One of the best alien invasion movies period. This movie inspired other directors to create their own invasion movies. You can't ever go wrong with the alien invasion movies. I would say this is #1 followed by war of the worlds, then , close encounters of the third kind then battle LA , battleship, skyline, mars Attacks. These are a must if you love Alien invasion films.

First of all, the grain is part of the film, that's the way its supposed to look. This was shot on film, not digitally like today's movies. It is SUPPOSED to look like that. This is a fantastic transfer, no dirt or scratches, colors pop in HDR and resolution is great. Audio is ridiculously good. Great extras from previous releases and cool new looking back doc. Highly recommended!

Some lines in this movie have gotten cringe over time. But this film still brings it with decent special affects an an audio transfer that will rattle your house for sure.

The movie still stands as a fantastic film until this day. In hindsight, the special effects that were used then and looked spectacular look a bit cheesy now. But definitely well worth getting none-the-less. The best feature is the sound specially if you have the surround sound then you get all the in-combat fighting sounds which feel pretty cool at times.

This is a great movie. I don't know why they can't make movies like this anymore. I own this movie and DVD and 2k BD but I figured I would purchase it in 4k as well. The movie is obviously great and the picture and sound are amazing.

I have the two-DVD 'Special Edition', and I used that disc for comparison with the new ultra-HD version. As I watch the new version, I get the feeling that rather than make the best-possible reproduction of the original, the producers have, to borrow a phrase from the music industry, 'ridden the gain' and manipulated the film to make some scenes darker, and some lighter. This does not make the scenes better, just murky or over-bright. If the producers have also changed the story line I didn't notice it, and it's the same improbable-but-fun movie to watch.

Independence Day is a science fiction classic with something for everyone. On the surface, this film is a sit-back, eat popcorn, action festival; underneath, it is a soft commentary on fear of an Other, and the phenomenology of imperialism. More than anything, though, Independence Day is a cheesy, well-paced, and ultimately enjoyable popcorn film that holds up after 20 years.

OMG! This has been the all time favorite storyline on how to kick some serious Alien buttocks. This a well developed story that gives you a broad spectrum and range of emotion. The fear on ivasion, the death of a loved one, the determination on a mother to protect her son and her hope of finding her man alive. And course the destruction of Evil.

I saw this in the theater when it was first released, and loved it. For some reason, I've never before owned it. Glad I waited, because now it looks and sounds better than if I had picked it up on VHS way back when. Having a big screen and a surround system doesn't hurt, either.

The sound and video reproduction on this BD are excellent. A few scenes were a little grainy, but I am certain the source material was responsible, and not the BD conversion. I thought about going for the UHD but this is fits the bill, and it's a great movie, too! More inspiring than it's sequel, and always fun to watch, especially around the 4th of July! :-D

I've been on a old-school movie kick lately and this makes the list. This is when will Smith ruled the box office and one of my personal favorites of his.

Helped me wash away the filth that was ID4 2 I love insane pulpy over the top action scifi movies and this one together with star ship troopers are at the top of my list. For all its faults it just feels great even after watching it so many times. Can't wait to rebuy and rewatch it on 4k bd This disc holds a good tranfer and some extras if you are into those.

i can remember watching this on lazer disc dvd blu ray and now 4 k and its never looked or sounded better. the story holds up as well. Its not as clear as the new stuff but for this old this is amazing .watch this before you watch the new I- DAY cause some actors are in both and you get a better understanding of there acting parts. Make it a movie nite.

Aliens suck. They travel light years to reach Terra Firma and do they bring a bottle of wine or some cheese to soften their abrupt and unannounced visit? No. They want something that belongs to us. Did they ask politely for it? No. They're just like my ex - take, take, take! Well - we had had enough. Buy this GREAT movie and see the damage we do these guys!

I think that "Independence Day" was one of the greatest action/disaster/sci-fi films of all-time and it was also one of my favorite films of all-time. I also think that this was a very inspiring film with a lot of entertaining and enjoyable action, mystery, suspense and drama including a really great and amazing cast and personal storylines as well.

After watching "Independence Day" countless times over the last two decades, it's easy to fall in a rut of knowing what comes next. But this blu-ray offers crisp visuals and audio clarity that we didn't get in 1996 — you can almost feel the heat off the explosions. :) A worthwhile purchase for anyone who loves this movie.

Independence Day certainly isn't the type of movie to be nominated for best picture, best actor, best script, etc. It's highly unrealistic and the plot definitely isn't very sophisticated, but it's just one of those low substance, high action movies we all love. Will Smith punches an alien in the face. How can you not love that lol? Given ID is 20 years old, I don't know who hasn't seen it at this point that wanted to see it, but if you somehow haven't seen it yet, give it a watch. It will definitely entertain you.

this film is one of the great defeat the invades movie of all time. From Jeff Goldblum playing a smart programmer / heal the Planet activist to Will Smith in one of the best roles of his career. Alien spaceships, underdog wins, etc. also includes one of my favorite movie speeches from Bill Pullman as President Whitmore. We owned this on VHS, DVD and now Blue Ray.

This was one of my favorite sci-fi movies growing up in the 90's. It has everything a person could wish for. There is plenty of action, suspense, drama, and comedy. Plus who does not love Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum. I cannot wait to get the next installment of this now 2 movie franchise. Watch this before seeing the newest Independence Day.

The movie itself is a classic, having Will Smith deliver great acting as well as a memorable scene featuring a very inspiring speech. For the time when this movie was released, the visuals were excellent and pleasant to look at. The Steelbook itself looks amazing as it captures a powerful image from within the movie. Overall, a great buy.
