lots of drama, great movie, must see as soon as possible

Well When this came out in Theaters I missed it due to work. I really wanted to see it because I was a big fan of the original. I do not normally buy a Blu-ray unless I have seen the movie in the theater. I would prefer to rent it from Netflix. In this case I made an exception and I am glad I did. This was a really good movie and was fun to watch. It is well worth the look.

Great film...thought it was very entertaining to watch!

As far as a sequel goes, this lacked a little to make it a 5 star. The new characters needed just a little more development so you weren't spending all your time trying to figure out who they were in relation to the 1st movie. We saw it at the movies, and watching it a second time after purchasing it helped a bit. But, more background would have made the good movie great.

This is a mediocre sequel to a great movie. We were very disappointed with this purchase.

After reading a bunch of reviews for this movie, I decided to get it anyways. My father, who passed in 2014, loved the original Independence Day. So, I guess you could say I watched it for him. And, I have to say, I was surprised. It was much better than a lot of people said (granted, not as good as the original, but not as bad as some others apparently thought either).

I am a huge fan of the original Independence Day, so I was looking forward to a sequel after all these years. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed by this movie that failed at everything that was right about the original. Where were the likable characters, humor, and real world touches (news reports, etc.) that were done so well in the original? Coupled with poor editing, a lack of coherent time and location, and a very artificial blue screen atmosphere, Independence Day: Resurgence fails to recapture the awe of the original blockbuster. The audio and video on the 2D Blu-ray were excellent and it contains a good amount of bonus features. The best feature is the hour-long making-of documentary. Additionally there is a commentary, deleted scenes, and more. Overall, this is a great presentation of a not so great film. Nostalgia, great A/V, and plenty of bonus features are not enough to make Independence Day: Resurgence a worthy sequel. See this if you must, but it may just leave you wanting to watch the original once again.

Lots of cameos from really old actors from the original. Interesting storyline, with a sort of Transformers-style combat twist. Music from the original was played at key points, so you are definitely reminded this is still Independence Day. By itself, I would have given it three stars but it's a must see if you like the first movie.

Original Independence Day is definitely better. But, this one is good too. I love 3D movies. It is always exciting to watch movie in 3D if you don't get headache. Something involved with spaceships in 3D is usually pretty good. This is good entertainment. I am recommending it.

Great fun cool aliens futuristic movie that won’t disappoint

The original independence day got us all waving flags and middle fingers at the invading spacemen. This one has great scifi action and 3d effects, but it never gets to the stand up and cheer level. Definitely fun seeing Judd Hirsch fleeing spaceships in a school bus full of kids. I recommend it, but you probably won't need a flag to wave during this one.
