The extended cut and the cool special features (save for 2 commentary tracks, a trivia track and lame game) are missing! Well, for $8.00 it is a fair price for an almost bare-bones release. I just hope this film gets re-released with all the goodies it came with previously. So, if you are as big a fan of this movie as I am then get this High Def release! You won't regret it!

I bought this movie to complete my Will Smith conversions to Blu-ray, but this is such an entertaining movie, and if you have a surround sound system-- OMG! You can almost feel the ships landing. I am not as enthusiastic about the sequel, but it's not bad. This movie focuses on the relationships and the human element coping against the invasion. The aliens are not even seen until almost an hour in; the sequel is more focused on the aliens and the special effects. But, don't get me wrong-- the effects in the original are AWESOME!

I had the original release of this film on Blu-ray and the 4K release is truly worth the upgrade. The 4K release uses a new scan over the previous Blu-ray release and it clearly shows the improvement. The standard Blu-ray re-release also uses this new scan so if you only have a regular Blu-ray player, buy that one and not the old one

Movie: A wonderful romp that has aged surprisingly well. Don't over-analyze it, this is definitely not the movie for that. Just sit back and enjoy the fun! Disc: Solid 4K rendition...looks and sounds great. Along with all the Marvel offerings of course, this movie is why you invested in 4K gear in the first place. And it should be in your collection!

Here's the thing about 4K in case you didn't know already: as great as Blu-rays are, the 4K format makes you feel like you're part of the cinematic experience instead of merely just watching it. With its wider spectrum of color palette, contrast, and amazing depths, this alien blockbuster film looks even better than before, leaving the viewer wanting little to no more. The film itself is thoroughly enjoyable, but in 4K, it's well worth the upgrade if you already own the standard Blu-ray.

This is a classic, timeless and i find something i missed in the movie every time i watch it. If not for the Fresh Prince, this movie would have put Will Smith on everybody's radar. Who knew the guy can act. It's an all around favorite in my household. you have to que it every fourth of July. This movie brings in the summer. i also bought the movie for the steel case collector's edition.

The 1080p Blu-ray that has the same remastered source is already a great image, and this 4K doesn’t necessarily have much more detail, but the HDR definitely is the reason to upgrade, since it makes the colors pop so much more than Blu-ray can handle. The AQ is top notch, and it carries all the same features as the old Blu-ray. Highly recommended!

I've had this version of the films on DVD ever since I'd bought my first DVD player and have enjoyed the extended cut far more than the theatrical version. For the most part, I hate movie editors because this uncut version explains a lot...primarily, how David can hack into a centuries-advanced alien computer with a comparatively-primitive Apple laptop. Couple of funny scenes as well, and a little more interaction in family circles. This version is long past due on the blu ray format, where it belongs. Highly recommended.

This is a fantastic movie with plenty of character development for the aliens and humans. There is a reason and rational for the aggressive actions of the aliens as well as people who were depicted as human beings with emotional struggles. This was a very well told story about people uniting to perform the greatest act on behalf of humanity. The Blueray version of the movie really enhanced the visual and sound experiences for me. This is a classic movie that shows how creative Hollywood could be in telling a great story.

This movie has it all, action, drama, sci-fy and Patriotism. If you have not seen it yet it, put it on the bucket list. The 4K image is much better than my 1080P version, but I felt the DTS X lacked in sound separation and bass for some reason. I feel this movie would sound better in Atoms, so if you can find one in Atmos I would get that one.
