This is truly a great sci-fi classic showing ultimate unity of man triumphing over alien invaders. Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum form a comedic team handling what seemingly is a bleep situation and turn it into a victory for mankind. I still get goose bumps listening to Bill Pullman speech to rally the troops before flying off into the sky. This 20th anniversary edition has been given a beautiful steelbook treatment making a beautiful collection to a classic sci-fi flick.

Was originally going to get Independence Day on 4k as the transfer is supposed to be quite good, but this steelbook just looks so sharp and the price was right. Haven’t watched the disc yet, but the regular blu-ray also received high marks for its transfer. So if it is available at a good price, and you don’t need it on 4k, I’d recommend this steelbook.

I absolutely love this movie. Will Smith did a fantastic job and the story was just great. I am really happy they came out with this anniversary edition. This is one of those things that I didn't know I needed until I saw it, and I must say, I am so glad I got it. I would highly recommend purchasing it... unless you haven't seen it yet... Then I would recommend getting out from under the rock you have been living in, and then watching it... multiple times.

This is one of the best movies that helped Will Smith become the movie star people like in movies. The rest of the cast helped make this movie good. Although the creators also made Stargate, which I also like, unfortunately they have made movies as memorable as ID4 in years, this was one of their best. Buy it for the fun it is to watch.

ID4 was one of the biggest movies to hit when I was at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) and we all went to see it. Now, I have a copy on tape which is worn out and I was pleased to find a copy that was NOT previously viewed at Best Buy! On the long weekend of the 4th of July, I watched it and still felt the tingle and the thrill I did when I first saw it! When you can watch a movie like that and get that same thrill all over again, should you not add it to your collection?

Better than the sequel. Will smith is a great actor. The movie special effect is pretty good considering how old this movies is. It holds up pretty well. A lot of action and story is very enjoyable and acting is on point. Now that is in 4K you can even see more detail then before. Would recommend if you like a good classic to watch.

I bought Independence Day steelbook just because it's a collector's item. Independence Day is Like a revolving video game the action the drama is all well worth it. Starring Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, and a host of others. The big question with this is watching to see if man would survive. Also seeing cities like Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington DC all getting blown to bits. Which makes the CGI effects in this movie Outrageous. The artwork on the steelbook as fantastic it's well worth anybody's collection especially if you're familiar with steelbook collections.

When I first saw this movie in 1996 I was so impressed with it I saw it 3 more times. I enjoyed the story, the comedy, the special effects, the characters and the emotional music. It was very impressive for it's time and just like movies like Terminator 2, it stands up well even today. 20 years later we finally get a sequel and it was below my expectations. Stick with this movie if you had to choose between this and the sequel.

Basically a 1990's version of War of the Worlds - right down to the invisible shields, and a "virus" that stops them. Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum are great, even further cementing Smith as an A-Lister. It was awesome seeing this in the theater, and I've wanted to upgrade my DVD for sometime. The Steelbook case is nicely done as well.

Bought this item because of the attached movie cash & extended version included of ID4 [yes, this includes both the original feature & the extended]. The digital remastering of the original is really well done, looking & sounding crisper & cleaner on bluray. However, the extra 11 mins was hardly noticeable & added nothing to the storyline/plot or interest ...a bit disappointing. [But there was no confusion identifying the extended cuts when played in Spanish audio because those cuts were not audio translated] But for the Best Buy reward points on this purchase, quality upgrade, price & promo cash return ...this deal was worth it.

I loved this movie for a long time. The sequel was a disappointment. But I'm not talking about that. This movie had great effects, so much so that you forget it was made in 1996. I have been waiting for the extended cut to come to blu-ray for a long time. The regular length just wasn't enough. And the reviews for the existing blu-rays sounded disappointing. This blu-ray certainly did not disappoint. A+

This is such a fun cheesy Summer blockbuster movie and it looks incredible in 4K, so worth the upgrade. Sound really kicks in DTS-X with nice rumbles during the explosions. The scene where the alien wakes up in Area 51 really surrounds you.

Great old movie but I was expecting a little more in the 4k format. The old CGI special effects are really noticeable and don't blend as smoothly as newer 4k movies that involve space travel. But the storyline made it a worthwhile purchase

This movie has always been a guilty pleasure. It embodies all that is great with the summer blockbuster, and, while it may have its faults, being a great refuge from the pressures of this world isn’t one of them. This 4K release is visually stunning, and it sounds equally great. Buy this now!

I recently purchased this movie, as it was on sale. It has been years since I had seen this movie, and I had not seen it in the enhance Blu-ray version. It is still an interesting movie about aliens attacking the planet Earth. However I do think some of the Blu-ray enhancements changed a little bit of the coloring in the movie. It is not quite the same colors as I remember seeing it in the theaters many years ago.

Independence Day is a classic alien movie and looks great on blu ray. for its day it was really good cinematography wise with good explosions, and aircraft action. I was surprised when I saw directed the movie, I thought it was a steven spiielberg film. So in some ways this movie has some alien cliches, but it was really the first alien movie I really care for, and probably still my favorite if I had to choose (Men in blacks are great too).

I hadn't watched Independence Day in over 15 years when I revisited it with this disc earlier this year. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. It's not the shlockfest I expected, as it still has enough solid movie making a story building to counteract some of the ham-fisted writing and unearned sentimentality. The movie looks and sounds the best it ever has (other than in the UHD format, obviously), and there is a solid amount of special features to top the whole presentation off. Recommended especially for those who grew up through the 90's.

It had been many years since I saw this movie. Back when it came out, I lacked appreciation for what goes into movies. Seeing it now, with its special effects, countless actors, who even as extras, fit well, and hardly any apparent reliance on CG, I can only say that they don't make them like that anymore. I also think this remains Will Smith's best movie. If you have not seen this movie yet... ...Really?

Could not believe the great price on this classic movie which includes a protective and beautiful steelbook case as well as the digital copy! I live the anniversary editions because the commemorate the film and usually come with an awesome artwork for the steelbook case. Definitely happy with this purchase!
