Smells bad and paint starts to chip

I would just let it breathe but I was just cleaning it and I noticed the paint is chipping, and it has rust. I replaced my 10+ year old microwave for this and now I’m wondering if it was a good choice. I’d say, just save up and upgrade to a high quality microwave.

I plugged in the unit and it automatically turn on. The fan was running and the top of the microwave was hot to the touch within 30 seconds. I was unable to make it stop without unplugging the unit. It was returned.
