It was an okay movie does not have will smith in it

It was an ok movie but it can’t top the original .

Good amount of excitement but since its a sequel, alien not as much as a surprise as first movie. Cast pretty much remained in place except Will Smith, and his absence does take something away from the movie. That said it was still worth the price paid for, as film is entertaining.

I enjoyed it. It got a little slow for some reason toward the end. 4 minutes to the earth ends was really long and I guess we had a lot of time outs in the earth ending game. I watched the 3D version and one of the best 3D Movies I have seen. Even the sound was enhanced and very clear.

When I saw the original, I didn't think there could be a part 2 because we won...right? We won the battle, but the war was waiting. I liked the way the movie re-introduces characters and introduces us to new ones. The pace of the movie is fast and packed with action...We won again! yay!

Getting past the inevitable comparison to the first one, which I consider an SF classic, Independence Day Resurgence is a good popcorn continuation of the original. The audio and video are top notch and provide a good theater experience at home. Recommended

The original was so great in concept that I feel if you follow the story line you couldn't miss. I would more accurately rank this as a 3.5 ... without Will Smith a 4.5 with. He really had a command on the character thereby contributing greatly to my overall appreciation of the film.

The movie was in the same fun action adventure feel as the previous movie with the exception of the gratuitous extra characters showing up from the old one. That aspect felt wrong and contrived. However, it is a still a pretty good popcorn movie if you liked the romp of the first one.

I thought the movie was OK, worth seeing at the theater but not nearly as fun as the original. When the original came out in 96', I loved it and if I recall I went back to the theater to see 2-3 times. Regardless, worth buying the bluray when it was on sale cheap during Black Friday.

I enjoyed the first movie but after a while I got a bit tired of seeing it over and over again and I said that they should come out with the sequel and so they did. Actually I think it's even better than the first one with a lot of good special effects which makes it really enjoyable

Pretty good flick. New cast and old mixed well, but story seemed thrown together as far as the characters go. Story itself was good and they did a great job of making this a sequel, script wasn't that great though. Recommend it though, good movie, 3d aspect wasn't good at all though.

I love the first movie. This one was doing okay up until the last 3rd. It was like watching a bad version of space balls...the only difference is that movie is supposed to be stupid and funny! Plus the choice of an actor or two here was a poor one! Some guys simply do not belong behind the controls of a space fighter. I would've rather seen John Candy dressed like a wookie! At least it would've been more believable! I only gave it three stars because of the actors that deserved it ..or it would've gotten 2 stars. The franchise deserved a better cast (with exceptions) and storyline. It had potential and someone dropped the ball! Shame... And where was Will Smith? A pic is the best you guys could do? If he saw the script I don't blame him! Very disappointed!

Overall the movie was pretty good. The special effects were well done. The only drawback was the attempt to bring everybody up to date with the remaining cast of the first movie. This essentially took time away from the action in the sequel. However a movie worth seeing and owning.

Although this movie isn't as good as the first, it is a must have if you are a fan of the first. The movie is entertaining and follows the story line of the first to the point it is the same story, just 20 years later. The 7.1 audio, special effects, and cinematography are good.

I was a huge fan of the original ID4 film. This one left a bad taste in my mouth. Was it visually entertaining? Absolutely. Did it deliver all the explosive action as the first film? Definitely. Was it lacking in the acting department? For sure. Would I watch it again. YUP!

It was a great sequel to Independence Day, which was released back in 1996, although it was not the best sequel. It was packed with less action, less destruction done by aliens, unlike its prequel where we could see New York City, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles destroyed.

I think this movie was really good A lot of people were mad that Will Smith wasn't in it I think the way the storyline went and explained his absence. I loved get so many of the other main characters were brought back to the movie it was definitely worth watching

The aliens return but this time the world is ready to fight. .. or are they? Wife and I enjoyed the film in immersive 3 dimensions. Some action takes place in the background while others are pushed forward into your living room for some great volumetric effect!

Loved the original release of Independence Day(except for Will Smiths over acting). This sequel really works & I like that it brought back some of the original characters & introduced new ones. The special effects are top notch & yes I was not surprised at the ending.

This movie is fun, has lots of action, but falls short. Its basically the same as the first movie just 20 years in the future. Why couldn’t they come up with a better script I don’t know. I own the first so I had to own the 2nd one. Not great but still fun and good.
